Chapter 88: Expulsion
Chapter 88: Expulsion
The little ghost sat on the stump, looking at the two gold coins in her hand with immense joy. This was the first money she had ever earned. With this, she should be able to buy food. Finally, she wouldn't have to eat those earthworms and wood shavings anymore.
"Hmm, I just don't know who would sell to me."
The little ghost was exceptionally strong. If she wanted to find work, she still could. But the problem with herself was that even if she covered her face, the sense of revulsion she caused wouldn't go away.
There were often people who couldn't stand the sight of the little ghost and would assault her. Yet, no one would ever guess how beautiful the little ghost's original appearance was, although the word 'beautiful' was quite common in this world.
It was always 'the most beautiful in the world' or 'the most beautiful in the entire kingdom'.
The little ghost had obtained income. According to the agreement with that queen regarding her firstborn, everything about her belonged to the gnome. So, after the little ghost got the two gold coins, the gnome naturally came over to reclaim them.
"Little ghost, oh little ghost, let's make a deal. As long as you give me the two gold coins, I can restore your ordinary appearance."
The gnome got straight to the point as soon as he appeared. Whether this reason was true or false, the little ghost felt a stir. Wasn't all her misery caused by her own appearance? From the moment she was born until now.
"Ordinary appearance? Is that really possible? If I change back, that knight would be happy to see me, right?"
"Yes, yes. As long as you give me the money you earned and then help chop these trees into firewood, as a trade, I will give you an ordinary appearance."The gnome said this without any burden on his conscience. What's the harm in teasing her? After all, the ghost was entirely his private property, his possession. Naturally, he could play with her however he wanted.
"Two gold coins isn't enough. Some ordinary people can't save up even one gold coin in half a year. How come it's so cheap in your hands?"
Beihai strolled out from the depths of the forest. Following the little ghost had indeed been the right move;
he had lured out the key character in one go.
"Oh dear, by the way, I heard you can also prophesy. Why don't you do a divination for yourself? When will you die?
Actually, that doesn't sound right either. If you could really tell your own fortune, you wouldn't have appeared before me today."
Beihai was still somewhat wary of a gnome who knew magic.
The little ghost was now caught between the two, unsure what to do. Should she hide behind the gnome or behind that knight?
After a mere 0.01 seconds of thought, the little ghost hid behind the knight. This wasn't just innate favorability;
more simply put, a being like the little ghost was easiest to win over.
If it was love at first sight for the prince and princess, then for the little ghost, you only needed a piece of bread to abduct her without any burden.
That sounds a bit exaggerated, and putting it into practice isn't easy either, given the little ghost's appearance and the innate revulsion buff she carried. Who would care for her?
The gnome reacted at this point, but he wasn't flustered at all. A mere physical warrior, a guy with nothing but muscles in his head. If Beihai knew magic, he'd be a bit more apprehensive.
What a pity. The other party was just a muscle-bound brute. Physical attacks couldn't harm him. In summary, the advantage was his!
"Haha, I have no relationship with you, do I? And she is mine to begin with. Who are you helping? Helping that ghost? But she is originally my property. How I dispose of her is none of your business."
Beihai was also a bit troubled. Seeing injustice and speaking out was the right thing to do. The deal between the gnome and the other party seemed fine. The queen wanted beauty, and the other party demanded everything about her daughter. How it was handled wasn't something a third party could interfere with.
But screw all that, it's none of my business!
"So what? I just don't like you, what are you gonna do? Now I give you two choices. I buy the little ghost from you with gold coins, then chop you to death. Or, I chop you to death right now."
"What's the difference between the two?"
The gnome really didn't understand why some words could be arranged like that.
"Of course there's a difference. If you choose the first one, you get to live a little longer."
Beihai drew his ordinary sword and, taking advantage of the gnome's unpreparedness, stabbed it into the gnome's heart and gave it a couple of twists.
The gnome didn't move. Ordinary weapons couldn't harm him at all. "A mere human dares to oppose me, who possesses magic? Do you think I haven't heard of your deeds? Although you've slain dragons, fought demons, dealt with witches...
To sum it up, you are no match for me!"
The gnome immediately cast a spell. He wasn't planning to choose a direct assault, nor did he intend to cast a curse. Those were meaningless.
In close combat, he was no match for a dragon. In terms of magic curses, he was no match for a demon. After much thought, only banishment remained. He just needed to throw this knight to the other side of the continent.
Even if he tried to rush back, without several decades, he simply couldn't return. Plus, the other party was meddling in others' business. By the time he came back, the gnome would have long finished his tasks and slipped away!
Beihai felt his vision blur and inexplicably found himself on a deserted island.
A gentle sea breeze blew, waves rolled, a crab crawled past Beihai's feet, there were sponges and starfish, and a hamster was chasing something behind him.
Wait, why are there sponges?
"No, that's not the point. What the hell am I doing here?"
Beihai stuck his sword into the ground, hopped in place a couple of times, and finally chose to take out Aladdin's Lamp from his backpack and rub it a few times with his hand.
"Come out, Aladdin's Lamp! Tell me the gnome's location!"
"As you wish. Damn it, I'm finally not useless. But before that, let me grab a seashell for a new home first."
"Get lost. Time is tight, the mission is urgent. Just tell me the direction now. I'll do a standing long jump over there."
