Chapter 927: He’s the Archbishop!
Chapter 927: He’s the Archbishop!
Seems like everyone can take care of themselves.
Graham noticed where he is and contacted someone about it before he stopped the enemies from getting closer to Varadis.
Crabbe made a blockade and pushed those who tried to enter the portal with his water magic.
Shelia, well, she fought well against the strongest familiar of the priest, it seems. She still fought well against the mages after that, but her regeneration power has slowed down considerably.
Victoria and Ray will stay in the valley while defeating as many enemies over there. Though she asked me to finish with my matter quickly so I can bring help over there.
I’d like to open a portal right now, but here, there’s no reinforcement yet. I can only fight and wait until reinforcement arrive.
My phone keeps vibrating for a while already. Seems like it’s urgent. But I can’t pick the call here. There’s too many enemies.
I managed to put around a thousand mages inside the barrier before coming here. But outside of the barrier, there’s about a few hundreds of them. Then a few hundreds entered the portal where Graham is, another few hundreds to where Crabbe is, and it seems like we have the most enemies here with the number reaching almost a thousand it seems.
At least I’m not alone. Shelia is with me even though she’s tired. Though she’s still excited to have a fight.
I already know that in Graham’s and Crabbe’s location, reinforcement have already arrived. But I need to wait here.
Though it’s impossible to stop all of them. Some must have escaped already. Especially if they’re master level wind mages who can fly or earth mages who can hide under the ground. But I will try my best to reduce the number as much as possible.
The man in priest garb is still alive. I thought I threw him to the ground with full force. So I guess he’s a master level in both wind element and earth element. Because it seems like the ground got softened when he landed. Reducing the impact a bit.
And since he’s a master level mage, he already has strong body. Though the injury he received won’t be small.
This invasion is too soon. If the cult just patiently wait for another month, then we could have more master level mages as I would have brought many people to Spirit Mountain to cultivate.
But it already happened. We can only fight.
Though if we managed to stop the invasion, I will bring as many people as possible to the Spirit Mountain to cultivate. So when there’s another attack, I can just open a portal to the Spirit Mountain and all the strong mages we have will be ready to fight.
I’ll think about that later. For now, we have to stop as many mages as possible here until reinforcement arrive.
As for those who left first, I’m sure that Varadis already have some people protecting the capital. And old man Henry must have already instructed someone to evacuate the people. So the casualties should be minimal.
"Shelia, one order from me. Don’t die," I said to Shelia next to me.
"Let’s go!" Shelia shouted.
I run toward the priest’s location, while Shelia fought other enemies.
With a sword in my right hand, and the cane on my left, I killed everyone around me.
The cane is not sharp. But I can use Aura to make it works like a sword. Obviously, using Aura on a cane won’t make it as sharp as when I used Aura on a real sword. But this is enough.
And the cane itself is an Aura weapon. It’s more durable than normal cane.
I tried to draw lines again on the ground, but it seems like some of them have noticed that I can make a barrier by drawing a circle on the ground. So the earth mages who noticed it erased the lines I drew with their magic.
So there’s only direct confrontation left. And the priest is trying to leave again.
At least I have to stop him. He might be the leader of this invasion. And he might know about the whereabouts of the Evil God.
Using Blobbyrifle to shot a Blobbybullet filled with concentrated sleeping gas, I shot at the priest.
I’m just an expert level air mage. So the bullet was stopped easily by the priest with his hand. But the gas inside the bullet left and spread around the area. With the priest himself inhaled the most.
He became sleepy, but it’s not enough to make him sleep.
"Watch out for the bullet! There’s a sleeping gas inside the bullet! The Aura user is also an air mage!" the priest warned the others.
Well, there might be no other way for me to hide my identity anymore. If someone managed to escape, they will inform the cult about me. And they will start searching for a summoner who have air element as well.
A summoner and an air mage. And there’s a leader of a famous clan who fits the bill. Someone who has Angela, the strongest mage from the tournament, and even the Princess of Tatrama as members of his clan. So it is obvious that they will be able to find me soon.
It will still be the usual for me. Fighting the cult. But Albert will be much busier because the base of my clan, my house, is in Cassau. And Cassau will be the cult’s next target.
Some mages tried to stop me. But I shot several more bullets around the priest.
And when it get to where it’s most crowded with the enemy mages, I made the Blobbybullet disappeared. And the gas inside the bullets spread around the area.
"He’s not even a master level air mage! Just keep your focus and you won’t sleep even if you inhale it!" the priest shouted.
Oh, but you need to be wary. Because this is not sleeping gas.
When the earth mage near me made my body covered with stones to stop me, the gases were spreading.
This is one of the gases that I learned in the forbidden forest along with calming gas and other type of gas. And it’s from the trees with black leaves in the mysterious forest. The one that when someone inhale it, will increase their desire to kill anyone or anything nearby.
It might not be effective against strong master level mages. But even though I’m an expert level air mage, it’s good enough to be effective against weaker master level mages.
So when the priest didn’t change, some around him changed. And they started killing each other.
This is the most dangerous type of gas in my arsenal. So it’s a good thing that only Shelia and I are here.
"What are you doing?!"
"I’m not the enemy! Why are you... ARGH!"
Good. It’s quite effective even though only some of them got affected. I’ll try to spread it even more.
While I’m being covered in stones, I used my strength to get free from the entrapment before I punched the earth mage to death. Then I started spreading more of the gases.
Though those who were not affected killed their own allies. It’s not something strange to see that. But at least those who have gone crazy will help me delay them here.
The priest is busy defending himself against the attack of the people he brought here. He was confused, but he’s smart enough to notice that I’m the one who caused this.
And finally, I see reinforcement arrived. Wind mages lead by Veronica is coming here.
"Shelia, reinforcement are here! We can... Shelia?"
There’s no response from Shelia. I looked at where she is, and I can see that she got affected by the gases I spread. she’s on a killing spree without caring about the damage she received.
"...I forgot to use air magic on her," I said to myself.
Using air magic, she doesn’t need to take a breathe anymore for a while. But I forgot to use it, so she got affected and started killing everyone.
...At least it’s good that there’s only enemy here.
But it’s time to retreat. We need more people. So we have to let Veronica and the others to delay the enemy for as long as possible until I came here with more reinforcement.
I used air magic on Shelia to erase the effect the gas has on her before telling her to step back. Then Veronica approached me.
"Roy, that—"
Veronica tried to say something, but I’m in a hurry. So I interrupted her.
"No time to talk. Veronica, delay them as long as possible while I bring reinforcement!" I said.
"No, Roy. That man over there. He looks similar to the Archbishop that both Celestine and I recognized. Maybe that’s the real Archbishop," Veronica said.
Really? I looked at the priest that Veronica pointed. If that’s the archbishop, then I understand the priest garb.
But it also means that there’s a high chance that the Evil God is somewhere in the valley. And that means Victoria might be in trouble.
Well, if she’s in trouble, she will contact me via telepathy. I’ll just have to trust her to take care of everything.
"Veronica, no change in the plan. Delay them until I bring more reinforcement!" I said to Veronica.
I’m worried about Victoria and Ray. But I’m sure that they are fine.
