70: Their Own Little Universe
Kit:Later in the afternoon, they all gathered around the table for a late lunch, finally having the feast they couldn’t enjoy previously. They joked around and chatted for a bit over the meal, reveling in each other’s company.
Kit was grateful for the warm atmosphere. After the entire ordeal last night, he needed something to ease his nerves, and this quality time with the people he considered family was definitely doing the trick.
When the table was cleared and their plates were vacant of food, they all went their separate ways, Kit especially deciding to have some time alone to recharge. He went up to his room, appreciating the comfort of silence as he curled up by the window with a book in hand.
He was about a hundred pages in when his phone suddenly rang. A bit hesitantly, he picked it up to notice that it was none other than Earth. He carefully set the book face-down to mark the page he was in, before picking up his phone and laying on the bed. “Earth?”
“Kit, hi. Have you checked on Ben yet? How is he? I wanted to call him, but decided against it since he might be resting right now.” He sounded a bit panicked, and Kit immediately felt guilty—he hadn’t thought of updating Earth at all! A lot had happened today, and it had completely slipped his mind.
“Sorry for not calling you sooner,” Kit said. “And yes, P’Kim and I visited him at the hospital earlier. Ben is okay; he’ll recover in due time. You can actually go and visit him as well. I’ll send you the detail and inform Ben as well, so he can alert the guards to let you in.”
“Oh, thank god. That’s good to hear. Then, I’ll drop by the hospital as soon as I can.” Earth sounded a bit relieved.
“Speaking of which… Earth, we have a lot to talk about… things we can’t discuss over the phone,” Kit said carefully. “We should meet up once Ben is out of the hospital, okay? This is really important.”
There was a nervous chuckle on the other end of the line. “You’re making me nervous, honestly. But alright. That’s fine by me. I actually want to talk to you too, about everything that happened the other night...” He sighed. “See you, then. I have to go and check when I can visit Ben.”
From the tone of his voice, he was about to hang up, but Kit said, “Wait.”
“Yes?”
“Earth… are you okay?” Kit asked gently. “How are you feeling, mentally and emotionally? What happened last night…I know it’s not something you can just forget about and it might have been quite traumatizing for you. And I know you are still alone at home now; you must be afraid.”
Earth sighed again. “Well, what can I do? Ever since you became P’Kim’s faenKit was beginning to think he was the worst person to ever exist. First, he was mean to his sister, now he was bringing danger into his friends’ lives.
Even though Earth had been a good sport about it, that didn’t change the fact that he should’ve never been put to danger in the first place.
“Earth, I am so, so“Huh? What on earth are you talking about?” Earth sounded incredulous, as if Kit was out of his mind.”Ben and I will always be by your side, just like how I know that you would do the same for us.”
“Earth…”
“What? Don’t tell me you’re gonna start crying! Please do me a favor and don’t.Kit chuckled. “Okay, okay, I won’t. Since you asked so nicely…”
“That’s a good boy; no wonder you’re P’Kim’s favorite bottom.”
“Hey!”
Earth laughed, but when it subsided, his voice took on a more serious tone. “You know we can’t bring Prem into this, right? He is from a reputed family; he’s got a whole lot more to lose than us.”
“Yes,” Kit said. “I know.” He wished Ben would recover quicker, not only for the health of his friend, but also so that the three of them could talk about the plan already. He felt kind of restless sitting around his room doing nothing.
When Earth finally hung up, a knock came on his door minutes later, not giving Kit time to return to his book.
“Come in.”
P’Aawut poked his head inside. “A gift,” he said, handing Kit a package, “from the master.”
Kit was confused but took the box anyway. “What is this all about?”
P’Aawut’s lips were a thin line, but he could tell that the man was trying his best not to smile. “He asks that you get ready. He is waiting for you in the garden gazebo. That’s all he instructed me to say.”
“Oh. Is that so? Then, khob khun khubLooking at the label of the box, Kit could tell that it was a clothing brand, so P’Kim must have sent him clothes to wear. And he could already guess that the gazebo was their venue for tonight.
As soon as P’Aawut disappeared, closing the door behind him, he rushed to the shower, scrubbing every inch of his body, and when he got out he smelled faintly like lavender.
He remembered vaguely that P’Kim had once told him that he liked his scent, so he wanted to be extra clean and fragrant just for his lover.
He opened the box, tugging carefully at the bow so the wrapped didn’t get badly ripped. Nestled inside was a pair of clothes—a red shirt and white pants. There was also a smaller box with ROLEXHe knew without looking up the make and model of the device that it was expensive—too expensive. He’d have to return it to P’Kim soon.
At the vanity, he brushed his hair so he looked neat, then sprayed perfume all over himself. Once he was finished getting ready, he headed out the door and went to the garden, trying not to break into a run.
There, he found that the path to the gazebo was illuminated by candles with rose petals lining the path, telling him where to go. He chuckled at the sight, walking carefully and appreciating the lengths P’Kim went to surprise him.
At the gazebo, P’Kim stood waiting for Kit, classical music playing in the background. He wore a white shirt and red pants—complementing Kit’s outfit. How cute!
When their eyes met, P’Kim smiled and extended his hand towards Kit.
“There you are, teerakAnd as Kit took the mafia don’s hand, the rest of the world fell away around them; for now, it was only the two of them in their own little universe.
