The Ruined World Was Mistaken for a Game

Chapter 86: Qualification of a God (2)

Chapter 86: Qualification of a God (2)

Translator: Dreamscribe

The place where the Grand Temple of the Creator God was located was the Celestial Realm.

Of course, it wasn’t the real Celestial Realm, but a place that Jinwoo had crafted to seem convincing. He used the land where all the Arsilan people had left, an empty space, a place that had brought only pain to everyone for a hundred years.

The Arsilan people found even the memory of this land painful. It was a land with not a single happy memory, only pain remained.

Since no one sought it out, Jinwoo could decorate it however he wanted. First, he installed a massive barrier. If someone tried to leave the barrier, they would return to the same spot again.

To create a feeling completely different from Arsilan, he decorated the inside of the barrier as a beautiful space-like universe. The broken moon was nowhere to be found, and countless stars and galaxies rose into the sky.

The staff looked at Jinwoo with sparkling eyes. They were restless, waiting for his command. The reason the grand festival had a nonstop stream of events was all thanks to the tremendous labor of the staff.

“Dismantle it all.”

Yes, sir!

The staff raised both arms in joy. Once the staff began working, the vast land was flattened in an instant. Jinwoo took materials out of subspace and used alchemy and magic to create clouds.

~

[F]Fluffy Cotton Cloud

A soft cloud that feels good to lie on.

If you put it in your mouth, it melts like cotton candy. Seems usable for cooking, bedding material, and many other things.

~

The treasures that Purpuzan had were quite good materials. Jinwoo mass-produced the fluffy cotton clouds and filled the surroundings without any gaps, laying them down as the ground.

‘Hmm.’

He had originally intended to just build the Grand Temple of the Creator God, but while working, it ended up growing to city-scale. Since it had come this far, Jinwoo decided to add various things.

He created constellations to commemorate the Arsilan people who had sacrificed themselves in the Great War, and he also built a memorial hall that contained records of the heroes.

‘It wouldn’t be fun if I just made an announcement.’

He built a shop and added cosmetic items that could only be purchased in the Celestial Realm. The items were quite diverse, including angel halos and small angel wings. They were originally going to be sold as paid items, but he thought giving them out would be better.

He set all prices to 1 gold, and each person could only buy one item.

“Oh....”

After focusing for a while and adding various things, a magnificent Celestial Realm was born. Beautiful buildings were built around the Grand Temple, and the ground shimmered with light. With the fluffy cotton clouds densely packed, it looked like a city floating on actual clouds.

Three days passed like that, and the day of the announcement arrived.

Jinwoo looked at the staff.

Everyone had changed into their costumes and was on standby. They were to guide the heroes or host simple events. Just the presence of angels made the Celestial Realm shine even more beautifully.

“Is that a paid item, nim?”

"Ahem! I received it as a gift during the Great War."

“Sick!”

The staff’s speech was heavily influenced by the heroes.

That was because, during the preparations, they had been more closely involved with the heroes than anyone else. It was only natural that they started resembling each other. Other Arsilan people had also been greatly influenced by the heroes, so their way of speaking had changed a lot too.

“Well then....”

Preparation complete!

Jinwoo immediately opened the Celestial Realm and checked on the heroes.

[The Creator God gazes upon Arsilan!]

[The Celestial Realm will be open for 3 days starting today! You can move to the Celestial Realm by performing the Ascension Pose.]

A sparkling status window appeared in front of the heroes.

By pressing the ‘Ascend’ button and striking their own unique pose, they could immediately travel to the Celestial Realm.

“Oh, ooh!”

“Long live the Creator God!”

A pillar of light descended upon the posing heroes, and their bodies gradually floated upward. Once they rose high enough into the air, they were transported directly to the Celestial Realm.

“Oh, ooh!”

“This is insane!”

The heroes were astonished by the beauty of the Celestial Realm and couldn’t stop admiring it. They quickly took out cameras to snap pictures or record videos. When they saw the angels, they rushed toward them in a crowd.

“Wow....”

“So, so cute....”

The angels looked adorable.

Though they could transform into a mature form, the angels preferred their smaller appearance. This was because it allowed them to work more thoroughly, even in tight corners.

The angels took photos with others and guided people around the Celestial Realm.

“Oh, clouds!”

“They’re super fluffy! Can I take some with me?”

