Chapter 963: How They Will Move Against a Suspicious Person
Chapter 963: How They Will Move Against a Suspicious Person
"I see. So using this game of tag, we will be able to learn to move more carefully. Being tagged means death if it’s in a real battle. So you and Victoria made this game with that kind of mindset so we can learn to move more efficiently to avoid getting one-shotted by the enemy," Shirley said.
"That’s right. Though because this is just a game, the others can still learn of what they can do even outside of battle. Like giving information or doing other things. The monsters are getting smarter and stronger," I said.
It has been a few days since the report that Shirley and Julia has reached master level. And after I brought them back to their own home yesterday, I brought them here to Monsters World. To let them watch the kids playing tag with the monsters.
I also brought Celestine and Veronica to play the game. It was fun and we learned more.
We played the game after the kids’ turn. And the winner for today’s game was me. Again, it was a really close victory.
I would never expect that Shelia, Arin, Tia, Graham, Crabbe, Tiger, Centaur, Spot, and some other extremely powerful monster compared to the average monster would team-up against me.
They did really well. But Because they didn’t have much experience in cooperating together in a situation where killing is not possible, I managed to gain victory by teaming-up with Victoria. Though in the end, when there were three of us left, Victoria got eliminated. And I used that chance to eliminate Shelia.
As for Shirley and Julia, they got eliminated quite early because they’re still not used to this. But Celestine and Veronica had some experience in the game, so they did quite well.
We have also started to allow magic. But it’s just low-level beginner magic. Or someone will really die if they use stronger magic.
After experiencing the game and witnessing it until the end, Shirley and Julia understood the intention of the game really well.
"In real battle, just one magic attack could kill you. Even if it’s a stray magic attack. So using this game, we can also learn on how to avoid those attacks to not get done in quickly," Julia said.
"Also, the monsters have started to look for a way to also kill the enemy in one hit. They tried to get the finishing move that won’t cost them too much energy or mana so they can move on to the next target as quickly as possible. With this, our troops will only get stronger even if it’s by playing a game," I said.
I didn’t see everything, but I learned it after playing the games several times with the monsters.
Their movement have become more efficient. There’s less useless gestures in their attack. And they became stronger since they focused on one target to attack.
They also asked me a few times for a spar to test their new techniques. Although I can endure them all, if it’s any average master level mages, they could die if they don’t have barrier cast around them. So this game of tag is way more successful than I thought it would be.
"I see. A strong attack that will kill the enemy in an instant without wasting too much mana or energy will be useful in long battle. If it’s targeted to the enemy’s vitals, then I can make it less powerful as long as it hit. But if it’s not the vital, then I have to make it stronger to have more impact in the battle even if the enemy won’t die from it."
Shirley started talking to herself about what she will do next. And so was Julia.
Now that four master level mages are here, they can discuss with each other about their strength and weaknesses. Veronica and Shirley can also look for a new move together since they’re both master level wind mages.
"More importantly, why are you wearing a wig and a beard?" Julia asked.
"Because after this, it should be the time for Robby, my fake identity, to return home after finishing his quest," I said.
That’s right. For the whole day today, even when we were playing tag, I have been wearing my disguise as Robby. Even though I don’t have to wear them at all time.
After this, I will return back to Robby’s city acting as if I had just finished an easy quest.
This will be the second time I act as Robby. So I don’t think the cult will be suspicious of Robby yet.
"Alright, I think I get what you’re trying to do. So Roy, when you’re free next time, would you like to spar with me? I think I have something good I can use after playing this game," Shirley asked.
"Me too. I think being able to have a sparring partner is really great," Julia said.
Celestine and Veronica also nodded in agreement. And even though I agree with them, I don’t really enjoy being used as a sandbag. Though this is something only I can do.
As long as it’s for the good of everyone, I’ll endure it. Though I think that testing their magic on the Crab People’s hard shell is a good idea as well.
After that, I brought everyone back to their country. As for the Alan and Lana, they’re still staying in Cassau since Luna didn’t have anyone to take care of her in Arturo as her mother and brother were still busy trying to get stronger.
Then I opened a portal to the forest near where Robby lives. Since this is no longer a game, I no longer have any handicap and I can use Divine Vision again.
There’s no one suspicious here. So I returned back to the city normally and entered the guild while being fully alert.
"Welcome back, Robby. Have you finished the quest?" the receptionist asked.
It’s just a fake quest anyway. This fake guild has been cut off from the real guild. Even if there are some hunters coming from outside the city, the receptionist will say that all the quests have been taken by the local hunters.
Even so, they’re all still acting as if they are being wary of the cult’s every action. Though none of them were here at all.
By the way, I can see under the desk of the receptionist. She has been told that I have the ability to see-through things. For some reason, she’s fine with it.
Anyway, under the desk, there’s a paper with her writing saying that there’s one man coming in the city while I’m gone, then left soon before I returned. He left to the south of the city.
Since we’re still being wary of the cult, everyone here whom we didn’t recognize were considered as suspicious. So I was told that she will report everything this way. Writing on paper and put it under the desk.
Then when I gave the signal that I have read the report, I also gave the signal that there’s no one suspicious nearby so she can use her fire magic to burn that paper.
What a detailed plan. Good thing I have Victoria to remind me if I ever forgot anything.
After rudely asked for the reward for the quest, I buy some more alcohol before returning back to Robby’s house. Then I opened a portal and this time, I didn’t go back to Cassau.
I’m going to investigate that suspicious man.
One man entered the city and left in less than a day. That’s suspicious.
Even though I’m sure that there are other agents following that man, I will still check it myself before I return home.
If that man used to be a citizen in that city, the agents should have recognized him and suggested to evacuate him already. But they didn’t. So that man was a total stranger in the city.
And he left on his own as if he’s not afraid of monsters. I guess he must be pretty good then.
When I found his track, I could see three other agents following him. Those agents were shocked to sensed that someone was following them only to realize that it was me.
"So, who is he?" I asked.
"Probably from a village nearby. We thought that there shouldn’t be any village left nearby, but if it’s a new village, then it’s normal for it to not be drawn on a map. We’re trying to follow him first to see where he’s going," one agent said.
"Oh, he’s having a trouble fighting an orc. Should we help him?" I asked.
"...If he’s dying from just an orc, I don’t think he’s someone strong then," the agent said.
"But if he really die, then we won’t know where he’s going. What to do then?" I asked.
"Then we will act as a hunter party taking quest nearby. We were told to do it just in case. The other two will pretend to be a party of hunter while I will follow from afar," he said.
"If you’re prepared that much, then I don’t have any complain. I will return then. Good luck with your job," I said.
They have prepared many things for this mission to the point where I don’t think I will be needed unless there’s a real battle happening.
And so, I returned back to Cassau. If they find anything important, they will tell someone who will tell the kings who will tell me if it’s important for me to know. I just need to wait.
