Chapter 63: Marcus Vs Marbas (2)
Chapter 63: Marcus Vs Marbas (2)
Marcus stepped to his right and caught Raum’s blade-turning arm the moment it took a full swing.
He held it, coating Raum’s whole arm with his aura, and kicked to the side of his ribcage.
Raum skidded on the ground and came to a halt a little away from both of them.
The movement of Marcus was swift; they didn’t carry any murderous intent, nor was it backed by power. It was a casual psychological trick of diversion, and Raum fell for it.
"Can you create that barrier once again?" Marcus asked Janus.
Janus didn’t answer; he just nodded.
<<
A black veil draped the crater in the centre of the county once again.
And Marcus took it out of his black and silver index ring.
The effects of the ring wore off, revealing his original appearance.
His skin turned extremely fair, his eyes gleamed with unusual red, his earrings took the shape of a crescent moon, and his facial features turned sharper and more refined.
Janus could actually feel that Ymir, even though strong, was extremely unstable. The moment he took a breath, his aura leaked, reaching every corner within a mile.
Two dark katanas appeared on either side of Ymir as he spread his arms and gripped them tight.
He took a deep breath and exhaled.
He crossed his blades in opposite directions.
And made a horizontal slash.
There was a silent glitch for an instance.
Raum’s body moved instantly.
He reacted faster than he thought, his muscles compressed, his skin stiffened in scales, ducking to avoid.
But he was too late for that, and could not save one of his wrists while leaning back.
However, he didn’t let it fall. Raum knew from the first cut that injuries inflicted by those blades refused to heal.
So, he held his wrist and surged his demonic energy within his sliced wrist, holding every nerve, tendon, and piece of flesh together and connecting all with his demonic energy.
His lips curled into a smile.
<<
His body expanded subtly. His veins darkened, muscles tightened, and the density of his demonic energy corroded the ground beneath.
His body shot forward, a spear made of his own flesh appeared in his arm, with a thrust aimed at Ymir’s heart.
Ymir crossed his blades.
*TUNG*
The impact cracked the ground beneath them
Black metallic chains shot towards Raum from his left, and he noticed the same familiar technique of Janus.
Raum kicked the ground, flipping his body as chains passed just below his body.
He shot his spear into the joints of the chains, pinning a few of them down, and manifested a sword, cutting the remaining chains in rapid movements of raw form.
Ymir’s right katana angled towards Raum, the left hovered slightly higher, angled across the chest.
His swords moved with a raw surge of aura that not only cut the chains around Raum, but forced him to go all defensive by draping his body in dense demonic energy.
Raum lowered his stance, ducking the higher one, and kicked the back of the lowered one by twisting his body mid air, and landed on the ground.
He scoffed, "Petty tricks. You and your friend. You humans are so petty,"
Ymir paused. He tilted his head and nodded.
"You wanna see what’s petty?" he raised his arms and opened his palms.
The katanas vanished.
Raum’s pupils shrank.
There was no aura fluctuation now. It was as if his old display of power was just a disguise.
Just then...
*Shiing*
A blade reappeared.
Raum knew this feeling very well; he ducked behind, but the moment he leaned back, he felt another katana at the back.
He twisted his body mid-movement and ducked low, only to find the katanas had vanished again.
But for a moment, he was too focused on the katanas to miss a punch swing at his jaw as Ymir glitched to his right.
*Boom*
The fist connected, and the aura burst and cracked the dome once again, deepening the crater in the ground and sending Raum flying back.
Another blade appeared in the path of his moment as it skidded on the ground.
He tried to evade this one, but the blade carved into his shoulder.
He shifted again, only to find Ymir appearing back in front of him, and swinging his katana in a fine horizontal arc.
And so the little game of duck and go began.
Raum ducked again.
And Ymir kicked him.
A blade reappeared in Raum’s path, so he twisted.
Only to find Ymir swinging back again.
Then, Raum ducked again.
And again, Ymir kicked him.
A blade reappeared in Raum’s path, so he twisted again.
Only to find Ymir swinging back again.
His katanas would vanish and appear so fast that even without using any technique, the movements of Ymir were getting hard to track.
Janus looked at the scene, completely at a loss for words. They were appearing and disappearing faster than his eyes could track. And they both were moving all across the field.
Only then for a moment. Raum’s eyes narrowed.
This was a simple death loop.
He paused mid-step.
The blade appeared. It cut across his side, taking a clean hit.
Dark black blood spilt.
Instead of focusing on the wound, Raum drew his blood even more to the point he could form a sharp blade from it.
"Blade. Pressure. Blindside." Raum mumbled.
"Now that’s...petty," Ymir said.
"Marbas are the warriors of the demonic realm. And I acknowledge you not as my prey," Raum spoke, and took a stance holding the sword made of his blood.
"But as my opponent."
*Shiiing*
A blade appeared once again. But this time, Raum blurred out of site and stepped onto it.
He was adapting to sense the blade appear out of nowhere.
He was adapting to the changes in his aura.
Because he noticed that Ymir had no core, he was using the raw aura stored within his body.
The leak at the beginning of the fight was a strategy to spread the remnants of his aura so that he could use it anytime he wanted.
The man in front of him was a cunning warrior.
"Oh, I’m honoured," Ymir said.