“They even taste good.”

The heroes dived onto the clouds. If it were Earth’s clouds, they would have fallen through, but the clouds in the Celestial Realm were different. The incredibly fluffy texture greeted the heroes. They bought cosmetic items from the shop and equipped them right away.

While exploring the Celestial Realm, they entered various buildings.

Among them, the place where the most heroes gathered was the Arsilan Memorial Hall. It displayed the achievements heroes had made so far, and statues of those heroes were erected. Behind each statue, a photo was attached.

The memorial hall displayed a variety of records.

“Wow, level 69? That’s insane.”

“Shark food 223 times? How did that even happen? That’s nuts.”

The heroes reacted positively.

You could even see some of them wanting to break new records themselves.

‘Good thing I put care into building it.’

Jinwoo watched the heroes laugh and chatter joyfully, then moved to the Grand Temple.

He switched into the body he had prepared for the announcement.

The body took on the appearance of Lee Jinwoo. He had brought over his appearance from Earth exactly and wore a neat suit. It looked as though he had come straight from FS Games’ headquarters to the Celestial Realm. That made it all the more special.

Inside the Grand Temple was a space prepared for announcing many contents and updates in the future. There was a stage, and it was surrounded by rows of seats. Though it was indoors, the environment could be freely manipulated using illusion magic.

[The Grand Temple has opened! The event will begin in 30 minutes. Everyone, please gather!]

As that notification appeared, the heroes entered the Grand Temple and took their seats.

“Oh, this is amazing.”

“It’s not offline, but it feels like it is.”

“Heroes from all over the world are here.”

The Grand Temple had more than enough space to accommodate every hero currently logged into Arsilan Saga. If it reached capacity, more space would be created, so even tens of millions could attend without issue.

Once all the heroes were inside, the surroundings darkened.

“Seoul?”

“Oh, ooooh!”

Beneath the heroes’ feet appeared the scenery of Seoul. Namsan Tower came into view, and the tall buildings seemed close enough to touch. It was so realistic that it felt as though they were really floating in the sky above Seoul.

Whiiish!

Like teleporting through space, they moved to another city. The scenery of capital cities and major urban areas from countries where Arsilan Saga was serviced unfolded before them: New York, Tokyo, London. Then, they gradually ascended into the sky.

Earth came into view. Just like being in real outer space, Earth was visible beneath them. The heroes could only gaze in awe.

“Waaah!”

“Gasp!”

A satellite zipped by just above the heroes’ heads. Some crouched down or instinctively tried to fire magic. Earth rapidly shrank as the distance grew, and the speed increased. The surrounding space began to distort, as if they had entered a wormhole.

As if passing through dimensions, they continued moving until Arsilan appeared. They stopped high in the sky, with Solis, Marogo, and Evanth visible below.

“Huh?”

“That’s really Arsilan!”

What lay below was not a video or a visual effect. They could see the busy movements of Arsilan’s people. It was a real-time view of Arsilan’s landscape.

While everyone was immersed in awe, Jinwoo stepped onto the stage.

“Hello. I’m Lee Jinwoo.”

Jinwoo greeted them calmly.

A brief silence descended.

This place was unmistakably the Celestial Realm. Yet, with Jinwoo appearing like that, it didn’t feel quite real.

Next to Jinwoo, a status window appeared, translating his words in real time. It was a thoughtful gesture for the heroes who weren’t yet familiar with the common language of Arsilan.

“The, the Creator God has descended!”

“Uwooooah!”

“Kyaaaah!”

The cheers of the heroes filled the Grand Temple.

Jinwoo lightly waved his hand on stage. It took quite a while for the cheers to settle down.

“From now on, the Celestial Realm will be the place where you and I meet and communicate like this.”

While casual communication could still happen through broadcasts, for major update announcements, this place would be used.

“I often watch Arsilan Worlds. But I’ve seen things like ‘Don’t expect much, it’s natural for there to be no updates’, or ‘It's acceptable if Episode 3 is boring’. I’ve seen a lot of those comments.”

When Jinwoo snapped his fingers, posts written in Arsilan Worlds appeared densely behind him.

Gasp!

At the sight, the audience audibly caught their breath.

Jinwoo shook his head.

He looked quite disappointed.

“Heroes.”

Jinwoo looked at the heroes.

“Do you still not know who I am?”

