Chapter 1188: We are Really Related
Chapter 1188: We are Really Related
I woke up and left the tent. And I see people looking at me weirdly. I asked them what’s wrong and they told me that they’re curious to see Mai’s brother.
"We don’t know that yet for sure. I just know that my half-brother has the same ability as she is. Though we might still be relatives. Maybe not half-siblings. It’s possible that we’re distant cousins. And it’s possible that we’re not related at all. So don’t jump into conclusion first," I told them.
Today, I’m checking the village from the inside. Seeing how they’re living here and this time, not from the lake.
I asked the people there one by one about what they thought of the cult. And everyone here seems to hate them.
I also asked them if they knew about Mai’s ability to detect lies. And they knew that. I guess she told everyone about it.
Then in the afternoon, I met Mai who seems to have sorted her mind.
"What do you think about this village?" Mai asked.
"Is there really no way for anyone from the cult to have already investigated this village?" I asked Mai.
"I’m not sure yet. At least I have never seen anyone purposely coming here because of the harsh climate. And once in a while, I asked the people here if they have seen anyone suspicious. But no one coming. What do you want to do with this village?" Mai asked.
"I’m thinking of destroying the cult. They have a huge influence in this continent so I needed several places to be used as bases for the operation. This is just one of them. We already built another base in an empty island. As for the villagers here, you can ask the people in charge of the base later. They can choose to stay here or live in another place. I told you, my half-brother is a King. He can surely find a city or a village for the people here to live," I said.
"...So my half-brother is really a king," Mai said.
"...I said that I’m not sure yet. I have ways to find out about it. But whether or not you want to do it is up to you. I’m sure he and his family will be happy either way. If not, I can force them to be happy," I said.
"How are you going to force them to be happy?" Mai asked.
"I’m someone that all Kings in the other continent afraid to touch. They all will do what I want," I said.
"So you’re an even bigger King. But why are you here and not ruling your people?" she asked again.
"I’m a King, but I’m not really a King. At least I don’t have any territory in the other continent. My territory is somewhere most people can’t touch. You need to be awakened as a summoner to even have the chance to go there on your own. Though any summoner should be able to bring anyone there," I said.
Then she keeps asking me more questions about me, Albert, and Shirley. Then she asked me more about Marie, Alan, and Lana.
It seems like she has decided that we are her relatives. Seems like she really wants to have a family.
But I see in another tent that there’s a girl looking depressed. That’s Mai’s friend and someone she grew up with together like a sister. Helga. She doesn’t seem to want Mai to be taken.
"So, what do you think about this village?" Mai asked.
"I can make it better. Building a base here wouldn’t be bad. You’re acting as the village chief, right? How about you discuss it with the villagers on what they want to do. If they want to move, we can help them," I said.
"Okay. Then... about the way to confirm if I’m your half-sister. Can I have it now?" Mai asked.
"Are you sure? It’s not confirmed yet though. And the way to do it might be a bit painful," I said.
"It’s okay. I have always been curious about my real family. So I want to know about them," she said.
"I have ways to do it whether you are related to me or not. You don’t have to take the test," I said.
"But I want to do it."
I guess she’s determined. And I can’t just ignore her determination.
Well, I’ll take the easy way then. I’ll bring Arin here and have her drink Mai’s blood so she can compare Mai’s blood with mine.
Even if my blood taste more delicious since I’m an Aura Master, Arin told me that there are similarities between my blood and Shirley’s blood. Then I asked other vampires to test the taste of the blood between related siblings. They can really tell if someone is related or not.
"You can go ask the villagers then. Find me in my tent when you want to take the test. Just in case, ask the villagers if they are related with the cult or not and have them simply reply by yes or no. I need to make sure that this place is really safe. Can you do it?" I asked.
"I have asked them many times and will keep asking them more times in the future even if you never came here. They are used to it. I’ll ask them again today," she said.
Then I left to my tent and grabbed my phone to call Arin first to summon her. After calling Arin here, I had her drink my blood first before Mai arrives while I told her about this village.
"I need more blood to maintain my body temperature here so I’ll drink a bit more after I drink her blood," Arin said after she stopped drinking my blood.
Then I guess I will suffer from anemia for a bit.
Mai then enters my tent and curious about the girl next to me.
"This is Arin. She’s a Vampire Queen and is... working with me. She will drink her blood and compare it with my blood so she can tell if we’re related or not," I said.
"...Is it safe?" Mai asked.
"It is."
She knows I’m not lying so she prepares herself to have her blood sucked by Arin. And Arin took a small bite on Mai’s arm and drink a bit of her blood.
"Oh, I guess you are really related," Arin said.
I’m prepared for that answer so I’m not really surprised. Even so, Mai is really surprised. And she seems excited.
"Though rather than Roy, Shirley, or even the little twins, her blood tastes more similar to Albert. I guess it’s the ability to detect lies. In any case, congratulations. You are related," Arin said.
I wonder how Albert will feel after meeting Mai soon. For Shirley, I think she will be happy. Though I might feel a bit lonely since Shirley will dote on Mai more than she will to me.
I asked Mai and she is younger than me. So the order is Albert is the oldest, then Shirley, then me, and then Mai.
And we don’t know if our father had more children or not. What a pain of a father he is.
"Brother!"
"Just call me Roy," I said.
"Roy! Can you tell me about my parents?" Mai asked.
"No. We have the same father but different mother. And I never met my father when he was alive. The one I recognized as a father is not related with me at all. And the story will be too confusing to tell you. If you want, just wait and our eldest brother and sister will tell you about your father. For your mother, we have ways to find her identity. Just be patient," I said.
"I can’t believe that I have a brother! A blood related brother!"
And I can’t believe that my real father actually did sleep around with other women.
"Anyway, how’s the villagers?" I asked.
"Even if they are used to live here, they want to leave if possible. Some even thought to move away already with or without my permission. And using this chance will be better since they won’t feel guilty of leaving the village. They even want to let go of their hatred to the cult as long as they have better quality of life," Mai said.
"We can handle that. If the Kings can’t, I can. As long as they are willing to live anywhere, then maybe they can live in my kingdom," I said.
"Are you really a King?"
"I am. But my people are not human. I’m the King of Monsters. As you can see, I have a centaur and even a Vampire Queen working for me. The Vampire Queen who is sucking on my blood right now," I said.
After testing Mai’s blood, Arin has been sucking on my finger. For some reason, Mai ignored her.
"So they can live with the monsters. I don’t think they have enough courage for that," Mai said.
"Don’t worry. The other Kings will make sure that any villagers here have a better life in their kingdom. Tell the villagers that they don’t have to prepare for dinner tonight. We will have a meeting with everyone and the villagers can decide what they want to do," I said.
Mai left. And I contacted Albert and the others that the snowy village is a safe place where we can build a base.
I haven’t told him about Mai’s identity. I told Arin and Victoria to keep quiet about it. It’s because of Victoria’s suggestion to see Albert’s reaction after finding out that Mai is our sister.
