Chapter 303
Chapter 303
In the case of Vincent Flame."Jack, I like you!"
"Thank you! Actually, I liked you too!"
Royal Academy. On the rooftop after school.
The school was lively with the 'Valentinus Festival'. The rooftop was no exception, and a couple was about to be born.
A female student handed over a wrapped gift, and the male student received it with a beaming smile.
"So, that means we're a couple now, right?"
"Of course! Please take care of me!"
"Then let's go home together. I'll walk you to your house!"
The boy and girl, having exchanged their feelings, held hands and left the rooftop.
Watching those blissful two from the side, a boy at the edge of the rooftop clicked his tongue loudly.
"Tch... All of them are so giddy. It's disgusting."
A boy lay on his back in a corner of the rooftop.
Using his bag as a pillow, that boy was Vincent Flame.
The entire academy had been dyed pink by the 'Valentinus Festival'... but that had nothing to do with Vincent.
Some female students had tried to give Vincent presents, but he stubbornly refused them.
He had escaped from the girls who kept following him and made his way to the rooftop.
"...Pathetic."
Pathetic. Truly pathetic.
Girls who confessed their feelings to boys in the heat of the moment, swept up by this kind of event. Boys who got elated or depressed over it. Both were equally pathetic.
(I'm not like the others. There's no way I'm getting caught up in some stupid event like the 'Valentinus Festival'!)
Vincent was essentially a stoic guy.
He wasn't interested in girls... or at least, that's the stance he tried to stick to.
But how true was that, really?
Vincent holing up on the rooftop was more like him taking out his frustration.
He was sulking because he didn't get any sweets from the girl he liked... Reina.
(That un-cute girl is probably giving him a gift right about now...)
"Tch... I don't care. Damn it."
As the unpleasant image came to mind, Vincent cursed and tried to shake it off.
He had noticed that Reina had feelings for some guy.
She wasn't even trying to hide it, and it was strange how the guy hadn't noticed.
Vincent knew his love would never be fulfilled... he understood that well.
"No, no, no! It's not like I'm in love or anything!"
Vincent made an excuse to no one in particular.
"There's no way I'd fall for such an un-cute girl... I don't care who she gives her sweets to. Yeah, that's right... I don't care."
As if trying to convince himself, Vincent kept muttering.
If any girl who had a crush on him saw him looking so suspicious, her feelings would probably vanish. Fortunately or unfortunately, there was no one else on the rooftop.
"Damn it! This is so stupid!"
Shouting, Vincent stood up.
When you're feeling irritated like this, moving your body is the best.
Maybe I'll swing a sword. If only someone would spar with me... but today, the academy was completely dyed in pink.
Even the fellow students aspiring to be knights were too giddy to be his opponent.
"So boring. Seriously, this is the worst event of the year...!"
"Pompokorin."
"Huh?"
But... a training wooden sword rolled to Vincent's feet as he made a twisted face.
When he looked up suspiciously, he saw a familiar plushie.
"You...!"
"Pompokorin!"
It was Reina's guard... a plushie containing a Holy Spirit.
The raccoon-shaped plushie waved its front paws as if to say "Bring it on," beckoning Vincent.
"Ha... Not bad. Let's do this!"
Vincent picked up the wooden sword, a combative grin forming on his lips.
Reina hadn't smiled at him, but it seemed there was an angel who would smile at Vincent.
Vincent's heart raced, and his soul burned.
"Alright then, here I come... Oraaa!"
"Pompokorin!"
The rooftop became their battlefield as the two clashed.
Completely unrelated to the pink atmosphere that had taken over the academy. Though it was just one boy and one creature sharing a gray-colored moment, they looked surprisingly happy.
They kept sparring in a mock battle until the sun set in the western sky.
