Chapter 1325 - 388: Pollution from Chaos_4
The whispers spread across the long table, gradually coalescing into hesitant yet clear declarations.
"What Professor Arist said is… we really should be more cautious."
"I agree."
Everyone nodded in assent, and the radical flame within them was significantly doused by this timely cold water.
None of them knew why this reclusive professor had suddenly appeared at this level of symposium, but he was certainly right; the Great Sage's resolution was still fresh in their minds.
They really should be more cautious.
Everyone was waiting for Professor Arist to leave.
However, to everyone's surprise, this uninvited gentleman did not turn away after stating mere pleasantries as he usually did.
Uncharacteristically, he found an empty seat beside the long table, naturally smiling as he joined this academic discussion that did not match his stature.
"Pardon my intrusion," he said to the professor from the Radical Faction, "regarding the universality of 'Spiritual Resonance' you mentioned, I have some immature thoughts that I might discuss with you…"
The professor was slightly stunned, then displayed an expression of flattered astonishment, standing awkwardly like a student before Professor Arist.
If it were Professor Hector here, it probably wouldn't be much better.
Though they were divines in the eyes of apprentices, before "the prized pupil of the Great Sage," they fell short by more than a little.
Not just in strength.
But also in academic prestige.
In this humble atmosphere, Arist began to speak, giving "guidance" to these scholars whose academic status was far below his.
His insights were sharp and his logic unbreakable, yet every person present felt an inexplicable sense of restraint and pressure.
What was once a fervent and free discussion instantly became a rigid report meeting, even the most thoughtful masters chose to remain silent.
Only stones can spark against stones, stones against eggs will only spill yolk. When it's pointless to speak, they chose to say nothing.
When this bizarre symposium finally concluded, all the masters and professors felt as if they were granted amnesty, almost scrambling to leave the scene.
As if the class had ended.
Watching the empty room and those scholars fleeing like forest rats, Arist's expression gradually cooled.
He knew those people feared him and was quite pleased with their humility, but he felt a tinge of dissatisfaction with their "submissive resistance."
This is the greatest difference between the clever ones in the Academic State and those in the Imperial domain; they would say "Yes, Professor," whether they agree or not.
Then some would truly obey and deliberately mess things up, while others would secretly do the opposite and feign ignorance when caught.
Relying on this bunch of rats to understand the Void Realm is a joke!
Arist turned to the floor mirror in the corner, where ominous gray mist still coiled beside his reflection like an inherent shadow.
"What a waste of time, why am I sharing my knowledge with a bunch who don't even know where the door is, my subordinates are a hundred times more useful than these things."
He waved his finger, guiding the teapot to pour him a cup of tea, the sound of tea filling the cup barely covering the impatience in his voice.
His "Divine" let out a soft laugh, gently consoling him: "Calm down, this is all just an act. Perhaps you might learn a thing or two from your rival, who is patiently starting from the smallest things… have you ever seen him complain? Even with the humblest Adventurer, he finds patience to make friends."
Arist sneered at this.
"Why should I do such tedious things like him?"
The voice in the shadows patiently replied, "Of course, to accumulate 'Influence.'"
Without waiting for Arist to respond, it continued.
"You should have realized by now, whether Source Power or any other Extraordinary Power, their essence is actually a force named 'belief.' Naturally, in the Aus Empire's domain, it's inconvenient to discuss this sensitive topic openly, so you sly ones feign ignorance and disguise it, inventing hundreds of forms of strength to indirectly study this subject, like Source Power... Am I right?"
Arist's eyes narrowed slightly, a sharp glint flashing in his deep eyes, then suddenly, a playful grin formed at the corners of his mouth.
"Haha, caught me, should I give you an award?"
His Divine whispered warmly.
"No award needed, it's not difficult, after all, I am you. Moreover... the presence that brought me to you was once young, just like you."
Young.
Haha.
Arist chuckled lightly, indifferent in his heart.
Guess that's been made clear?
But it didn't matter, from the first sight of it, he already had some suspicions. After researching the Void Realm for over twenty years, wouldn't he know what kind of ghostly thing lay behind this being?
It was purely mutual exploitation.
At least, the benefits it offered were considerable, even more so than what the Great Sage offered him.
To gain that power, closer to the core of the Transcendent, without relying on the Void Realm… it made him feel his long-stalled bottleneck was just within reach.
