The Kingpin's Possession

28: The Reason

28: The Reason

Kim:“Sire…are you sure this is a good idea?” Aawut asked Kimhan for probably the thousandth’s time as they got off their private helicopter at the shores of Pattaya city, right outside The Paradise Resort, which was one of Kimhan’s many legal businesses.

“Aawut…” Kim sighed, rubbing at his temples as the helicopter blades finally stopped their rotation and the ear-splitting noise finally came to an end, giving everyone instant relief.

“Kit and Kaya have a right to know, I understand that.” He told his right hand man. “But how do you expect me to tell them that I came here to look for their father, who has just robbed another Jao por“But what if he contacted either of them?” Aawut insisted. “Wouldn’t it help us find him sooner? Pattaya is filled with all kinds of thugs. He could easily be taking shelter at any of the organized crime groups in the city or forming a gang of his own right now.”

“Forming a group isn’t as easy as it seems, especially for a man who had lived on borrowed money all his life while playing dead.” Kim reminded him. “Also, if he’s hiring boys who are looking to make a quick cash, I already have a solution in mind.”

“You want me to send out a notice?” Aawut asked as the hotel staff came running to greet Kimhan.

Kim nodded, not wanting to talk further in front of the hotel staff. However, his nod was enough for Aawut to spring into action as he went away to call for the local groups that he was familiar with, the ones who were willing to do anything for money. If there was any news of a middle aged man arriving in the city last night to take shelter or to form a gang of his own, Kim would get news of it within a day.

“Khun“Karthot khab“Mai pen rai, Khun KimhanKim stepped into his cottage a few minutes later, with the staff bringing in his luggage not long after. He noticed how the woman who served him welcome drinks kept blinking at him from under her lashed, but didn’t pay attention to her tactics.

If it was any other time, he would’ve told off the hotel staff not to disturb him, but at that moment, his mind was filled with worry about both Kit and Kaya. He had room for no one else.

So when he found a phone number written on a napkin that came along with the welcome drinks, he scrunched up the paper and threw it in the trash can before plopping down on the bed and thinking back to the reason that had led to his emergency trip to Pattaya City, while taking slow sips of his refreshing drink.

It had been very early in the morning when he had received P’First’s call, and he had sounded beyond angry and desperate.

The news of the theft had reached P’First almost immediately after Kit’s father had run away and disconnected his phone. After that, he had disappeared without a trace.

However, Kim knew that everyone left a trace and he had been able to trace the point of disconnection of his cell phone to right outside Bangkok Airport. After showing the airport staff the man’s pictures, they had let Kim know that the man had booked a flight to in Pattaya City.

Now, Kim awaited a call from Aawut to confirm from the local gangs that Kit’s father was indeed here and not somewhere else.

Kim was however, extremely glad that the boy, Nong“You’re in no position to make this deal!” P’First had told him when he had demanded that Ben be released from his clutches. “It’s that boy’s father who caused me so much trouble!”

“And you kept on lending him money despite knowing he was trouble, didn’t you?” Kim’s lips had tilted up in a satisfied smirk when he had heard P’First angry cry over the phone. “And once again…you were the one who reached out to me for help. So this negotiation is completely valid…or I could simply leave you to deal with your shit as you please.”

“You don’t care if I kill him?” He had asked in almost what sounded like desperation.

“That man had been proclaimed dead by the police a long time ago.” Kim had shrugged, even though he knew P’First couldn’t see him. “So what if you kill him? The dead can’t be killed twice.”

“You fucking bastard!” The bellow had made Kim wince. “Fine! I will let the boy go! Just catch that fucking bastard or get my money back!”

“I will try my best.”

But Kim did intend to try his best in this matter anyway, regardless of what his enemy clan had ordered. Because catching that man was his priority as well.

Kaya had never spoken about her father, not even when they had been classmates, best friends. All she had known was that her father was dead and he had left a ton of debt behind that had led to her mother overworking and her eventual death.

Kit hardly remembered his father either.

However, Kit now knew that his father wasn’t only alive, but he had been the one who kept on increasing their debt day by day and that had resulted in them almost getting captured by P’First and used for his own heinous means.

Kit’s father must have heard about the news of Kit’s kidnapping and the fact that Kim had saved him and that he was now under the protection of another Mafioso famiglia. So, it had become evident to him that he could no longer live the happy life he once did.

However, it had been extremely foolish of him to steal from another Mafia family and think that there wouldn’t be consequences.

That man had dug his own grave and Kim didn’t have an ounce of mercy for him. Even if he did capture him, he had already planned on handing him back to P’First so he could do whatever he wanted. He didn’t deserve Kit or Kim’s mercy after what he had put his own family through.

Thoughts about Kit plagued his mind as well. What would he do when he woke up to find him gone? Would he think that he bailed on him just like Kit had bailed on him after their first night?

He shook his head of that ridiculous thought. Kit was too mature to have such childish thoughts. Besides, he had left him a note on his pillow, so that he knew that he was away for work and no other reason.

Kit would understand, he was sure of it. However, that didn’t mean that he needed to delay his stay any longer by waiting for that human scum to make the first move.

Kim put down his drink and was about to take his cell phone out of his pocket to call Aawut, to see if he had any new after talking to the local gangs, when his cell began to ring with an incoming call.

“About time.” He muttered under his breath as he answered the call. “Any news of him?”

“Yes, Sire.” Aawut voice rang clear, even though there seemed to be a commotion behind him. It seemed as if he was in one of the market areas of Pattaya. “I’ve been asking the locals about Ayan Ritthirong and someone finally recognized the picture and pointed me to where he could be staying.”

“Then?” Kim asked eagerly, dying to get his hands on the man. “What happened?”

Kim suddenly had a not-so-pleasant sensation in his gut about Aawut’s phone call.

If Aawut had been able to detect where Ayan was…why hadn't he captured him yet? Or used the local gangs to do his dirty work?

“There is…a slight problem.”

“What is it?” Kim asked impatiently. “Aawut, I don’t have all day!”

“You see…he seemed to have taken shelter under a well known group here. And that should be a cause of concern.”

“And which group is this?” Kim raised his eyebrows.

“The Russians.”