Jinwoo had never once let the heroes down.

Gradually, the expressions of the heroes brightened. Their eyes sparkled like stars. When Jinwoo waved his hand, all the posts floating behind him burst into flames and disappeared.

Jinwoo grinned.

“Before the main announcement, there are a few things I’d like to share first.”

A status window appeared in front of the heroes.

It was packed with improvements and update lists.

Quests for newbie heroes, new hunting grounds and gates for high-level heroes had been added across Arsilan. And that was just the beginning.

“Ten hunting grounds for level 50 and above, eight for level 60...”

“Holy crap....”

“T-Taming function’s been added too?”

“Then can we raise horned rabbits?”

The audience murmured in excitement.

It was massive.

It was far too much to simply ‘click through’ casually.

“If you look at number 12 on the update list, you’ll find newly added classes. In addition to that class, many ‘hidden classes’ have been added too, so try to discover them. You can obtain hidden classes by mastering difficult skills or achieving rare accomplishments.”

He explained key sections by walking the audience through the list like this.

“Higher-tier skills require you to awaken ‘Aura’. Mage and Cleric types need enlightenment. It’s a vital element to obtain secondary classes, so explore and study together.”

To freely manipulate aura.

To multi-cast mid-tier spells, or handle sacred techniques of similar level.

These were the minimum requirements to advance to a secondary class.

“Graaaah!”

“There’s too much to research!”

“My stomach... my stomach’s gonna burst!”

The heroes groaned in agony.

Even with just this, they felt like they could stay occupied for a full year.

“We could tame goblins and make them farm.”

"Boss monsters can be tamed too. If taming succeeds, they turn into orbs? When you throw the orb, the tamed monster comes out."

“And even among the same monsters, their traits and stats are all different!”

Even just the taming system added this time had an overwhelming amount of content. The heroes were already thoroughly satisfied with just this.

Jinwoo enjoyed watching the wide range of reactions from the heroes.

While hiding that feeling inside, he bowed to the heroes.

“I apologize. It was all just little stuff, wasn’t it? I completely understand if you’re disappointed.”

No, not at all? We’re full already.

That’s what the heroes’ faces seemed to say.

“Then, let me introduce the main content!”

Open your mouths wide!

I’m gonna cram in the main course!

The surroundings darkened again.

A wind blew. It was a very dry wind. The heroes touched their faces.

They felt sand.

Before the heroes’ eyes, a desert appeared. It was a sight completely different from anything seen in Arsilan so far. As they passed through the endless desert, massive cities came into view.

[The land of the invaders who worshiped the Lord of Greed and started the Great War.]

With that phrase, a vast empire was revealed.

A higher being of Erosion.

An evil entity named the Lord of Greed was writhing beneath that massive pit.

Soldiers that looked like mummies whipped slaves, and grotesquely large beings laughed loudly while clutching treasures, like monsters. Their laughter made the heroes feel uneasy.

[Traitors who sold Arsilan to the Lord of Greed.]

They were living in overwhelming prosperity.

Arsilan still bore the deep scars of the Great War. And yet, those traitors lived lives of pure luxury as if none of it concerned them. That scene made the heroes burn with anger.

The surroundings shifted back to desert.

Beyond the edge of the sands shimmered a golden Magic Barrier, and in front of it, a Hero’s Flower bloomed.

[Episode 3: Arsilan’s Revenge]

Episode 3 was revealed.

What is this?

The heroes were stunned.

A land far more vast than anything in Arsilan stretched out before them. Within that vast land sat the enormous Greed Empire. The target of their revenge for the Great War stood right before them!

Jinwoo saw the heroes’ reactions and nodded, then adopted a solemn expression.

“Look at those dazzling cities and countless treasures.”

Jinwoo pointed to the cities behind him.

“Arsilan’s traitors and the corrupted are living far too happily. Their indulgence and decadence never end, and their days of pleasure continue for eternity.”

He reached his hand toward the cities.

“Everything over there was stolen from Arsilan. Arsilan’s blood and flesh are what make their lives so prosperous. Should we just stand by and do nothing?”

The heroes’ eyes trembled wildly.

We absolutely cannot let this stand! Many heroes shook their heads, thinking exactly that.

“Now begins the time for revenge! I grant you permission through the power of the Creator God! Heroes! Seize, destroy, and burn it all to your heart’s content!”

