The Rejected Cleopatra

The Huntress Reborn

The Huntress Reborn

The scent of burning incense filled the air. The torches lining the walls of the underground temple flickered, casting long, jagged shadows. In the center of the chamber, Cleopatra stood tall, her form transformed.

Gone was the fragile princess who had once been forced into hiding.

Now, she was a warrior queen.

She wore a breastplate forged from bronze, intricately engraved with the symbol of the Eye of Horus. A golden headpiece adorned her dark curls, and around her waist, a curved sword hung, gleaming under the firelight.

She turned to the hundreds who had answered her call—warriors, scholars, priests, and even peasants who had once doubted her.

But now?

Now they knelt before her, pledging their loyalty.

Maahes stepped forward, his muscular arms crossed over his chest. His gaze, sharp and knowing, met Cleopatra’s.

"Are you ready?" he asked.

Cleopatra didn’t hesitate.

"I was born ready."

A murmur of approval rippled through the crowd. The soldiers, clad in their armor, raised their weapons. The scholars, dressed in simple robes, bowed their heads. Even the priests, who had once feared her, now stood as her allies.

Akhenaten’s rule had fractured Egypt.

But tonight, Cleopatra would unite it.

The great stone table before her was covered in scrolls, maps, and wooden figurines representing their forces. She traced her fingers over the map, stopping at the heavily guarded city of Thebes.

"Akhenaten will not expect us to strike so soon," said Maahes, placing a dagger on the map. "He’ll be busy securing his gold, fortifying his strongholds. His forces will be spread thin."

Cleopatra nodded. "Then we take advantage of that. We move tonight."

A murmur spread through the room. One of the generals, an older man with graying hair, frowned. "It’s too soon. We need more time to gather supplies."

"We don’t have time," Cleopatra said sharply. "Akhenaten won’t wait. Every moment we delay, he grows stronger."

A young warrior stepped forward. "Then let’s make sure he doesn’t see us coming."

Cleopatra smiled. "Exactly."

She turned to her priests. "Can your men create diversions? Fires in the eastern villages? Rumors of an attack on the trade routes?"

One of the priests, an older man draped in a white robe, nodded. "We can make the people believe Akhenaten has angered the gods. They will turn against him."

Cleopatra’s gaze hardened. "Good. Make sure the rumors spread by sunrise."

The warriors gathered in a circle, each gripping their weapons tightly. Cleopatra stood in the center, lifting her sword high above her head.

“Swear to me," she said, her voice echoing off the temple walls. "Swear that you fight not just for me—but for Egypt. For our people. For our future."

One by one, they stepped forward, slashing their palms and letting their blood drip onto the sacred altar.

"For Egypt!" they roared.

Cleopatra felt the weight of their loyalty settle on her shoulders.

This was it.

She had become more than a Queen.

She was a huntress reborn.

The sun had barely risen when Cleopatra and her warriors moved swiftly through the desert sands, their cloaks billowing behind them. The golden city of Thebes loomed ahead, its gates heavily guarded.

The first fires lit up the eastern horizon. Screams rang through the night as Akhenaten’s men scrambled to put them out.

Cleopatra saw the chaos and knew it was time. She turned to Maahes. "Are the archers in position?"

He nodded. "They await your command."

Cleopatra took a deep breath, lifting her gaze toward the stars.

This was for her father.

For Egypt.

For the future she would carve with her own hands.

She raised her sword.

"Attack!"

The battle for Egypt had begun.
