Chapter 63: Day of Creator God's Descent (4)
Chapter 63: Day of Creator God's Descent (4)
Translator: Dreamscribe
There were many Celestials.
Since they were fully connected to the Soul Gate, they were now no different from immortal beings. Unless they were completely devoured, they could recover again from the Soul Gate.
Jinwoo took out the ring connected to the Magic Tower. It was a ring that every Arsilanian acting as an NPC possessed. As a staff member who had to help Jinwoo with many tasks, they needed more special privileges.
‘They need to help with things like monster settings and item distribution…’
Jinwoo connected the ring with the magic core. Then the ring shimmered with a blue light. Now, wearing this ring allowed one to use part of the core’s abilities.
When Jinwoo duplicated the ring and distributed it, Astel received one and his eyes sparkled.
“Can I modify it?”
“Why?”
“It’s inconvenient for work.”
“Change it however you like.”
Astel held the ring to his arm, and it transformed into an armband and was worn. It said Staff. Now anyone could tell they were staff. Beside Staff, a number was engraved in order of rank.
Jinwoo immediately opened a ‘Staff-only Notice Board’.
Jinwoo (Work Supervisor): Let’s work hard!
└Astel (Team Leader): Task one!
└Haruel (Staff1): Task two!
└Muruel (Staff2): Task three!
.
..
...
It was a bit unsettling, but it was certainly a commendable attitude for staff.
Jinwoo took out the crown and examined it.
What if, back then, Ella had worn this crown and led the Golden Alliance of Arsilan?
The Golden Alliance of Arsilan would have united around Ella and fought the Erosion with all their might. Even if they had to face annihilation, they wouldn’t have retreated.
‘Still, it wouldn’t have been easy.’
Erosion was conceptually different from ordinary invaders. Jinwoo put the crown back into subspace. For now, he would be satisfied with being able to enrich the Arsilan Saga and move forward. Now, we would become the incomprehensible avengers to the Erosion.
So let's create an enjoyable stage!
Our very own Arsilan Saga!
***
It was server maintenance time.
There wasn’t much time given. Everyone was busy preparing to welcome the tremendous influx of guests.
Tia was busy educating the residents of Rainsword, and Heina had summoned the knight order. All the vassals of Rainsword were also scheduled to be deployed.
Jinwoo entrusted the city construction to Astel and the Celestials.
The Celestials had the authority to manifest objects through divine power. Since they were connected via the ring to the Magic Tower and the Magic Gate, they could even handle magic, though limited to construction work.
They were already excellent workers and now were receiving incredible support!
So it was safe to trust and delegate the work.
Jinwoo left the construction of the city and village to Astel and stepped away to handle other updates.
There were many events, so he had to check each one. Fortunately, they were all functioning properly.
“Hmm, this should be enough for the NPCs.”
Jinwoo created the characters set by FS Games using bio golems. They varied from shop NPCs to city and village residents. Until now, there had been no children, but this time, they could be added.
"Tiris, please input according to the settings."
“Yes, understood.”
He split the will and embedded it into the NPCs.
The tasks, behaviors, and personalities were handled by Tiris and the Magic Tower.
‘Next is the schedule…’
The schedule was broken down by the minute.
Jinwoo briefly visited FS Games and attended a meeting. Then, due to an issue arising at the U.S. branch, he secretly resolved it. Reportedly, a Soul Link transport truck had been raided.
He teleported directly to the U.S. and solved it using magical means, and even arranged follow-up measures. Jinwoo would not tolerate any act that interfered with the connection of Heroes. Only after an entire day passed did he return to Arsilan.
‘Are they doing well?’
When Jinwoo appeared in Arsilan, Astel and the Celestials approached him. They were still wearing T-shirts labeled Staff. Protected by divine power, they looked brand new and clean.
“That hat?”
“The High Elf princess gave it to me. She was an elf with a sense of fashion.”
Astel was even wearing a safety helmet.
They said they duplicated it using the magic core and distributed it to everyone. Seeing the Celestials even wearing safety helmets gave Jinwoo a strange feeling. The harder the labor, the brighter the expressions of the Celestials became.
“Have you started the work?”
“Started?”
Astel tilted his head.
Had they not started yet? Well, it was such a massive amount. If they began now, they could still make it in time.
Jinwoo enthusiastically rolled up his sleeves.
“I’ll help too. Let’s build it together.”
Astel, as if finally understanding, shook his head.
“It’s completed.”
“You’re done already?”
“Yes.”
Astel nodded.
“It’s only been one day, and already?”
“Yes! It was rewarding work.”
