Chapter 65: The Culture of Forgiveness
Chapter 65: The Culture of Forgiveness
Those soldiers scrambled to their feet from the ground, brandishing the weapons in their hands, warily facing the enemy before them.
Not only did they point weapons, they also stepped forward methodically, intending to restrain the opponent if they did not resist, and to strike deadly blows if the opponent did resist.
Beihai watched the soldiers approach and only warned, "Stop. Do not force me. Do not continue aiding evil."
Beihai's expression turned pained and sorrowful, clearly unwilling to harm people casually. That compassionate, mournful look left the soldiers dumbfounded.
Was this a perversion of the natural order? So many of us, and you still won't fall?
"What are you waiting for? Kill him now!"
The Queen in the rear kept nagging without relent. Finally she had no choice but to lift the spear in her hand and charge, and then she lost consciousness. As she blacked out,
it seemed to her mind that she could see the ground;
her whole body lost its balance, spun once, and then fell to the ground unconscious.
What had just happened? No one present knew.
The move was too quick, and someone had been blocking the view up front.So from the soldiers' perspective, it looked like the person charged forward normally, then inexplicably did a backflip and finally collapsed.
"Do not force me. I know this is not your true will. Leave quickly."
Beihai did not expect his strength to be so great. Killing people was impossible for him.
He crouched, grabbed the opponent's ankle, exerted a little force, and with a lift the person flew up.
In this strange scene, the soldiers still did not retreat. Beihai, tearing up, handled them all one by one.
"You are so blindly loyal. Why press me like this?"
He rushed forward a step or two, grabbed one soldier's spear, lifted both spear and person, and threw them backward. It was like tossing away a rag doll;
one by one they flew.
He only needed to grab their clothes or armor and toss them skyward. This neither hurt them nor failed to make them lie down obediently. Those not knocked out closed their eyes.
The Queen's face went deathly pale. Actually that wasn't quite right — her foundation makeup was too thick and entirely white.
So when Beihai approached the Queen, he was somewhat surprised. "I didn't expect you to be utterly fearless. You have such nerve, I'll give you some credit."
The Queen's legs trembled. Her will urged her body to flee, but her limbs wouldn't obey;
she could not move.
To the Queen, this fellow was an unreasonable demon, a brute—and such people are the hardest to deal with.
If you speak manners, he answers with fists. If you offer money, he goes by mood. When his temper flares he speaks absolute truths, then kills you in confusion and claims the money too!
Worst of all, she could not even drop unconscious to the ground. She could only stand there, panic flashing in her eyes.
"Hoho, you choose not to run and instead face me?"
Her mind had lost its will, yet her body still stood before Beihai. Yes! Her spirit was gone, but her flesh remained.
What kind of state was this?
"Wait, her pupils are dilating oddly. Could she have been scared to death?"
Seeing the Queen's pupils collapse and her body pitching backward, Beihai hurriedly pinched her chin.
After pinching he moved his thumb to the philtrum and pressed once. The trick worked;
the Queen regained consciousness, crying out in pain.
"It hurts!"
Pain and fear twisted her features into a grimace;
as a villain by nature, once she contorted her face she looked frightful.
Veins bulged on her forehead, her eyes bulged, and she cried out in pain, her mouth large with anguished sound.
Beihai released his grip and the Queen fell to the ground, groaning in pain.
Beihai hadn't expected the Queen to be such a coward. After all, she was a major antagonist—she should at least have some backup moves or secret cards.
Instead, it felt oddly simple: she barged in, effortlessly flipped the guards, and directly seized the source of trouble.
Logically, before Beihai acted, the Queen should have had some trump card to use against him, or she should have fled while he was busy dealing with the guards.
Now Beihai glanced at the white foundation in his hand. It was indeed very thick;
a light rub left powder falling to the ground.
Beihai's mouth twitched. He wiped a soldier's face clean, stood, and came up to the Queen again, grabbing her collar.
Before she could recover, the Queen was lifted once more. Seeing that same demon, she nearly fainted on the spot and began to plead uncontrollably.
"Stop wailing. Stop it. I won't kill women or children. Find the lost soul, tell me why you wanted to kill Snow White."
Hearing this, the Queen's frantic breathing slowed and her fear eased.
Beihai's reasoning had its method. After all, the culture of forgiveness had to be sampled;
if handled well, the rewards would only grow.
He was about to unleash verbal persuasion.
If Obito could be forgiven during the Nine-Tails' rampage for holding onto Naruto, then what could not be forgiven about a poisonous queen?
As for how Snow White would feel—well, if the Queen improved, Snow White's smile would stretch to the sky.
Snow White would surely understand and forgive. Although the Queen had harmed her, nothing had succeeded in the end, right?
Beihai watched the Queen, who sat on the ground with some effort.
"I wanted to kill Snow White because she is the most beautiful woman in the world. The most beautiful woman in the world should be me."
Hearing this, Beihai looked left and right. The white powder on her face could be used to paint a wall.
Uh, do you have a misconception about beauty? Or is that Magic Mirror blind?
"Ahem. Do you know why Snow White is the most beautiful? You only saw the surface.
Snow White's beauty is of the heart. It is the beauty of kindness.
Before you met the Magic Mirror, before you became Queen, you were the most beautiful. When you asked the Magic Mirror then, it answered that you were the most beautiful, but you ultimately reversed cause and effect."
If you're not inherently evil, who hasn't done good deeds before?
So this spiel was quite useful: discard outward beauty and exchange it for inner beauty. As long as you are kind at heart, you are beautiful.
Then demean the Magic Mirror—what use is asking a mirror every day? You should ask the people of the world. After doing good for others, ask and they will give you face, since you helped them.
