Chapter 56: The Tyrant of the Sea
Chapter 56: The Tyrant of the Sea
After walking out of the gloomy and terrifying castle, they stepped out and appeared in a forest in the next moment.
Elsa forced herself to stay awake, grabbing Beihai's hand. This was to prevent herself from getting lost and to avoid suddenly falling asleep. Elsa's yawns were completely unstoppable.
In that dilapidated castle, the birds' cries sounding like children's sobs was one thing, but she couldn't eat or sleep well every day, and there wasn't even a single cute little animal.
Scáthach and Beihai were both very busy—one busy decompressing, the other busy running away. They each had their own style of being busy.
When Elsa was bored, she could only flip through books, trying to find things to do for herself. Yet, she felt that no matter where she went, she could never escape the shadow of these two people. Was it ultimately because the castle was too small, or were these two just too good at running around?
Beihai excitedly pulled Elsa by the hand to the seaside. He opened the magic potion in his hand and was just about to drink it,
when he saw Elsa squinting her eyes there, forcing herself to stay awake. The dark circles under her eyes were impossible to ignore; her fair little face looked like a panda's.
"Elsa, do you want to rest for a while?"
"No need, sir. If you need me, no, I can still hold on."
Elsa tried hard to widen her eyes, not wanting to be a burden, not wanting to disappoint Beihai."At such a young age, don't be so stubborn with your words. I really don't know who you learned that from."
Seeing Elsa in this state of exhaustion, Beihai thought that even if they went into the sea, she wouldn't be able to enjoy it properly if she was so listless.
Thinking of this, Beihai crouched down and picked Elsa up. Now that her body was well-nourished, she felt even softer, and holding her gave him a feeling of being reluctant to let go.
She was especially bouncy and elastic. Beihai used his left hand to pinch her cheek, like kneading a glutinous rice ball, applying gentle pressure to form a round shape.
But Elsa had already closed her eyes, completely passed out. It seemed she was truly exhausted.
After finding a household, Beihai activated his money power and successfully earned the family's welcome.
The day passed without incident. When Elsa woke up, she was lying on a bed. The first thing she did upon waking was run to Beihai on her bare little feet.
Beihai, not wanting to dampen the mood, immediately picked up the adorable little one.
Actually, Beihai had been sitting at the door, watching the seawater outside, occasionally fiddling with the two bottles of magic potion in his hand. Seeing Elsa well-rested, he was also somewhat pleased.
After picking the little one up again, he felt a bit emotional.
Honestly, he had originally just wanted to find a good family for Elsa to stay with, but such a plan had never been feasible. In this world, whenever there's a stepmother or an adopted child, the outcome is rarely good.
"Alright, now that the rest is over, we should head to the mysterious place."
"Where are we going?"
"To the mysterious seabed, of course, to take a look at the Undersea Kingdom.
To see places that ship logs can never reach, to go on a little trip.
Maybe in the future, we can even ride a pea to the clouds and go to a kingdom in the sky."
Coming to the seaside once more, the two of them swallowed the magic potion together, then simply walked towards the sea.
At first, the seawater passed their knees, then their entire bodies, and then they entered the water and opened their eyes. There was a slight initial discomfort.
Their bodies instinctively held their breath because of the seawater's moisture and a bit of water pressure—all of this felt real.
In the seawater, they slowly began to exhale a ring of bubbles, then took a deep breath. As expected, seawater entered their mouths, but the anticipated feeling of suffocation didn't come. Instead, it was just like being in the outside world.
Beihai discovered that in the seawater, besides sound not traveling well, there was another problem: without a mermaid's tail, they couldn't move quickly through the water. Relying solely on legs and arms, it would be a miracle to reach the seabed in three days.
However, matters of stamina and speed were not something Beihai needed to worry about.
With a powerful push of his legs, he made sure Elsa held onto him tightly. Since they had taken the magic potion, the water pressure wasn't an issue.
In the morning, with the sun's rays, sunlight pierced into the seawater and it was still somewhat bright, but the deeper they went, the darker it became. If Elsa weren't gripping his arm, Beihai truly wouldn't be able to sense her presence.
Moreover, he couldn't feel the passage of time either. He didn't know how long it had been when a bright light appeared before his eyes, and then the entire undersea world became crystal clear.
Here, they saw many, many marine creatures, just like in many cartoons—there were clownfish, seahorses, and sharks.
Two sharks, one big and one small, were foraging. The big one seemed to be teaching the little shark.
The big shark unceremoniously caught a clownfish with its fin and flung it in front of the little shark.
"Now, eat it right in front of me."
The clownfish was alive and very scared, trembling all over.
"I'm on a diet. I read a report that clownfish are actually very bad for the health of sharks like us, you know? Do you know how many calories that shrimp has?
Hmm, oh, super high."
The big shark was starting to get red-hot with anger. You're talking to a shark about calories?
"Eat it."
The clownfish, seeing a chance at survival, immediately began to plead for mercy.
"Please spare me."
"Dad, I think..."
"Hurry up and eat!"
"Don't eat it!"
"No."
"Hurry up, eat, eat, eat!"
"No, Dad, quickly put the clownfish down, put it down."
The little shark's sudden outburst startled the big shark. Then, the clownfish seized the opportunity and swam away. At that moment, the little shark didn't forget to stir the pot.
"Hurry, go, go, you're safe, safe now."
"You... you little..."
The big shark clutched its chest, suddenly feeling a sharp pain. To think it, the acknowledged tyrant and powerhouse of the seabed, had a son who was a vegetarian! Oh, the frustration!
"Dad, Dad, are you okay?"
"I feel... I feel a bit cold."
"Because, um, Dad, because sharks are cold-blooded animals."
"Oh, for goodness' sake, you're hopelessly stupid. Enough, I've had enough. Now you have to take some action—go eat those two people over there."
"Dad, don't be angry. You're so angry your head is getting muddled. How could there possibly be humans in the depths of the sea?"
Right after the big shark and little shark finished their argument, they turned around and looked. Oh, there really were two humans.
The little shark quickly swam up to Beihai and began speaking in a low voice, "I'll just pretend here for a bit. You should run away quickly."
"You're quite a nice shark. Can you tell me why you don't eat meat? Is there some unspeakable difficulty?"
Seeing that they weren't scared, the little shark wasn't scared either and just started chatting.
"This is a bit embarrassing to say. I'm a vegetarian, oh dear."
After confessing, it began to act bashful, feeling very embarrassed.