Jinwoo was caught off guard for the first time in a while. He immediately went with Astel to confirm.
“Ah….”
Jinwoo’s mind went blank.
He had planned for two cities and eight villages. He had only thought they needed to be livable, but the city in front of him was magnificent.
There was a large castle in the center, surrounded by various buildings. Beneath the castle stood a grand temple, filled with beautiful statues.
The entire city was so stunning it resembled a great temple. It felt like seeing the capital of a kingdom in a fantasy movie.
The design itself was similar to what the art team had created, but the density of what filled the inside was entirely different.
“I had some extra time, so I added various things.”
The other cities and villages were the same. There were cities that could comfortably accommodate tens of thousands of people and neatly organized villages. The construction of Evanth was also completed in an instant.
Evanth had now become a vast city.
“Weren’t you short on magic power?”
“We reused the temple.”
“Ella’s last temple?”
“Yes! What’s past is past! Now we must begin anew! Just like how another task comes after a job is finished! Ella-nim would want that too!”
Astel was pointlessly energetic.
Jinwoo fell into deep thought. If it were cities or villages with a basic shape, the Heroes could settle in and build them together. But this one was perfect, down to the evenly spaced gaps between each brick.
‘It would make sense to say Evanth was completed through Ella’s blessing…’
But the rest of the cities and villages would need a completely different approach.
Especially that large central city. If it just appeared out of nowhere, it might break the immersion.
Jinwoo pondered for a moment, then looked over the draft of Episode 2’s scenario written by Tia. If he expanded the early parts and applied them, he thought he could make it work somehow.
Astel and the Celestials looked at Jinwoo with sparkling eyes. They seemed to be hoping for praise, so Jinwoo nodded.
“Good job. Really excellent work.”
Smile!
Astel and the Celestials beamed with smiles.
“Is there anything else for us to do?”
“Please give us more work.”
“Even paperwork is fine!”
The Celestials were so eager to work that they couldn’t stay still for a moment.
It was a serious case of work addiction.
“There’s nothing left to…”
Dejected.
Astel and the Celestials’ expressions fell.
They looked just like Border Collies longing for a walk. As if they’d fall ill if not walked soon.
"Hmm, then shall we make other things too? Is that, is that okay?"
“Yes, we’re staff after all!”
“Staff of God!”
“Yes! Staff of God! Staff!”
Smile!
Astel and the Celestials’ faces brightened. Their halos spun vigorously.
They were so overly diligent from being workaholics it was exhausting! If their personalities were bad, he could’ve ignored it, but they were too kind, and that made it hard!
He recalled what Ella had said while drunkenly rambling.
‘Maybe she just wanted to pass it off to someone else?’
Jinwoo looked up at the sky. It felt like he could see a vision of Ella grinning and giving a thumbs-up.
Staff members had a required daily work quota they had to fill. Thanks to that, Jinwoo came up with various events and tasks.
“It’s a complicated and annoying job. Will you be okay with it?”
Astel’s eyes widened, and a blush spread across his face.
“I love it!”
“All right, let’s try doing everything!”
Jinwoo was a model dog owner no, a divine being, who made sure to provide enough work allocation.
Finally, the long and arduous server maintenance ended, and the overseas service for the Arsilan Saga began!
The Heroes called this day Arsilan’s Singularity.
Because it was the day content began to explode in the Arsilan Saga.
***
He was excited.
So excited that he couldn’t sleep.
“Huaaah!”
Mark was waiting solely for the server to open.
He was quite lucky.
He had learned Korean while working in overseas sales for 10 years! Since he had no interest in things like K-pop or dramas, he had once thought he had learned a meaningless language. But he was wrong.
He had learned none other than Arsilan’s common language in advance!
‘The Arsilan common language! It’s something every Hero should know.’
Already, Korean language courses were rapidly growing in the U.S.
He had even quit his job because he received an offer to become an instructor. Just by teaching intense lessons for two days, he could make a living.
Word had it that people might now even be able to earn money in Arsilan through official business registration.
It was a place that would gather tens of millions of people in the future.
Truly, it was an enormous market. Eventually, every country on Earth would have no choice but to lift regulations and join.
In front of Mark were stacks of nutrient blocks and energy drinks. From today, he planned to run through Arsilan Saga nonstop. He was even working out, something he hated, to maintain a healthy body condition.
As he waited for the server to open, he worshipped the Creator God with a reverent heart. Then he opened SNS on his smartphone.
[Evan Merkins]
Arsilan Saga? We’re going to build a far better virtual reality. The research is already finished. Look forward to it!
(Video attached: Get a grip!)
