Chapter 1264 - 374: Talents Gather in the Academic State
Chapter 1264 - 374: Talents Gather in the Academic State
The storm stirred by the 440th Void Realm continues to ferment.
Not only were the professors holding the resources and authority of the Void Realm shocked by Colin's "Void Realm Interference Theory," but also the masters and assistants who had no opportunity to delve into the mysteries of the Void Realm were all astonished by the groundbreaking theory.
Thus, the ripple effects of the storm transmit downward from the top of the Tower of Great Sage, quickly sweeping across the entire Academic State!
The commotion it caused was hardly lesser than the "reaction of the Solipsi people upon hearing the whispers of the Ancient Gods."
If previously, Prince Colin was merely a controversial and gossip-laden "celebrity," then at this moment, he unmistakably added the title of "Scholar" and even "Pioneer."
And this title was not self-proclaimed but was actively bestowed upon him by the mages of the Academic State!
Aside from those insignificant empty titles, another impact is that the mages of the Tower of Great Sage finally began to take his theories seriously.
And the word "Science," which once left countless people feeling unfamiliar and even perplexed, transformed overnight into the hottest topic in the Academic State...
At the entrance of the "Magic Science" laboratory, the not-so-spacious corridor was almost bursting by apprentices who came due to its reputation.
"...Please, Mr. Jamie! Just accept one more! I've rewritten my application three times! Please, at least show it to Prince Colin!" A senior apprentice nearly pleaded as he handed his application to the overwhelmed Jamie.
Before the bewildered young man could take it, a strong mage squeezed in, eagerly saying.
"Look at mine too! See my resume; Master Colin's arguments on 'Mechanics' coincide with my previous research on Strength-Enhancing Magic Array! I swear, I could surely become his most reliable assistant!"
Jamie opened his mouth wide but was speechless.
He couldn't comprehend what this "coincidence" was exactly about; surely it can't be a coincidence just because the names are similar?
These are entirely two different things, right?!
On the other side, Lam was surrounded by several female apprentices, resumes filled with formulas and mechanical blueprints were handed to her like snowflakes, overwhelming her.
"Senior Lam, check mine! My family has been alchemists for three generations, and I've been interested in the decomposition and combination of substances since childhood! Master Colin's theory of 'Chemistry' is practically tailored for me; I'm sure I can satisfy him!"
"I—I'm not a senior, just a preparatory student, only been here for a bit over two months..." Lam's cheeks flushed like apples; her shy nature made her ill-suited for handling such scenes.
The girl who seemed to be a senior widened her eyes, retracting her resume while suspiciously scrutinizing Lam up and down.
"Then how did you get in?"
Lam stammered unable to speak, the overbearing gaze was too intense, making the naturally timid Lam shrink even further.
"Everyone, please return for now!" Jamie stepped forth at this moment, shouting with all his might towards the crowd, "The laboratory has no plans to recruit new apprentices temporarily! Master Colin doesn't have time to look at resumes... if there's any expansion plan, His Highness will announce it!"
He paused for a beat before shouting again.
"If you truly wish to join His Highness's lab, why not experience his classes first and see if you can accept his teachings... Moreover, we were actually recruited from Prince Colin's class; I highly recommend you do the same!"
Given his understanding of Prince Colin, the prince seems to prefer discovering talent personally rather than waiting for resumes to be delivered.
Upon hearing this, some apprentices at the laboratory entrance finally began to disperse.
Though it wouldn't be long before a new batch would gather again, repeating the scene that just played out.
These fervent mages not only come from the Source Magic School; some are apprentices from other Mage Towers in the Northern Wilderness who came from afar.
Not everyone traveled long distances just out of yearning for "Science," many came merely because Prince Colin holds a promising Void Realm resource, hoping to squeeze into the lab and earn some credentials, maybe even get a co-authored name on a paper.
Watching the disappointed figures depart, Lam couldn't help but whisper to Jamie beside her, "I feel like this is even busier than the registration for the 'Wise Man's Trial' every year."
Jamie nodded in deep agreement, his face full of sentiment.
"Indeed..."
The Wise Man's Trial registration occurs shortly after apprentice recruitment, mainly aimed at graduates leaving the various Mage Towers.
Although newly arrived to the Academic State, they are ineligible to participate, yet caught sight of the spectacular crowd from afar.
It truly feels like thousands of troops crossing a single-log bridge...
...
The fervor at the "Magic Science" laboratory was only the beginning, quickly spreading to the "Science" class of Prince Colin.
The classrooms, once slightly deserted due to "Master Colin's generosity with credits," were filled once more with bustling crowds, now so exaggerated that seats were hard to come by.
The spacious classroom was nearly overcrowded to the point of having no room left.
Each class saw hundreds of students arriving an hour early to secure a seat up front. As all the hallway spots were soon occupied, the classroom window sills were also overtaken by eager students, almost to the extent of standing outside the windows.
