Chapter 1087: Three Black Knights

There’s a huge room in front of us. That’s the last room of this dungeon. With only three monsters inside.

"Shelia, what do you think? Do you smell anything?" I asked Shelia.

"Hmm... There are only three enemies inside. And they’re living monsters. Not corpses or skeleton monsters," Shelia said.

"Yeah, that’s exactly what I see as well. Three monsters. And they’re some kind of black knights. Wearing black armor covering their bodies. Except for the biggest one. That one didn’t have the armor covering its entire body," I said.

There are three enemies inside the last room. They seem to be stronger than ordinary monsters. They might even be equal to Shelia and the others.

Two of them are powerful-looking black knights. And the last one is a big knight. And the skin color of their bodies is not like that of humans. They’re blue. And even the skin seems to be as strong as ordinary armor. That’s what I got from seeing them using Divine Vision.

As I observed the three knights, the smallest one suddenly spoke.

"Don’t just look around. Come on in. We can talk first and then fight later," he said.

So fight is inevitable. I guess that’s what a dungeon is. But they have higher intellect than other monsters.

"I heard that there are sometimes powerful monsters inside a dungeon. But they are somehow restricted to stay in the dungeon and unable to leave at all. And once they’re killed, they will be gone forever. Unlike normal dungeon monsters that can reappear again after they were defeated," Victoria said.

I see. I guess we can say that those three are the Dungeon Bosses. Once we defeat them, the dungeon will be cleared. But the dungeon will continue to exist with the monsters inside still be able to appear again.

Then we entered the room. And soon after, we can see the three enemies.

They’re Black Knights. I don’t know the species of the monsters. I just say that because they wore black armors.

The biggest one is slightly bigger than the four meters tall Crabbe. Huge with exposed blue skin on the parts where his armor couldn’t cover. He has a huge mace on his back.

The second biggest is just the size of an average human. But that one has the lower body of a spider. He has eight legs. And they’re covered with armor. That one has a spear.

Then the smallest one is shorter than Shelia, the shortest one among us. If I don’t count Victoria in her original slime form. He has a sword and a shield.

Three knights. And there are six of us. But for now, we will talk before we fight.

"State your names and your intention," the smallest one acted like the leader of the three.

"I’m Roy, the werewolf is Shelia, the angel is Graham, the big one is Crabbe, the horse is Ray, and the slime riding on the horse is Victoria. There’s also a ghost, but she’s upstairs with three other people," I said.

Once we started exploring after the three familiars somehow learned to manipulate Aura, Sonia left us and joins Georgia, Kayla, and Shirley upstairs. So it’s just us six.

"We’re here to get stronger and searching for treasure is an extra bonus I have to say it. This dungeon filled with undead and skeletons. Which suits us since one day, we might face a powerful Death Mage who can revive the dead to be her soldiers," I said truthfully.

There’s no need to lie. That’s all the reason we’re here. This place is just good for training.

"Now, tell me who you are," I asked the three this time.

"We... no longer remember our names anymore. We’re just Black Knights. It’s been so long since we suddenly appear here. Our only duty is to defeat anyone who enters this room," the smallest knight said.

"And this is the first time in so long that someone actually reached this far. We can finally fulfill our duty. And probably even die. But we don’t want to die without doing anything. We want to fight with everything we have instead," the middle-sized one added.

So they are knights who are going to fulfill their duties. That’s all. And their duty is to defeat anyone who enters this room.

"Is there any way that I can stop you from fighting? Maybe you want to get out of here. I might be able to help you with that," I offered.

"That sounds interesting. But we prefer to fight. We want to fight and see how strong we are after only fighting each other for a long time. We’re stuck here and only know how to fight and fulfill our duties," the smallest one said.

I see. No wonder there are many sign of battle in this room. From the ground, the wall, and even the ceiling. But they’re fine and don’t seem to be hurt. I guess they’re really strong. Or they probably have healing magic or something similar.

I was about to ask the others what they want to do. But without even asking them via telepathy, I can tell from their expression that they want to fight. At least Shelia, Graham, and Crabbe. They also want to see how strong they are.

"Alright, I understand. Then we will fight soon. But before that, can I ask you a question? Is normal physical attack and magic attack working on you? Because for the skeletons we encountered previously, they would resurrect unless we attack them with Aura," I asked.

The three knights looked at each other before the smallest one answer me.

"We don’t know what Aura is. But physical attack and magic attack work on us," he said.

"That’s good. Then we will fight. How would you like to fight?" I asked the knights.

It has been so long since they’re here. And they will probably die after this. Since they’re so polite to me, I will at least grant them how they want to fight.

"You’re asking me that even though you’re the intruder? You’re weird," the smallest knight said.

"I am indeed weird. So what do you want?" I asked again.

The three knights looked at each other again. But they just smiled and nodded at each other. I can see their faces under the helmet. And that’s the look of understanding between those three.

"Then we’d like to have a duel. One on one duel. Three matches. Is that alright with you?" the smallest knight asked.

"That’s what these three want as well. The werewolf, angel, and the crab person will fight on our stead. It’s a fight to the death. And no one is allowed to interfere. Is there anything else you want to add?"

A duel to the death. This is also a test for Shelia, Graham, and Crabbe. They will fight on their own without my help. So no Aura this time.

"That will do. Then the first one to fight from us will be..."

"I. Will. Fight. First."

The biggest knight, the giant blue-skinned knight, stepped forward. He will fight first from their side. He spoke very slowly.

And since he will fight first, it’s obvious who will be our first fighter. It’s Crabbe.

"We don’t mind that," the smallest knight said.

Shelia and Graham just nodded. They know that it’s what they want after all. And I don’t think they will lose. But it’s still possible for them to be harmed even if they win.

I will trust my familiars. They have been fighting with me for a long time. And I trust them that they can bring victory.

"Are you ready?"

"I’m ready," Crabbe replied as he raises his arms in a fighting stance and already has his body covered with shell armor.

"Ready."

The Giant Knight also ready with a huge mace on his hand.

A battle between my familiars and the Black Knights. I can see how strong my familiars have become now. Even though they won’t be able to use my Aura in this fight, I can tell from the way they fought today that my familiars have improved in other areas as well. So it will be interesting to watch the duel.
