Chapter 424 - 438 Too Dangerous, Overseas is His Territory
"Sir, you’re back so early today." Sister Zhang just walked out of the kitchen and said with a smile.Lu Jinghan bent down to take out slippers from the shoe cabinet and changed into them: "Where’s Xiao Xi?"
"Madam is in the room; she’s been there since she returned and hasn’t come out."
"Got it, Sister Zhang, you can go about your work."
Lu Jinghan took off his coat and casually hung it on the rack before going upstairs. He pushed open the bedroom door and walked in; Han Xi was still asleep.
He tiptoed to the bedside, tucking the quilt around Han Xi. Suddenly, his phone rang from his pocket; worried it would wake the girl, he took out the phone and directly hung up.
Lu Jinghan bent down to touch Han Xi’s forehead, confirmed she wasn’t feverish, and then went out.
He closed the bedroom door and took out his phone to call Feng Yi back.
"What’s the matter?"
"Liao Tingxiao is going to leave the country again; I want to take some people to follow him."
Feng Yi was already on his way to the airport. To find out what Liao Tingxiao was doing abroad, they had to follow him to investigate.
Lu Jinghan strode into the study, picked up a cigarette from the desk and lit it, pondering for a while before speaking: "It’s too dangerous. Overseas is his territory; if you are discovered, you will be in danger."
"We’ll be careful. I’ll contact you once we’re there, but I’ve got to go; I’m almost at the airport now."
Feng Yi hurriedly hung up and sent a text message to Li Manman, saying he had business to attend to and would be traveling for a few days, asking her not to worry.
After hanging up, Lu Jinghan walked to the large floor-to-ceiling window, pressed his cigarette-holding fingers against the glass, his dark eyes filled with worry amidst thin smoke.
In the bedroom, Han Xi had woken up, still feeling dizzy; she rubbed her temples, got out of bed, washed her face in the bathroom, and went out.
Seeing the light in the study was on, Han Xi directly pushed the door open and went in: "When did you come back?"
Hearing her voice, Lu Jinghan extinguished his cigarette, raised his hand to smooth the strands of hair on Han Xi’s side face: "Been back for a while, feeling better from the cold?"
"Much better, just a bit of a headache."
Han Xi reached out, hugging Lu Jinghan’s narrow waist, her soft voice tinged with the hoarseness from just waking up.
"Dinner should be ready by now; let’s go eat first."
Lu Jinghan’s slender fingers opened Han Xi’s palm, holding her hand as they went downstairs together.
In the dining room, Sister Zhang had already set the table. Seeing the two coming down from upstairs, she said with a smile: "Sir, Madam, come and eat."
"Okay, Sister Zhang."
Han Xi replied with a gentle smile, pulled out a chair at the dining table, and sat down, her appetite lacking as she looked at the dishes.
Lu Jinghan leaned over, serving a bowl of soup to Han Xi: "Do you want me to call Doctor Liu over?"
"No need, it’s just a common cold."
"Alright, after dinner, I’ll accompany you back to the room to rest."
Han Xi responded softly, then lowered her head to eat.
With little appetite, Han Xi didn’t eat much during dinner.
After dinner, they returned to the bedroom. Feeling unwell, Han Xi lay on the bed without even taking a shower.
Lu Jinghan hung up the phone and walked out from the balcony, handing the medicine and water on the bedside table to Han Xi: "Take your medicine before sleeping."
Han Xi propped herself up with her elbow, took the medicine from Lu Jinghan’s palm, and swallowed it with water.
"I’ll sleep first; my head hurts a bit."
