Chapter 1181: The Truth About The Village

Under the stars in the village surrounded by cliffs, we started explaining who we are. In the end, we are the guests here. So we started talking first.

"My name is Fabio. The King of Arturo. A country in the west side of... the other continent. Not this one," Fabio said.

"The King, huh? But it seems like he has more power than you," the Village Chief said while pointing his finger at me.

’I do have more power than him. Other than the introduction from before, I’m an Aura user and a master level summoner with five familiars and an entire kingdom made of monsters. You can say that I’m the King of the Monsters Kingdom," I said.

"I see. So using your portal as a summoner, you can make the kingdoms in the other continent unite easily," he said.

Seems like he already knew what a portal is and what a summoner can do. He’s not surprised by the fact that I have five familiars.

"By the way, I’m not a good negotiator. So it will be up to Fabio to explain to you," I said.

"Before that, we need to make sure that the cult we both hate is one and the same fist. Let’s exchange what we know about the cult," Fabio said.

Then Fabio and the Village Chief started exchanging information about the cult. Like how they called themselves as the True God Cult and that the lower-ranked members of the cult have explosive devices in their mouth.

"That’s it! I saw some of them suddenly had their head exploded when they got captured in the past. I always wondered what happened. So it’s because of the explosive devices and they exploded their own head. They are truly a disgusting organization," the Village Chief said.

"Yeah. And their goal is the destruction of the world. The reason, we don’t know," Fabio said.

Does it matter the reason why? Destroying the world is a bad thing. Then the cult is bad. That’s the only thing that matter.

"There are also many other things you need to know if you want to join our alliance against the cult. But it’s up to you whether you will join our alliance or not," Fabio said.

The centaur I brought here nodded telling me that the Village Chief told the truth that he’s going to help us. Now it’s time to hear his side of the story.

The Village Chief was one of the court mage of a kingdom in this continent. No wonder he’s an expert level mage. Then the cult peacefully entered the kingdom and spread their influence without anyone being suspicious.

Then one day, not just the King. But almost everyone believed with the cult’s teaching including the Village Chief’s late wife. The teaching includes how Aura user is the greatest enemy of the cult.

The Village Chief couldn’t do anything since he loved his wife. Even though he knew that the cult is bad and tried to take over the Kingdom. It’s all because he didn’t want to lose his wife.

But it’s too late. His wife died. And many people, in the royalty, nobility, and even commoners, have joined the cult. So he and some other people escaped and created a village here. A place where they can defend themselves.

"A place that is easy to defend? Dude, this is magic world. A master level earth mage can easily destroy this village," I said.

"Roy is right. I believe they can destroy this village anytime they want. The most likely reason they didn’t was because they never imagine that this place will be strong enough to fight them. With the resources here, it’s impossible for anyone here to reach master level," Fabio said.

"That’s true. We’re here only for survival and it’s because we don’t want our family and loved one to put their faith to the cult. That’s why we won’t fight them. But if they send someone here, we will try our best to kill them before they can do anything. That’s why we planned for an assassination tonight. Fortunately, we failed and we learned of a force that is trying their best to combat the cult," the Village Chief said.

What fortune? They failed simply because they are weak.

Hmm... Maybe they are fortunate indeed. If it’s not for Candy, I would have simply killed them all.

"Court mage, is it? How much do you know about the map of this continent? At least how it was before you moved here," Fabio asked.

"We have no map. But I know how it was when I was still a court mage. Someone, bring me a pen and a paper," he said.

"No need. Victoria."

I simply ordered Victoria to be his map. I told him how to draw a map and he quickly understands. The other villagers who knew a bit also located some other villages that the Village Chief didn’t know in the past.

"Isn’t it better to discuss it during the day?" Daniel asked.

"If the cult purposely let this village be, then they should already know about this village and can attack anytime. If we do it in the day, then the villagers won’t be doing the things they should be doing and if this place is being watched, they will know that the villagers are doing something suspicious. That’s why we do it in the night," I said.

"True. But with so many torches here, it will still be suspicious," the Village Chief said.

"Don’t worry about it. There is no one else other than us nearby. I also put some werewolves around the cliffs so they will come here whenever they smell someone nearby," I said.

That’s why we can discuss things here with torches as the source of light.

Then the place becomes brighter. And we’re all talking about what this continent has to offer.

"Hmm... Seems like this continent is much bigger than ours," Fabio said.

"There are five big Kingdoms. From what we learned, it seems like all of them have fallen under the control of the cult. Seems like this continent has fallen for the cult almost completely. Maybe there are some people like the villagers here building small villages away from big cities. But we can’t expect much help from them. It’s best if we stay at that island as our base for now," Fabio said.

Building a base in the continent will be difficult. But at least we learned that there might be a little force in small villages where the people don’t agree with the cult. We can get information from them.

"So, what should we do now?" I asked.

"You can continue staying here, right? For those who want to go back to the island, they can. But I need to contact the other Kings about our discovery," Fabio said.

So I stayed here. This time, alone. Candy and Daniel returned back to the island. I’m here responsible for the safety of the villagers.

And just in case there is someone coming here to spy on this village, I can leave right away. Even master level mage’s detection skill is not as good as the werewolves’s sense of smell and my Divine Vision.

Unless they are moving underground. Then we can only rely on my Divine Vision since the werewolves won’t be able to smell them.

The next day, the villagers worked normally. And just in case, I move around to check on the health of the people here.

They’re all healthy so they don’t need much care from me. But because the lack of a doctor here, some people died of illness in the past.

I think it will be a few days until we will roam this continent. Fabio will probably return to Arturo since we have made a connection with the people in this island and won’t stay. So the rest will be up to me and some agents.

We thought that we will end up fighting right away. That’s why we brought everyone from my clan. But thanks to this village, they can return back home.
