Chapter 203 - 162: The Turtle Shell Rises Again, The Advantage is Mine, "Rolling Fortune" Fate Grid

Throne Hidden Dragon, Great Yan’s crisis, the struggle between the Three Religions and the Demon Race, Rolling Fortune, the advantage is mine. All karma must converge for Opportunity to manifest.

Lu Mingyuan saw the reappeared divination reading, and his mind raced to analyze the current situation.

This great calamity must have been orchestrated by the Demon Race, with the clear purpose of retaliating against Great Yan.

For the past hundred years, Great Yan has held its Demon Slaying Conference, making an example of some to intimidate others and specifically targeting the weak. This undoubtedly infuriated the Great Demons who hold the thrones.

The Demon Race resides in the Wilderness World, a direct opposition to the Central Plains Dynasty in the west. They are the second greatest enemy after the Great Nether Sacred Country. The Wilderness is home to myriad races where thrones are contested and the strong are revered. Rumor has it that each Great Demon seated upon a throne is called a Demon Emperor, with power comparable to the Three Religions’ Saints.

’They must be in the Upper Three Grades, at least,’ Lu Mingyuan estimated.

The Dragon Eyes he had just seen outside the Changle Palace’s barrier definitely belonged to a Great Demon above the Twelfth Realm.

The two True Monarchs from the Daoist Academy were no match for it at all.

Their exact words were still fresh in Lu Mingyuan’s mind: "This place has been locked onto by a Wilderness Great Demon."

In other words, the self-destruction of the three National Preceptors was merely a feint.

The Desolate Demons knew that Great Yan holds the Demon Slaying Conference every two years, so they planned this ambush.

Their true goal was to use the National Preceptors’ self-destruction to track the resulting fluctuations in Demon Qi. This would allow them to locate the Demon Slaying Conference’s Inner Space. Then, using a Great Divine Technique, they would lock onto the ethereal space and shatter the bubble-like dimension with immense power. Everyone inside would then fall into the Wilderness, exposed.

As for the prodigies and Human Race experts, they would be scattered by the spatial turbulence and separated, making them easy to pick off one by one.

’All for the sake of revenge?’

Lu Mingyuan rubbed his brow.

’Willing to sacrifice eight hundred of their own to kill a thousand of the enemy... These Wilderness Great Demons are truly ruthless.’

’The first part of the reading explained the cause, but what about the solution?’

’All karma must converge for Opportunity to manifest?’

’What does that even mean? Do I have to shoulder the karmic consequences myself to obtain this Opportunity?’

In a flash, Lu Mingyuan had already thought through many things. Three clusters of light emerged from the mottled, ancient Six-Yao Turtle Shell.

Middle Trigram of Good Fortune: Head west toward the Ten Thousand Peaks, to Dragon Hanging Mountain. Blessing: You will obtain a great Opportunity. Curse: The hearts of men are not to be trusted; show no compassion and you will have no future troubles. You can obtain the "Fluorescent Green Fate Grid - Rolling Fortune." Moderately auspicious!

Middle Trigram of Evil: Head east toward the Poison Barrier Marsh, to Ghostly Cold Valley. Blessing: You will obtain a meager Opportunity. Curse: You risk a violent death. Highly inauspicious!

Lower Trigram of Good Fortune: Stay put and observe the situation, awaiting rescue by Human Race experts. Blessing: You will speed up the rescue, attracting experts who will offer their protection. Curse: You will be besieged by fierce beasts. There is a 98% chance of surviving this ordeal. Slightly auspicious!

After reading the trigrams, Lu Mingyuan’s path became clear.

He automatically ruled out the inauspicious trigram, leaving two options. The third option, staying put, offered rescue from Human Race experts but required a fight. The outcome was stated clearly; since it was "slightly auspicious," it meant his own strength was sufficient to overcome the siege.

’But from my perspective,’ Lu Mingyuan thought, ’a mere ninety-eight percent chance of survival? When you get right down to it, what’s the difference between that and suicide?’

’Too risky. Far too risky.’

’The first option is much better.’

Lu Mingyuan scanned the Trial Arena, his gaze falling upon the many corpses below the city walls. There were bodies of all kinds—Wolf Demons, Pig Demons, and Bear Demons—as well as the still-warm, bleeding corpses of Human Race Cultivators.

Most were prodigy cultivators from smaller nations. They had no real power, yet they had insisted on wading into these troubled waters.

When the barrier shattered, there was no time to save them. They were torn apart by hordes of Demons, dying in a bloody struggle.

The corpses at the scene were piled high as mountains. Ultimately, the Demons were more numerous, accounting for seventy percent of the dead.

Lu Mingyuan also tried to find Lu Guangjing’s body.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t find it.

It wasn’t just him; he didn’t see the bodies of any of the other Princes either.

Lu Mingyuan specifically looked for the bodies of the Crown Prince of Great Sui, the Silver Frost Heir, and the Nanli Princess, but they seemed to be missing as well.

’It seems something happened here. They must have been forced to leave ahead of time.’

’So, the only ones who died were the weaklings.’

Suddenly, from a corner piled with corpses just outside Lu Mingyuan’s line of sight, a Bloodthirsty Werewolf that wasn’t quite dead stirred. Its body was shattered, but clinging to its last breath, it still managed to raise five sharp claws and stab at Lu Mingyuan’s back.

SHING!

The ring of a blade descended from above.

A masked Iron Blood Shadow Warrior holding a long blade emerged from a reflection in a pool of blood. In the blink of an eye, it melted back into the blood and vanished.

With a THUD, the werewolf’s head hit the ground, splattering blood everywhere.

"Yaaawn~"

Lu Mingyuan let out a lazy yawn, unconcerned. His five senses were sharp, and he suddenly realized that the stench of blood would attract the attention of numerous Demons.

There was no time to waste. He strode westward.

"Time to head out. To the Ten Thousand Peaks’ Dragon Suspended Mountain."

And so, a lone figure began to journey through the great wilderness.

Occasionally, a fierce bird in the forest would catch the scent of a human and dive in that direction.

But in the blink of an eye, it would be mercilessly decapitated by a masked Blood Armor Soldier and fall dead in the woods.

"There are far too many Demons in this Wilderness," Lu Mingyuan muttered. "Just where in this vast expanse am I?"

Lu Mingyuan grumbled as he traveled, all the while controlling an Earth Shadow Warrior from his Blood Shadow Legion. The warrior acted as a scout, slaying any Demons encountered along the way and sweeping through them like an autumn wind through fallen leaves.

’Perhaps the only benefit of ending up here...’

’...is that there are no restrictions on my power. I can kill as I please.’

’Plus, there are plenty of Demons. By killing them and absorbing the Essence from their demonic bodies, my Cultivation can increase slightly.’

"Heaven and Earth Concealment Talisman."
