Chapter 1014: Uncanny Lecture II
Chapter 1014: Uncanny Lecture II
While the blonde was still busy rummaging through his memories, trying to piece together every interaction he’d ever had, a voice broke through his spiraling thoughts.
"Just like before the relationship became official, once the initial attraction starts to fizzle out, it’s important to go back to the roots and restart the cycle of attraction and seduction."
"In fact, to avoid having it fizzle out, it would be better to practice consistency and early detection. Rather than being reactive, I personally suggest being more proactive."
Luca felt like he was hearing something incredibly important for the harmonious life he was going for.
But his eyes sharpened slightly as he processed the words because it was clearly a warning for something unimaginable.
A passionate relationship...fizzling out?
For someone who was deeply in love, it was difficult for him to understand just how that could be possible. But it wasn’t like he had not witnessed it before.
Before experiencing the beauty of love, he too didn’t think much about people’s relationship, especially when for the longest time that simply translated to him as a compatibility percentage.
However, he had long since developed a different outlook on life after seeing his parents and even experiencing it for himself.
Therefore, Luca momentarily calmed down and tried to think rationally. If it was a problem, then surely there had to be signs, symptoms, or something they should be watching out for.
So he asked the ladies earnestly. "If something like that happens... would there be ways to tell?"
The ladies shuddered at that, but refused to imagine bad scenarios about the relationship that had been made public earlier.
Their faces turned red almost instantly.
"W-Well..." one of them started, clearly unsure. "Is it really alright for us to say...?"
Luca blinked, then quickly realized what they were worried about.
"Of course," he said at once, nodding. "You can say everything. In fact, if you could give examples, that would be even better."
"..."
The ladies hesitated.
But Luca, noticing their hesitance, didn’t stop there.
"We’ve been rather busy for a long time," he continued, his voice softening, turning a little wistful. "And maybe we missed out on learning something important."
He lowered his gaze slightly before looking back at them with sincerity.
"So I was hoping to hear more about this... so I can use the information well in the future."
"...!"
That did it.
The ladies clutched at their hearts.
How could they possibly refuse something like that?
Even if it was a little embarrassing...they had no choice.
"Well then," one of them said, clearing her throat. "If you really don’t mind, I’ll just talk about my personal experience since that’s really the best that I can do for now."
"Ahem."
"Based on what happened to me," she began, choosing her words carefully, "you’ll start noticing a difference in your interactions."
"Not necessarily less time spent together," she clarified, "but less effort in insisting that you both find ways to be together."
Luca nodded slowly, definitely searing that into his mind.
Then she continued.
"And then...intimacy."
Her face grew noticeably red.
"At the start of a passionate relationship, intimacy tends to be very high. But as time passes, there’s less of everything until... you feel like there’s almost nothing left."
Ollie blinked.
"...Intimacy?"
"Yes, my lord," she answered, still flushed. "If before the problem was restraining yourselves from overindulging in being overly intimate, then when a relationship starts to fizzle out..."
"There would be far less spontaneous affection," she continued. "Fewer kisses, and almost no more... nighttime adventures."
"Marla!" one of the other ladies gasped, clearly embarrassed.
But Marla simply frowned slightly, still flustered but resolute.
"What? I’m just being honest," she said. "It really went from multiple times a day to zero!"
"...?!"
"That was the easiest way to tell," she added, her tone gaining a bit more force. "And don’t even get me started on how much effort I had to put in just to try and revive something that was already hanging by a thread!"
The other ladies gasped again.
"Marla—!"
"From jumping at me just because our eyes met," she went on, gesturing with her hands, "it turned into me practically twisting myself into all sorts of shapes just to get a reaction!"
"And still nothing!"
"...?!"
The ladies quickly moved to comfort her.
"Marla, that’s enough—"
"Let’s not—"
But Marla waved them off.
"Thank you," she said, taking a breath. "But I’m fine now."
"That was before," she added more calmly. "And he’s an ex for a reason."
"We just weren’t compatible enough, even after trying."
She shrugged lightly.
"I don’t hold it against him. We were both new back then. We didn’t really know what we were doing so we couldn’t repair the relationship that we didn’t take good care of."
The group fell into a softer mood as they patted each other’s backs.
But none of them noticed what was happening in front of them.
Because the two men who had been shining so brightly just moments ago—
Had wilted gray.
Luca stood there, frozen, thinking.
So that’s what happens when people don’t know enough...
The blonde brother, on the other hand, looked like he had just been hit by something far worse than everything that had been said.
It was as if the normally lively star had dried and cracked as he realized something very important.
They’d only been kissing.
Lots and lots of kissing.
And until today, he had never once questioned it.
Not even a little.
Now, suddenly, he wasn’t so sure.
So, hesitantly, he raised his hand.
"Excuse me..." he said, his voice slightly uncertain. "I have this friend..."
The ladies turned to him.
"And I remember not knowing how to answer a question I was asked before," he continued. "So I wanted to ask..."
He swallowed.
"Is there a problem when nothing has ever followed kissing...?"
"..."
Silence.
Complete silence.
For some reason, Ollie felt like he had done the right thing by asking it that way.
Because—
Why did everyone suddenly look so twitchy?
But if they were all twitching like they’ve been electrocuted, then what more for one handler who inevitably heard all that and more?