Ah!

Dopamine exploded!

“Uwoooaaah!”

“This is insane!”

“No way, what is this?!”

The heroes were on the verge of losing their minds.

This was something beyond mere content. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call it transcendental.

Why must we always be the ones suffering?!

All the frustration that had unknowingly piled up during Episodes 1 and 2 was blown away with this single announcement. Like a bomb going off inside their bodies, an overwhelming ecstasy shook every hero to the core.

“Creator God! Creator God!”

“Uaaah! I love you!”

“Praise the Creator God!”

Of course they had to praise him.

Everyone began to worship Jinwoo.

Jinwoo spread his arms wide and basked in their cheers. He played the role of the Creator God that the heroes so deeply wanted.

“Now, let me explain the new system added with Episode 3.”

Jinwoo snapped his fingers, and something appeared on the stage.

It was a monument inscribed with the emblem of the Kingdom of Sillion.

[Occupation System]

Occupation!

The word alone stirred the hearts of all.

“If you invade cities or villages and plunder them, you earn Invasion Contribution Points. With these points, you can purchase an Occupation Monument. When you plant the Occupation Monument on the land of your choice...”

The Occupation Monument, floating on stage, descended into the desert and embedded itself firmly. A fixed area around the monument was claimed as occupied territory.

“This way, you can claim a certain territory. You can also offer your Invasion Contribution Points or looted treasures to the Occupation Monument to expand your domain. Once your occupied area reaches a certain size, you can declare a territory.”

A territory!

The heroes couldn’t help but be shocked.

“It will be a territory affiliated with the Kingdom of Sillion, but autonomy will be guaranteed. However, declaring a territory will require a guild-sized group of members. Depending on the size of your territory, you’ll be granted a noble rank. Enjoy it to the fullest.”

Starting from Junior Baron, you could rise all the way up to Duke.

Of course, in the Kingdom of Sillion, nobility was an honorary title, and there were no special privileges. But already, desire was flashing in the eyes of the heroes.

You could become a baron, even a count, how could anyone resist that?

“Furniture and buildings for decorating your territory will also be added. You can purchase them with Invasion Contribution Points, looted treasure, or Platinum Coins.”

On stage, various items for decorating territories appeared. Not just palm trees and oases, but also shacks, brick houses, and even luxurious mansions. There was no need to actually build them, you could simply buy and install them.

“And though this will be part of a future update, territory wars will also be introduced.”

You could freely invade and seize land, and even claim it as your own! And now you could even establish your own territory!

“C-Crazy god-tier game....”

“This is Arsilan Saga, alright!”

“Uaaah! My heart feels like it’s about to explode!”

The heroes screamed and could only continue to worship the Creator God. But it didn’t end there.

“And a Treasure Exchange will also be added. Based on your Invasion Contribution Points and the value of your looted treasure, you’ll be able to exchange them for high-grade equipment or material items.”

Jinwoo unveiled several high-grade equipment items.

There were even B-rank weapons.

“The Traitor List will also be updated weekly. If you eliminate a traitor, you’ll gain a large amount of Invasion Contribution Points.”

You could kill the traitors of Arsilan yourself!

The heroes couldn’t keep up with the flood of new content.

Jinwoo then introduced new mounts and outfits.

Please... just stop already!

That’s what the expressions on the heroes’ faces seemed to say.

So much content had already been crammed in that their throats were full, they simply couldn’t take in anymore.

“When should Episode 3’s update go live?”

Jinwoo asked the heroes.

The heroes already had an idea what he was about to say.

"Ne, next week?"

"No matter what, next week seems too soon."

"How could such content...."

Jinwoo usually released large updates the week after announcing them.

“Of course, it won’t be next week.”

The heroes nodded at Jinwoo’s words.

The scale was far too massive.

Just getting it out within this year would already earn him praise by any normal standards. But Jinwoo was the Creator God who surpassed normal logic.

“It’s already been updated right now.”

What?

Right now?

The heroes were so stunned their minds blanked, they even missed the timing to cheer. After the grand festival, some heroes were heard saying:

‘So, uh... what do we do now?’

Rabbit Princess.

A term used to refer to hardcore gamers who consumed game content at lightning speed. In Arsilan, there were no Rabbit Princesses.

Because all the Rabbit Princesses had already burst from fullness and died.
