Chapter 395 - 385: The Quality is Yet to be Tested!
"Is there anything else?" After reining in the Evil Spirit Zen Stick, Qin Fan looked at Lai Zhuge and Ye Jizu with a faint chuckle.
"No, nothing else!" the two of them responded dazedly, seemingly oblivious to Qin Fan’s subtle hint that he wanted them to leave.
"If there’s nothing else, you two should head back. I won’t keep you any longer," Qin Fan stated plainly, seeing as they weren’t taking the hint.
"Master Qin, about that... those people—I mean, what if..." As soon as Ye Jizu heard Qin Fan dismissing them, he became anxious.
"Are you afraid that those bastards after Spiritual Water No. 1 will target you and cause you trouble?"
At Qin Fan’s teasing, playful tone, Ye Jizu nodded awkwardly. He was genuinely scared.
"The Guardian Institute has already taken action! Don’t worry, they won’t be thinking about bothering you. Besides, if something happened to you, it would be a slap in my face. Do you think I would allow that to happen? So, go back home, get some good sleep, and don’t burden yourself with these worries," Qin Fan advised with a leisurely smile.
Within the range of his Divine Sense, the people from the Guardian Institute had already clashed with those bastards.
Receiving such an answer from Qin Fan and seeing his unconcerned expression, Ye Jizu had nothing more to say, though he was still uneasy. He simply stated, "Alright then, Master Qin, I’ll be going!"
"Go ahead." Qin Fan waved to him, then turned to Lai Zhuge. "Lai Shenxiang, you should go with him."
"Yes, yes, Master Qin. Forgive the intrusion," Lai Zhuge couldn’t help but say politely before leaving.
Qin Fan watched as their car departed from No. 1 Villa, then let out a soft breath. He walked back to the railing on the rooftop terrace, closed his eyes, and used his Divine Sense to perceive the Guardian Institute’s every move.
One hour passed, then three, then six. After a full six hours, Qin Fan, who had been as still as a statue, slowly opened his eyes.
During those six hours, the agents of the Guardian Institute had scoured nearly all of Jiangzhou in a ruthless, life-or-death manhunt. Thankfully, it was the middle of the night; otherwise, such a relentless pursuit would have certainly caused absolute panic.
Four waves of assailants, nearly fifty people in total, had all died at the hands of the Guardian Institute that night.
Gazing at the whitening horizon, Qin Fan chuckled to himself. "The ones who came were just small fry. Their true quality is yet to be seen."
Muttering this, he slowly descended from the rooftop.
Since it was still early, Qin Chu and Wei Shuying had not yet woken up. Taking advantage of this rare quiet moment, Qin Fan walked into the kitchen and personally prepared a full breakfast spread.
「The time jumped to six o’clock.」
Following their long-established biological clocks, Qin Chu and Wei Shuying emerged from their rooms at the same time. However, the moment they smelled the aroma wafting from the dining room, they both froze.
"What in the world is going on?" Qin Chu yawned, his voice full of wonder.
"Don’t tell me Xiao Fan is cooking breakfast?" Wei Shuying responded, equally baffled.
"That’s ridiculous! Him? He struggles with frying an egg, so how could he possibly make breakfast?"
Even as Qin Chu said this, his feet carried him into the dining room, his expression full of doubt. Through the glass separating the kitchen from the dining area, he saw Qin Fan, all smiles and wearing an apron, boiling milk.
"What is happening? Did that little brat really make all this? How is that possible?" Qin Chu exclaimed in astonishment.
Wei Shuying, who had followed him in, looked just as bewildered. Without wasting words, she quickly slid open the glass door and looked at Qin Fan. "Xiao Fan, did you make all of this breakfast?"
"I did!" As if he had anticipated his parents’ shock, Qin Fan beamed with a radiant smile. "I finally had some time, so I thought I’d whip up a meal for you two! And Mom, don’t think I’m just messing around. I may not have shown off my cooking skills before, but I’ve built up a solid foundation of theoretical knowledge over the years! Haha, hurry up and eat. I have to catch a plane back to school soon!"
It was true that in his past life on Earth, Qin Fan had never cooked, struggling even to fry an egg. But on the Cangqiong Continent, how could someone accustomed to Earth’s delicacies stomach such bland, simple meals? When eating became his only pursuit outside of growing stronger, mastering the culinary arts was a trivial matter.
"You really made this? Are you joking? In all the years I’ve raised you, when have you ever set foot in a kitchen?" Wei Shuying asked, still in disbelief.
"Who else could it be? It’s not like I’m hiding a mistress here. Come on, Mom, you should go wash up before it gets cold. The milk is almost ready. Go on!" With a carefree laugh, Qin Fan slid the glass door shut again.
Seeing this, Qin Chu and Wei Shuying exchanged glances, both seeing utter disbelief in each other’s eyes. After sharing a smile, they intuitively headed toward the bathroom.
Ten minutes later, after freshening up and sitting down at the dining table, the couple’s eyes widened in amazement as they picked up the food on their plates.
Before they could speak, Qin Fan, seemingly predicting their thoughts, interjected with a grin. "I really made it! Theoretical knowledge can produce a culinary god! If you’re really that surprised, you should be marveling at how you managed to have such a talented son, haha!"
"Qin Chu, it seems we’ve missed out on a lot! If we had known this little brat had this talent, we should have put him in charge of breakfast long ago!" Wei Shuying joked with a laugh, her mouth full of food.
"Would you have the heart to make him?" Qin Chu laughed heartily as he sipped his porridge.
"By the way, Mom, Dad, I forgot to tell you something," Qin Fan said lightly. "Old Ye just called. He said those jerks who were after Spiritual Water No. 1 have been dealt with by the authorities. So you have nothing to worry about. You can just go on with your lives as usual."
He then glanced at their hands. Seeing that his mother’s bracelet and his father’s thumb ring were still radiating a strong aura, he felt relieved, but he still couldn’t help but add, "Mom, Dad, remember never to take off the bracelet and the thumb ring! You must remember that!"
Without asking why, they nodded earnestly in the face of Qin Fan’s serious tone. As Qin Fan grew more mysterious and one unbelievable event followed another, they found they no longer had the desire to interfere or probe too deeply into his affairs.
A joyful breakfast passed in laughter and cheer, ending after more than half an hour.
When the clock ticked past seven, Qin Chu and Wei Shuying suddenly remembered that Qin Fan’s flight was at eight. They immediately hurried out of the house and sped toward the airport in their Mercedes.
Amid Qin Fan’s resigned, wry smile, he was held back at the airport by his mother’s nagging for what felt like an eternity before she finally let him go.
Looking back at the two faces he held in his heart with immense love, he grinned, waved his hand, and shouted, "I’ll cook breakfast for you both again when I come back next time!"
With that, he strode boldly into the boarding gate.