Using virtual reality for games and such? How dumb.
#IAmTheRealGod #TrueVirtualReality #JoinIfYouAreAmerican
He posted this right after the Creator God’s American showcase ended. He even posted a video, where Evan Merkins tapped his own forehead with his finger. The gesture meant, “Use your heads.”
“Evan Merkins! Damn heretic bastard!”
But after that, he went quiet.
Evan Merkins used to post countless messages on SNS daily, but after that post, he went completely silent.
Just before the server opened, a new post appeared on Arsilan Worlds.
Title: Evan Merkins Update
It's a paparazzi photo, but Evan Merkins seemed weird?
(Photo attached: Evan Merkins photo)
He used to have a full head of hair, but now it’s all gone.
There's even a strange smell when you get near him.
His stock was rising until recently but suddenly plummeting, seems like something's up?
Anonymous1 (US): We’re sorry. That heretic bastard, even hanging him right now wouldn’t be enough. I want to take out the shotgun in my storage, but the Creator God probably wouldn’t allow it.
└Anonymous2 (KR): Calm down ㅋㅋ he’s just an attention seeker.
└Anonymous1 (US): Thanks for understanding. That guy isn’t a Hero, just a regular person.
└Anonymous3 (US): That heretic better hope he never meets me on the street.
└Anonymous4 (KR): You American bros are scary ㄷㄷ
Evan Merkins' condition looked very strange.
After searching related videos, it turned out he was getting hit with bird poop or frequently falling over. Photos even started appearing of him collapsing on the ground and sobbing.
'He's probably just attention-seeking again.'
Not just Mark, but many people judged that even this was just another attention-seeking act. That’s how much karma he had piled up.
“Ten minutes left now!”
His heart was already pounding like it might explode.
He put on the Soul Link, lay down in bed, and waited for the server to open.
His friends were also lying down with Soul Links on. On one of Arsilan Worlds’ official apps, “Gathering of Heroes,” everyone was expressing their excitement. It was an app where they could send messages or chat with one another.
-1 minute!
-Ah! Why am I so nervous?
-For Arsilan!
-The streamers are going nuts!
-Let’s grind hard and hit level 40!
Finally, the Arsilan Saga server opened!
‘Oh, ohhh! Let’s go!’
As he pressed the connect button, his consciousness was sucked into Arsilan Saga. Mark already knew the connection process well through countless videos.
Once he built his body in the Customization Room, he would be transported straight into Arsilan.
‘Oh!’
The Customization Room had changed.
His body floated in a space like some sort of temple. He was even clothed, looking like a veteran Hero.
‘Since I’ll be a mage, I’ll go with a skinny build…!’
Mark was fully committed to his concept.
He carefully sculpted his body and pressed the complete button. Soon, he would inhabit that body and transfer to Arsilan!
Swoosh!
As he entered the body, a scene completely different from what he expected unfolded.
In front of his eyes stood the Lord of Erosion. The figure was utterly destroyed, on the brink of death.
The Lord of Erosion collapsed, reaching a hand toward him. In that moment, his body began to slowly turn to stone.
“Huh? What is this...? Ugh?!”
His hands, feet, chest, and even neck turned to stone. It didn’t stop there, it reached all the way to his face.
His vision went black.
Whether he had turned entirely to stone or not, he could no longer see. He couldn’t hear anything either.
‘What in the world…’
Mark had no idea what was happening.
Suddenly, he felt slightly faint. Then after a moment, a humming sound reached his ears.
“Hero, Hero!”
A familiar voice called out.
At first, it was drowned out by the hum, but gradually it became clear. It was a voice Mark knew very well.
‘Leon?’
It was Leon’s urgent voice.
At that moment, a crack appeared before his eyes. He felt the stone on his face break away, and his vision returned.
Leon, gravely injured, let out a sigh of relief as he looked at him. When Mark moved his body, stone fragments fell from him with a clatter.
“You’ve awakened.”
“Leon…?”
“Yes, that’s right. Do you remember me?”
Mark nodded before he could even think.
Leon, relieved, extended his hand to Mark. Mark took it and sat up.
He had been lying inside a coffin.
Below Leon, a status window appeared and was translated in real time. Leon glanced at the translation window for a moment, then smiled faintly and spoke in English.
“After defeating the Lord of Erosion, you were sealed for a year, Hero. Because of the petrification curse, your memory must be hazy.”
“Uh..., yeah, I think so. But, you’re speaking English...?”
"As expected, you've lost your memory. You taught me before. It’s still a little awkward, right?”
It was slightly awkward, but still fully understandable.
