The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 1209 - 359: The End of the Despicable One (Part 4)

Chapter 1209 - 359: The End of the Despicable One (Part 4)

"Master, Master! Absolutely not! Your divine power is peerless, but that Mage is a cunning rat. The pressing threat of the army might scare him away. To deal with such a Bronze Level Mage, there is no need for you to personally mobilize troops; I have my own ways."

"Sir, I also suggest this... Since Kabin has a way, why not let him try? I believe he won't make you lose face." The Steward also persuaded, not just because he had accepted money, mainly because he was worried his master might lose face on the battlefield.

Richter thought this made sense too, so he patted the shoulder of that soldier and delegated this "Holy Mission" to his subordinate.

If this young soldier truly has such ability, he is indeed worth nurturing.

After Kabin received the order, he dared not delay and rode a fast horse towards the Traveler Camp, not daring to bring anyone along.

That night, in a Nun's tent, special calming incense gently rose.

Minos was indulged in the tender embrace of confession, completely letting go of all defenses, and lay comfortably on warm thighs enjoying the peace of Sage time.

The Nun was already an old acquaintance of his.

Although he didn't reveal all his experiences to her, he trusted her somewhat.

At least he wasn't worried she would steal his money.

"Lily, sometimes... I really don't understand. If I had to choose again, I certainly wouldn't become a Mage. I've decided, once I return this time, I will redeem my parents and then start anew on the New Continent..."

"You're tired, my poor child, don't think about so many troublesome things," the Nun gently persuaded, while massaging his temples, "Just lie down, leave everything to me..."

Smelling the calming incense, Minos felt his eyelids grow heavier, and in a comfortable daze, he unknowingly fell asleep.

When he awoke again, to his horror he found himself tightly bound, gagged with a cloth, and two men with dark masks were grinning at him...

...

Time passed, perhaps long enough for the honorable Prince to have forgotten this incident.

The muddled Minos awoke in a sharp cold wind; a moment ago, he was in his mother's arms.

First, he smelled the earthy and rotten grass scent in the air, then felt the wet cold of rotting wood beneath his knees, and the chilling metallic coolness behind his neck.

He snapped open his eyes and found himself kneeling on a strange gallows, surrounded by unfamiliar crowds.

Not only did he see himself, but kneeling beside him was the ashen-faced Steward, whom he vaguely remembered was called Yankov; they had made a deal at the Adventurer's House tavern.

And around the execution ground, the cold wind blew the flags fiercely, flying not only the emblem of the Richter family but also the black-bottomed white wolf flag of the Northern Duke!

Minos felt a wave of despair wash over him, sinking his heart instantly to the depths.

A judge from Dragon Watch City sat on the judgment seat, surrounded by Knights, coldly declaring their crimes:

"Marko Gage, Minos, thieves of the Imperial Prince's belongings, your crimes are punishable by death, unforgivable!"

Upon hearing the judgment, Yankov, kneeling beside him, closed his eyes, two lines of tears streaming down his aged face.

"I, Marko Gage... admit all accusations, only hoping Saint Sis will forgive the sins I've committed in this lifetime upon my death."

Before leaving, he bid farewell to his wife and children, telling them he was going somewhere far to hide because their father offended someone he shouldn't.

But he was still fortunate, at least the Gage family would treat his family well.

Lord Dorian wasn't a kind man, yet he never broke his promise on this matter, which was why his servants willingly embraced death.

As for his age... it wasn't a problem, after all, those taking the exam at Academic State weren't only young people; it only required an explanation there.

The judge waved his hand expressionlessly.

The executioner raised the knife, and a mottled gray head rolled to the ground.

Hot blood splashed onto Minos's face, witnessing the scene, he was scared pantless.

The instinct to survive overwhelmed everything, he frantically struggled, his eyes filled with bloodshot veins, emitting muffled wails through gagged cloth, screaming he was merely a small pawn, there was a mastermind behind, he wanted to see the Lord, he wanted to see the Prince! He wanted to reveal everything he knew!

Unfortunately—

Everything was too late.

If he had shouted earlier, allowing the Prince to hear, maybe he'd still be alive.

Or perhaps simply never said a word, disappearing into the crowd with debts unsettled, living like a rat the rest of his life.

The judge from Dragon Watch City wholly ignored his cries, as if blind to the ant's death struggle, once more coldly waved his hand.

Justice arrived with unprecedented swiftness—

Another scalding head fell to the ground.

Following the servant's father, this time it was a Peasant's son.

The observing citizens erupted in loud cheers after a brief silence, though they didn't know the Prince's name, the Lord had invited them to watch a good show.

Rumor had it that a Mage was among those executed this time!

How thrilling!

...

After the execution, the crowd gradually dispersed, leaving only a few guards to clean the blood at the execution site.

The judge from Dragon Watch City emotionlessly withdrew the temporary court, and as everything drew to a close, he shook hands with a magic apprentice who'd been waiting in the corner.

"Thank you for your fair judgment, sir," the apprentice politely said, "With this, our wandering, delinquent Prince can finally have an 'account'."

Professor Hector returned to Academic State and unleashed his fury. When you've made a thorough investigation call, it wouldn't do to have no result at all.

Now, this case could finally be concluded.

"You're welcome, serving you is my honor," the judge courteously responded, "Also, Duke Blackwood asked me to extend greetings to your Master; his youngest son loved the Mage's gift... the little fellow needs a storage ring to store the toys he keeps losing."

The apprentice chuckled.

"I'll pass it on to my Master."

The relationship between the Rhode Kingdom and Academic State isn't good, but that doesn't mean Duke Blackwood can't befriend Academic State's Mages.

Academic State's Mages often complain about the Empire's overly broad control, yet does that stop Professor Hector from boldly raging on behalf of the Empire's Prince?

Both exchanged knowing smiles and then each left.

The magic apprentice was none other than Minos's dear "senior".

He watched the cleaned bloodstains, offering a silent requiem for his foolish junior in his heart.

"Poor child," a smile on his face, yet inwardly sneering, "The benevolent Master deliberately let you escape, why not disappear with those three hundred gold coins into the crowd? Why stay in these parts, do you expect to return?"

That kid was fairly smart, efficient in tasks, or else he wouldn't have been chosen for the job. However, smart people sometimes weren't quite clear, living in dreams of being a Sage.

Now it's done, three hundred gold coins are gone, he's burdened with a crime worth a million gold coins, even moved his head elsewhere.

He gently shook his head, only feeling sorry for the kid's parents, then he pulled on the hood of his cloak, turned, and disappeared into the crowd.
