Chapter 911 - 866: Mission Accomplished (Update 1)

Wen Wan had witnessed the entire internal struggle within the Bei Yan Royal Family; horrified as she was, she still did not forget to look for a chance to withdraw.

The Crown Prince had been playing the pig to eat the tiger, clearly waiting for this very day. That father and son were dead set on killing Li Yuan. If nothing unexpected happened, this hot spring estate would soon be surrounded by the Imperial Guard. She could not stay any longer; she had to go to the front courtyard to find Amuer and escape with the little one.

Yet before she could make a move, a black‑clad figure with excellent martial arts flashed out from the other end of the hot spring. Before Emperor Yan and the Crown Prince could react, a sword pierced Norma’s back. As Norma collapsed limply, the newcomer deftly pulled the long sword from Li Yuan’s chest, wrapped an arm around her, and used Qinggong to whisk her away.

Emperor Yan let out a cold laugh. "So there was backup. That whore has suffered serious injuries; they won’t get far. Crown Prince, take men and immediately seal off the whole city to search. No matter who has come to her rescue, once they’re found, they are people of Chu Country."

The Crown Prince understood at once; his imperial father meant to shift this Royal Family turmoil onto a conflict between the two countries.

"I will respectfully obey Father’s sacred will."

Fu Changming quickly left the hot spring with his own men.

Emperor Yan looked at Norma, who lay on the ground already dead, his old face dark for a moment. He gave a cold snort, flicked his sleeve, and strode off.

The estate was sealed off, and the palace maids who had come along were scared out of their wits.

Seizing the chaos, Wen Wan slipped back to the west wing and found Amuer still eating.

It seemed Emperor Yan and the Crown Prince had all their attention on Li Yuan now and had not noticed this little fellow.

Wen Wan was pondering how to get him out when she heard someone knock on the door.

Her heart clenched. "Who is it?"

"It’s me."

The steady voice made Wen Wan’s taut heart instantly settle. She stood up in delight to open the door and found two people standing outside, both wearing Bei Yan Imperial Guard armor—it was Song Wei and Su Qing in disguise.

Wen Wan froze for a moment. "Why are you two here?"

Song Wei said, "The Imperial Concubine previously wouldn’t allow the Imperial Guard to enter, so I had no way to get you out. Now that it’s already chaos outside, hurry and bring Amuer. We’ll slip out through the side gate while it’s messy."

"So that means you two followed along in the Imperial Concubine’s carriage?" Wen Wan could not hide the shock on her face.

Song Wei nodded, his gaze especially warm. "I couldn’t stop worrying about you, so I came."

Knowing time was tight, Wen Wan did not delay any further. She turned back into the room, wiped the mouth of Amuer, who had just finished eating, and then pulled him out.

Su Qing picked Amuer up into his arms and used a large cloak to cover him. The three of them keenly avoided the Imperial Guard who were searching for the Imperial Concubine and the black‑clad man, and made their way to the side gate, where an inconspicuous carriage was waiting outside.

The three climbed on almost without stopping.

The driver was one of Su Qing’s men.

Amuer had once personally witnessed his homeland being destroyed. Even though he had been very young then and could no longer remember it clearly, the shadow left behind was branded into his bones. So when he heard the chaos around them earlier, he had been terrified, obediently curling up in Su Qing’s arms. Only when he was set down now did he timidly open his eyes. Seeing that Su Qing was still there, he seemed to let out a breath of relief, then asked, "Daddy, where are we going?"

Su Qing had originally wanted to say Huitong Hall, but the moment he thought of Emperor Yan pinning the blame on Chu Country, he knew Huitong Hall would certainly already be surrounded. So he looked to Song Wei and Wen Wan. "Where are we going?"

"To Jiuyin Square," Wen Wan said.

She believed that the black‑clad man who had just appeared was from Jiuyin Square. Since the workshop master had promised to protect the Imperial Concubine’s life, Li Yuan should not be in immediate danger.

She had to go see for herself.

The carriage left the estate and headed straight for Jiuyin Square.

The workshop master had only agreed to help once. Wen Wan had thought that once they reached Jiuyin Square they would have to spend some effort pleading for aid, but unexpectedly no one stopped them. As soon as they arrived, a beautiful Dancing Girl led them up to the sixth floor where the workshop master lived.

The sixth floor was the very top level of Jiuyin Square and housed only the workshop master. Normally, without a summons from the workshop master, no one was allowed up.

On the way upstairs, Song Wei and Su Qing asked the Dancing Girl to find them an empty room so they could remove the heavy armor from their bodies.

When they reached the sixth floor and the Dancing Girl opened the door, Wen Wan was taken aback.

Because inside, besides the workshop master whose face was veiled with a light gauze, there was another person she knew all too well—Fu Zichuan.

Next to the two of them was a small couch, and on the couch lay Li Yuan, her face utterly bloodless.

Fu Zichuan’s left arm also seemed to be injured; blood had soaked through the dark sleeve of his robe. If one didn’t look closely, it was not easy to notice.

The door closed, and the Dancing Girl who had brought them up had already withdrawn. Wen Wan looked at Fu Zichuan, her brows faintly knitting. "What are you doing here?"
