The Knight from the Fairytales

Chapter 76: The plot doesn't unfold this way.

Chapter 76: The plot doesn't unfold this way.

Aladdin's Lamp grabbed the Little Fairy's hat in one swift motion. A miraculous scene unfolded—the hat didn't fall from the Little Fairy's head. Instead, it was pulled up along with it.

"You, this guy, if you don't understand anything, don't spout nonsense. We're the ones who are going to save the world."

Aladdin's Lamp was quite anxious. He couldn't afford not to be;

he absolutely had to demonstrate some value. Now that he finally had an opportunity—and as everyone knows, opportunities must be seized by people themselves—a Sprite had to jump out halfway through.

If you were delivering equipment, giving blessings, or adding a couple of warnings like "be careful," Aladdin's Lamp wouldn't have minded. But you come out and immediately say not to use the Magic Carpet? That just makes me look completely useless!

Due to his short stature, the Little Fairy could only put up a feeble resistance when grabbed by Aladdin's Lamp.

"No, it's not like that. You can't just fly over like that. Sir Knight, I beg of you."

Beihai, standing to the side, naturally spotted the oddity. The Little Fairy's appearance was abrupt in itself. There was clearly a shortcut to take, yet the Little Fairy insisted we couldn't take it. That makes no sense!

"Alright, Aladdin's Lamp, stop giving him a hard time. We're almost at that place anyway."

Beihai smiled and mediated, feeling deep down that things weren't that simple.

Hearing Beihai's words, Aladdin felt a bit sulky. He tossed the Little Fairy high into the air, then kicked him flying away. Walking to the side, he rolled up the Magic Carpet and put it away.Beihai had no choice either. He could only pat Aladdin's shoulder to comfort him before setting off again.

Aladdin's Lamp wasn't entirely useless. At the very least, when it came to cleaning up the mess on the ground, he just needed to snap his fingers and everything could be taken care of.

They hadn't gone far when, halfway along the road, an unexpected obstacle suddenly appeared.

It was a rather burly giant. From a human perspective, even Beihai would only reach the other's thigh. Such a giant standing right in the middle of the road was indeed quite intimidating.

"If you wish to challenge the cruel Prince, you must first get past me."

The moment the other party spoke, he revealed his allegiance, startling Beihai. Beihai couldn't help but marvel inwardly—the speed at which this news traveled was a bit fast, huh.

"Wait, I never explicitly stated I was going to challenge the cruel Prince."

Beihai felt something was off again. He did have such thoughts, but he had never told anyone. He learned about the cruel Prince from the pervasive fear in some kingdoms and the rumors that spread afterward.

To be precise, this matter was a fact. Naturally, its spread couldn't be slow, so everyone knew. Knowing is one thing;

going to challenge him is another.

"Stop pretending! You are a kind-hearted Knight. Hearing such news, how could you possibly not act? The moment you received the news, your movements revealed everything.

If you want to pass, you can only defeat me. This is the only road that leads to the Prince's residence."

From the giant's explanation, Beihai could interpret it as:

Everyone on our side is watching you. The moment you showed signs of moving, we immediately went to the Prince's side to apply for a job. Applied yesterday, started working today.

The giant looked rather smug, feeling he had uncovered the truth. For a moment, he chuckled foolishly to himself, thinking that all he needed to do later was swing his club down, and this Knight would be sleeping peacefully on the ground.

After the other woke up, if he continued to challenge and get knocked down a few times, realizing the challenge was hopeless, he would surely think of another method. Then, the giant would just need to state some demands.

For example, the giant wanted a nice set of clothes, or a pair of shoes, or a full meal. Once the Knight fulfilled the giant's demands,

the giant could join the Knight's party.

Beihai expressed admiration but felt things weren't simple. He quickly retreated, which made the giant even more pleased with himself.

Once Beihai was out of the giant's line of sight, he pulled up a few trees from the side and circled around to the giant's back. Roads are made by people walking. If there's no road, then just make one yourself.

"Quick, quick, let's go. I don't want to be entangled by him."

Elsa sat on the horse's back, gripping its mane. Beihai led the horse from below, hurriedly and quietly sneaking away, avoiding any commotion.

Aladdin's Lamp, positioned behind the giant, watched the other's intense focus and was quite impressed by his professional dedication. If he had been even slightly lax, he would have noticed something was wrong.

"This Prince's method of selecting people is a bit lacking."

After bypassing the giant, they continued forward, only to unexpectedly encounter a lake.

A woman floated on the surface of that lake. She stood quietly upon the water. The moment she saw Beihai, she couldn't help but offer praise.

"To think you used your wits to evade the giant's interception. But if the giant realizes what happened, he will grow furious and eventually catch up."

"It doesn't matter. By the time he reacts, everything will be over."

Beihai also grew serious. This person before him could stand on water—clearly not someone to be trifled with.

So, he pulled the horse to turn left, preparing to detour.

"Hey, wait. Aren't you curious? Aren't you curious why I can stand on the water?"

"Not curious."

Seeing Beihai about to leave again, the woman grew genuinely anxious.

"That cruel Prince possesses a type of blazing flame that is extremely dangerous. If you want to counter it, I think nothing is more suitable than water."

Compared to the giant's foolish simplicity, this woman in the water was direct. The giant's purpose was to stop the Prince's army, while the lake beneath her was meant to counter the Prince's flame.

She believed the Knight should understand the pros and cons. Beihai naturally had his own speculations. Was this woman and the lake here to deliver a sword?

It wasn't impossible. So, Beihai walked back and threw his own sword into the water. There was a reason for doing this, of course. A Knight's sword can only be replaced if it breaks or is lost.

Maybe this was a River God who would offer a gold and a silver sword. Hmm. After tossing the item into the river, he looked at the woman.

The woman also looked at Beihai. After the two stared at each other for a long while without moving, seeing that one of his swords was now gone,

Beihai took the horse's reins and left. No matter how the other called after him, he paid no attention.