“Sorry for waking you late. It took too long.”
Leon bowed his head.
Mark quickly shook his own.
“N-no, it’s fine.”
“You’re still kind as always, Hero.”
“Haha….”
Mark’s face flushed from Leon’s praise.
Leon explained that a year had passed since he had turned to stone. Mark quickly found himself immersed in those words.
Rumble!
The surroundings trembled, and stone debris fell from above. The place looked like a burial chamber.
"I brought all the weapons Hero could use."
Weapons were displayed in front of him.
They all looked quite excellent. Mark picked up a staff that shimmered with light.
“Magic has always been by your side, Hero.”
Leon looked at him with a nostalgic expression. Then, nodding, he drew his sword.
“I’ll escort you outside.”
Mark followed Leon out of the burial chamber and walked down a long corridor. Then something like a black shadow dropped from above and attacked Leon. In that instant, Mark’s staff lit up and a status window appeared.
Magic he could use was now visible before him.
“Fireball!”
A massive fireball shot out and obliterated the black shadow. Leon gave him a thumbs-up as he looked on.
“You’re strong, as expected.”
“H-ha ha….”
He had a general sense of how to use magic now. For more complex spells, it looked like separate calculations would be necessary. And so, he fought alongside Leon and made his way upward.
‘I’m kind of cool, aren’t I?’
He didn’t say it, but he definitely felt that way.
But that feeling didn’t last long. It vanished with the sight that soon spread before his eyes.
He had arrived at a place overlooking Arsilan.
The place where the cabin had once stood.
The cabin where the Hero’s photo had been hung had collapsed, and now only a space leading to the underground burial chamber remained in its place. He had come out of that place with Leon.
“Ah….”
Arsilan had been consumed by black mist and shadow. Everything except for this place had vanished. Horrific things that had emerged from the flickering space had become a tidal wave that swept away all of Arsilan.
Thick black liquid dripped from the sky, and the wailing cries of souls could be heard.
Even this place was no longer safe.
Leon gazed at the sight with Mark, then let out a long sigh.
The black liquid devoured its surroundings as it crept closer. Mark was frozen in place at the overwhelming sight.
“You are our final hope, Hero. With the last remaining power of the miracle, I will send you back into the past.”
“Huh?”
The black liquid grabbed Leon’s feet.
His body was being dyed black, but Leon still smiled at him. He took out a Hero’s Flower, glowing faintly with light, from his chest.
Leon's heart and soul that had created the Holy Sword dwelt in the hero's flower. And he quietly sent it flying toward Mark's chest.
“W-wait…!”
Rumbleeeee!
A golden magic circle rose beneath Mark’s feet. As Leon looked at it, he extended his hand and activated the magic circle.
“Hero, please change history and save us.”
Mark’s body floated up into the air. He reached out his hand toward Leon, but Leon only smiled as he looked at him.
Swoosh!
The moment Leon’s body was completely devoured by the black liquid.
Flaaash!
His body turned into light and soared into the sky. Mark watched Leon’s final moment with a hollow expression.
[Will you change a future filled only with despair?]
Yes <– No
A prompt appeared.
Of course, Mark chose to change the future.
[O Hero who shall forget everything and begin anew, what is your name?]
“…MagicMark.”
With a solemn expression, he uttered his Hero name.
[Hero MagicMark, please become the light for Arsilan.]
The status window dissolved into particles of light.
Kwaaaah!
His body began to shoot upward even faster.
He pierced through the sky covered in black liquid, shattering through space as he soared higher.
Mark could see it.
There were countless other Heroes ascending into the sky alongside him. Some were shedding streams of tears, others clenched their fists tightly.
He even saw Heroes trembling just like he was.
Together with those countless Heroes, he passed through falling starlight. Before their eyes, Arsilan, bathed in radiant light, came into view.
They had arrived in the past, having crossed through time!
The countless lights split into separate streams and fell to the ground.
Flaaash!
MagicMark arrived in Arsilan with the ring of light. Around him were numerous Heroes who had connected at the same time.
Thud!
MagicMark dropped to his knees, powerless.
Some might think this was just a tutorial.
But he could never think that way. Leon had sacrificed everything to send him into the past!
They had shared deep memories, and he had only lost them because of the petrification curse!
Tears welled up in MagicMark’s eyes.
“Khk!”
“Uwaaah!”
“Huhuhuu! Leon-nim….”
“From now on, I’ll live for revenge.”
Many Heroes around him felt the same way.
They were Heroes who had witnessed the fall of Arsilan and returned to the past.
So let’s give everything we have to protect Arsilan!
