Chapter 456: The Heart of a Loving Father

Chapter 456: The Heart of a Loving Father

"You still have the nerve to speak!" Mu Yiliang held his hand as she got out of the car, glaring at him fiercely, "I waited for you for so long and only went out alone because I was really bored!"

The man looked somewhat guilty: "I’m sorry, it’s my fault."

"If you don’t allow me to go out alone, then it’s your fault!" she snorted, "But isn’t that a bit over the top? Can’t I go out on my own? Look, Housekeeper Li arranged quite a few people for me!"

Yan Sijue was taken aback but reluctantly nodded: "Of course you can, but next time, just let me know in advance."

Mu Yiliang thought for a moment: "Did you already know?"

"Know what?" he raised an eyebrow.

"Don’t play dumb! Mu Yixun’s illness and hospitalization, I don’t believe you didn’t know!" Mu Yiliang glared at him.

"Fine, I did know." He didn’t deny it, "I’ve already instructed them to search for **** for Mu Yixun on a larger scale, but there’s no news yet."

"Why didn’t you tell me!"

"I didn’t think it was necessary for you to know." He admitted openly, "Your parents only remembered you at this point. What can you do even if you know? Even if you offer help, they won’t appreciate it. I’m getting involved in this because I want to keep them from bothering you!"

Recalling what Mei Suqin had just said, Mu Yiliang could only admit it, feeling a bit stifled.

"Yiliang, we can’t choose our birth." The man held her in his arms, his voice gentle, "Them not liking us is not our fault, nor does it mean we aren’t good enough."

"Mm..." Mu Yiliang responded softly, "Let’s go. Since we’re here, let’s take a look."

Outside Mu Yixun’s hospital room, Father Mu Zheng stood guard. He probably already got the news from Mei Suqin; seeing Mu Yiliang was no surprise, but when he saw Yan Sijue beside her, his expression changed.

"Yan Sijue?" he exclaimed.

Yan Sijue looked at him expressionlessly, and Mu Zheng seemed a bit panicked, stammering: "Uh, Yiliang, you... you came..."

"How is Yixun?" Mu Yiliang looked at her father, unable to describe how she felt inside.

Mu Zheng was shrewd and adept at scheming, but when Mu Yixun fell ill, he stayed by her bedside, looking haggard, his fatherly love apparent.

Hearing Mu Yiliang’s response, Mu Zheng snapped out of his astonishment at seeing Yan Sijue, and said with a gloomy face: "The doctor says a kidney must be found quickly, otherwise... Yiliang, think of something, Yixun can’t wait any longer!"

Mu Yiliang said nothing and walked into the hospital room, seeing Mu Yixun lying on the bed, her face pale.

The last time she saw her seemed to be when she was scheming against her own self. In Mu Yiliang’s heart, this sister was cold-hearted and vicious, selfish and naive; she never felt a shred of goodwill towards her. Yet now, this 22-year-old girl was lying there with barely any life left; she almost felt a twinge of sympathy.

Noticing the emotion on her face, Yan Sijue wrapped his arm around her to leave, whispering, "That’s enough!"

Outside the hospital room, her father Mu Zheng still looked at her with hopeful eyes, but with Yan Sijue by her side, he didn’t dare make requests, though Mu Yiliang could clearly see the expectation in his eyes.

She steeled her heart, turned away, and said to the man beside her, "Let’s go."
