Chapter 1062: Training with Sara
We continued with the schedule I told Maya to do. I don’t know whether she continued training when I’m not watching or not. But I know her desire to be with Fabio.
When I go to the Monsters World with her, I also bring another girl with me. Including with Sara today.
After she realized that there are more uses in air magic thanks to Maya, she started asking her if she can think of anything else that will be possible in air magic. I also listen while running in the air by kicking footholds I created using air magic.
I have slowly getting used to it. If it’s just running, my foot doesn’t have to stay too long in one position. So I can use it easily.
But still, to make a foothold in one place and to be able to carry my weight is still difficult. Even Sara who is a master level mage can’t do it yet. We’re both still training.
Maybe I can think of something if I use Aura. But not now. I’m thinking of finding more ways with air magic first. I’ll use Aura later.
The three of us discussed about what else air magic can possibly do. Four if I include Victoria. After all, her knowledge about air and gases is much better than ours.
"Victoria sure knows a lot even though she’s just a slime," Maya said as she patted Victoria in her slime form.
Right. I forgot to introduce Maya who Victoria really is.
"I forgot to tell you about Victoria. Well... Victoria, do you want to introduce yourself or do you want me to do it?" I asked Victoria.
"I’ll do it myself!"
Then she transformed into her human form while we’re still running.
Maya and Sara were already riding their horses. But since Victoria is a slime, she doesn’t need to. Though now that she has changed into her human form, she will need a ride. And her ride is obviously Ray. So I summoned Ray on the spot and Victoria jumped to his back.
"I can’t hear you well when we’re talking while moving," Maya said.
"Stupid. Don’t forget that you’re an air mage. Make a barrier that blocks the sounds from the outside so it will let us speak without any other noise. Did you forget your magic? As for looking for your next monster, Roy will inform us when he found something you haven’t seen," Sara scolded Maya seeing how she can’t think of using magic for it.
Maya apologized and then she used her magic. She’s just an intermediate level mage. So the air barrier won’t last long. But it should be enough to last until Victoria finished telling Maya about herself.
"Right. How does Master do that? Is that because he’s an Aura user?" Maya asked again before Victoria could tell her anything.
"You can ask Victoria about anything related to me. She is the one who has been with me the longest. There will be something important that you might hear. But we won’t tell you about it at least right now. We can talk about it when we take a break later. It’s not something we can talk about while on the move," I said.
And it’s finally the time for Victoria to introduce herself. And I can see the various expressions that Maya makes. It’s ridiculously funny.
Along the way, Victoria even tapped on a bag filled with Sonia’s soil and called her. Then Maya was shocked to see a ghost and Sonia started to introduce herself as Victoria’s rival. At least in the past.
Maya has been brought to my place in Cassau a few times. But she never meets Sonia before. It’s just that Sonia was busy helping the others with their quests.
Well, she’s not really busy. She’s just bored so much. So she ended up going along with someone for their quest.
Maya has two girls she’s closest with from my place. One is Jewel. A fellow disciple just like her. And the other is Sophie.
She’s curious about Sophie because even though Sophie managed to get stronger and even reach expert level in her lightning element, she doesn’t like fighting. So Maya asked her what she should do outside of fighting. As a reference for the future after she becomes the Queen.
And they became close because of that. With Maya even learning about first aid. As for being a doctor, she said that she’s not that smart and can’t handle to see too much blood.
Sophie has been helpful to me a lot outside of fighting. She and Lina. Well, Lina is a summoner so she can just let her familiars fight.
Maya actually asked Lina if she could help Fabio in the future as well. But Lina’s job is maid’s job. It will be difficult for Maya to do it since she’s the daughter of a noble family.
She can do it if she wants to. Cooking, baking, gardening, and cleaning. But other people will look at her weirdly. And she’s afraid if people will look down at her for doing that when she’s a Queen in the future.
The commoners won’t care. But the nobles will care too much about that. And Lina doesn’t want to be a burden for Fabio. So she can’t ask Lina for help.
Victoria and Sonia finally finished introducing themselves. It took a long time but Maya still managed to use her Air Barrier enough for the conversation to be over.
"So, Victoria was a human from another world who reincarnated and became an Aura user but died. And Sonia was an Aura user who proclaimed herself to be Victoria’s rival. Am I right?"
"That’s pretty much how it is," Victoria said.
"It hasn’t been long since I became Master’s disciple. I thought that there won’t be anything else that will surprise me. But I was wrong. So, does the thing that can’t be said while we’re on the move is something that will surprise me again?" Maya asked.
Victoria, Sonia, Sara, and even Graham nodded. They all think that this will be the most shocking thing she will hear as my disciple.
"Then I don’t think I’m ready for that today. Tell me about it tomorrow. What I learned today is already too shocking and my brain can’t handle too much information right now," she said.
"Are you tired already? Do you want to go back now and stop the search today?" I asked.
"Let’s do that. Though tomorrow, I don’t think we can search for any monster since I want to hear about what shocking thing you will say."
"Then we will take a break tomorrow. You can return now," I said.
Maya then opened a portal for herself to return back to her house. Then I opened a portal for Graham, Georgia, and Ray to return to the village. Sonia disappeared on her own. So I returned to Cassau with Sara.
Then we started training again to make a foothold that can hold our weight. It’s still difficult for us to do it. But we are progressing at least.
"What will you do with that? Well, being able to run in the air alone is already good for you. But what will you do with this magic we’re learning?" I asked Sara.
"To hold myself from getting pushed back by the recoil. Right now, the air pressure I can make at full power is too strong. When I release it, it will even push me back for ten meters. And the rifle I used was destroyed as well. Thankfully, my body is strong enough to not get injured by it. But no matter what I do, I will still get blown back since I’m not as strong as you. If I can have this and create a wall behind me, then I won’t be pushed back so much anymore. And I can continue shooting after that," Sara said.
"But you have earth magic though."
"Yes. But it takes time to create wall. Outside, it’s fine. But if the battle is inside, manipulating metal is hard for me even if I can do it. It will take time. But if I can use air magic instead, there won’t be any delay," Sara said.
She told me that she’s better in her air magic than her earth magic. I guess that’s right.
"Even if I can’t use it in battle, I can still teach my students this magic. If there’s a smart person among them, they can think of a way to utilize this magic in battle. What about you?" she asked me this time.
"Various things. It might be stronger than normal Air Barrier so I can protect myself better with this. And I won’t have to keep jumping in the air to avoid falling anymore," I said.
Not only do I need it to be able to hold my weight. But I also need it to stay for as long as possible. Making it only to disappear a few moments later is not ideal at all. Only when I can make it stay for a long time will it be useful in battle.
