Volume Two ; Chapter 111 (327) - The Price of Betrayal

Swing after swing.

Evasion. Deflection.

Velakia could not get close to the woman. Which frustrated her enraged mind even more.

Blanc was fighting in the distance, but she was too preoccupied to care.

As tired as she was, as sick as she had just been a minute ago, nothing mattered. All she was right now was rage, instinct, and adrenaline.

“Fight me properly,” Velakia hissed. “Or is attacking innocent people all you can do?”

“Innocent, my fucking ass,” the woman replied, while dodging. “Blanc of Blood Denegis killed my mother.”

“He should’ve killed you as well, while he was at it,” Velakia muttered, trying to stab her again. “Die, rucva.”

“I’m going to kill you for what you did to my sister,” the woman hissed, evading the attack and thrusting a kick at Velakia’s thigh, making her lose her balance.

Velakia did not want to use it before, but she now felt the need to do it. The last time she missed using it, she got raped. She will not fail now.

Regaining her balance, she pressed at the back of her earrings, deactivating their power.

Her pink eye grew a darker shade, almost shining in the moonlight.

A deep pressure bore against the woman’s chest for a moment.

Velakia, the next moment, dropped her daggers and dashed at an incredible speed towards the woman, grabbing her face in her hands, throwing off her hood in the process.

“Look into my eye,” Velakia whispered.

And the woman did as she was told.

She froze.

Velakia let go, moving to grab her daggers.

She crouched to grab them. The woman was still there.

“Kneel,” Velakia commanded.

And without her knowledge, she kneeled on the ground, unable to move.

Tahreni kicked the woman on the ground, then pulled an iron fist over her abdomen.

The woman screamed in pain, unsure of what wound to put pressure on.

But Tahreni kicked her again.

And again.

And again.

She wasn’t satisfied with this. She wanted blood. She wanted death.

And she will have it.

She struck the iron fists against each other, sparking them.

And raising her hands up into the sky, she moved to smash the woman’s head.

“You bitch,” Ali swung behind him.

But Sera was quick to retreat, moving backwards several feet.

Ali, enraged and with a knife stuck in the back of his shoulder, got up, walking towards Sera.

For him, Blanc was no longer a threat.

But Blanc did not need a weapon.

He focused all his might into the Mark of the Wolverine on his right hand.

He opened his palm in the shape of a claw and swung at the air towards Ali’s heels.

A second passed, a second that allowed Ali to approach Sera.

But then…

“AAAAAHHH!” Ali yelled, crumbling to his knees.

Blanc repeated what he once did to Heru’s wings, this time to Ali, carving his calcaneal tendon away from his leg.

“Go back to Lendros, Sera,” Blanc ordered, slowly getting back to his feet.

Sera nodded before turning around and taking off.

Velakia walked towards the person, ready to kill her.

But as she approached, it seemed as if the earth was swallowing the woman.

Velakia stopped, unsure if she was seeing things or if she should continue, in case it was a trap.

But the earth kept swallowing her.

“We will meet again,” the woman muttered, breaking free of Velakia’s control as more of the earth swallowed her, “And if not, we will look after your lover for you.”

Velakia showed her teeth like a wild beast, throwing one of the daggers at the woman, catching her on her shoulder.

The woman hissed in pain, but the next moment, she was gone underground, leaving only Velakia’s dagger behind her.

“Fuck…” Velakia clicked her tongue.

She turned around, watching as Tahreni was about to kill the other woman.

But just as it happened to her, so too it happened to Tahreni as the earth swallowed the person she was fighting against, making Tahreni strike the ground with her iron fists.

“Catca,” Tahreni angrily cursed, before realizing Velakia was watching her.

She got up and wanted to walk towards her, but just then, Ali’s screams reached their ears, making them turn their eyes in Blanc’s direction.

Once Sera left, Blanc moved to grab his sword from the dirt.

“You should’ve killed me when you had the chance, Ali,” Blanc muttered, approaching the man, “Now it is you who will die.”

“Just get it over with, send me to the High Monarch,” Ali clenched his jaw in pain and resolve, ready to meet death.

“Was Aidan who sent you?” Blanc asked, pressing the sword’s tip on the knife stuck on Ali’s back, moving the blade inside him.

“Grn,” Ali groaned, “If… you think that kid had what it takes to change my mind, then you are a bigger fool than I thought you were. Now kill me, I won’t say shit.”

“As you wish,” Blanc muttered coldly.

“Blanc, wai-” Velakia yelled.

But the sound of steel on flesh silenced her.

Thud.

A head rolled a foot away from Blanc.

And a moment later, another wet thud echoed in the surrounding area.

Ali, Heir of Blood Xeladar, fell dead on the ground.

“May the Vita remember your sins, old friend,” Blanc muttered, looking at the headless body.

Tahreni and Velakia approached him.

“Are you oka-”

And the thud’s echo soon was replaced by the sound of a slap.

“I told you he betrayed you, now look what happened, Lendros is dead.” Velakia grabbed Blanc’s collar after slapping Blanc, “He was mine to kill and avenge Lendros’s death.”

“Lendros is still alive,” Blanc clenched his jaw, looking into Velakia’s eyes, “Now is not the time to argue who gets to kill who, my dear.”

Velakia’s eyes went wide at his words, turning quickly to look at Lendros as he was being treated by Sera.

She did not apologize to Blanc as she and Tahreni dashed towards Lendros.

And neither will he for delaying Lendros’s treatment by a minute.

He needed strength. He needed to heal himself.

Blanc knelt down beside the headless body of Ali, and, turning his corpse around, he pressed his hand on Ali’s chest, letting his mind fall under the fabric of the world.

Letting his senses grow numb.

As the Harvest of his old friend’s Raw Vita began.
