The little girl looked momentarily confused, but she didn’t object. Instead, she nodded obediently, "Thank you, uncle."
After speaking, she held onto the back of the front seat and jumped down from her spot.
Xiaoze quietly thought, although the little girl couldn’t see, her movements were quite nimble.
Then, a woman dressed as a maid came forward intending to pick her up, but Xiaoze suddenly blocked in front of the little girl.
The maid immediately stopped, her eyes widened, showing a hint of nervousness, "Ada?"
She thought it was the maid who accompanied her.
"It’s me." Xiaoze said, "What’s your name?"
The little girl seemed puzzled for a moment but then smiled, "Are you the brother from beside the creek that day?"
Xiaoze was delighted she remembered him and nodded, "That’s right, it’s me."
"Oh." She hesitated for a moment, "My name is..."
"Alice, you should go back now." Robert suddenly interrupted her, lifting her into the maid’s arms.
Xiaoze watched as the maid carried the little girl away.
Only then did Robert turn around, standing tall as he looked at Xiaoze, "What are you up to, kid?"
Xiaoze suddenly felt a bit guilty but still wore a smile, "Didn’t you hope I would make more friends with people my age? I think she’s great."
"She’s a girl!" Robert emphasized.
"Why can’t girls be friends, too?" Xiaoze accused him righteously, "Uncle Robert, you’re so old-fashioned!"
Robert was momentarily speechless from anger.
"By the way, her name is Alice?" Xiaoze asked.
"That’s none of your business!" Robert picked him up, "So young and already thinking of wooing girls...! You’re something else! Come back with me!"
