Chapter 822: Turning the Tables

For over an hour, Li Jingyi had been manipulated by Lin Hao, and she was secretly amazed by how strong Lin Hao's stamina was, leaving her burning down below.

"Sister, are you comfortable?" Lin Hao let her sit on his lap so she could take a break.

Li Jingyi obediently leaned against his chest, her small hands caressing his firm torso, playfully complaining, "You little brat, you're too intense! You nearly wore me out!"

"Sis, you're really wet! It's soaked down there!"

"Sis, I'll let you off today. Rest up, and I'll take good care of you next time!" Lin Hao said with a smile, comforting her.

"You rascal, stop messing with me, go bother someone else."

Li Jingyi hinted for him to find another woman to relieve himself and not torment her again.

Lin Hao mischievously gave the entrance of the beautiful sister another touch, scaring her to her feet to leave quickly.

"Hello, hello...County Magistrate Lin, this is Gu Guanyu."

"County Magistrate Lin, I was wondering if you're free tonight? I'd like to invite you out for a meal." Gu Guanyu got straight to the point, inviting him.

"A meal isn't necessary. If there's something to discuss, we can do it over the phone." Lin Hao decisively refused.

"County Magistrate Lin, I just wanted to purely invite you for a meal to thank you for your support in our Water Conservation Bureau's flood control and anti-flood work recently." Gu Guanyu explained with a smile.

"Flood control and anti-flood work is a critical task during our county's flood season and is part of our duty to protect our mother river. Supporting your work is my obligation and part of my duties. There's no need for a meal."

Lin Hao found many legitimate excuses, but plainly, he just didn't want to meet privately with the director to talk business.

If he guessed correctly, Director Gu must be looking to discuss connections related to the land compensation in the new urban district.

"County Magistrate Lin, um...actually, I also wanted to discuss the demolition work in Zhenjiang Village with you."

Director Gu hesitated and then summoned the courage to bring it up.

Since he laid things out there, Lin Hao didn't hold back, directly asking, "Director Gu, how's your work on persuading people going?"

"To be honest, County Magistrate Lin, this persuasion work is really hard. My uncle threw me out and even threatened to cut family ties with me." Director Gu reported bitterly.

"No worries, persuasion is not something to rush. Just take your time." Lin Hao comforted him with a smile.

This cunning old fox was actually trying to brush him off, hoping to use the excuse of cutting family ties to wrap things up, but that was absolutely impossible.

Dealing with these unreasonable sticklers required more than usual means and methods. Since this Director Gu didn't want to support the county's development, naturally, Lin Hao saw no reason to be polite.

It's just that, for now, they hadn't torn things open completely, so Lin Hao comforted him about taking his time.

Lin Hao decisively rejected his request, restraining his anger to give him a polite response.

"But, County Magistrate Lin, I've already fallen out with my uncle's family. The work here is really difficult..." Gu Guanyu continued to find excuses.

"This is a task assigned to you by the county committee and government, and I hope Director Gu will give it your all. If you cannot complete the persuasion work, then don't return to work temporarily."

Lin Hao replied coldly, essentially laying down the law.

"Not return to work temporarily? Is this your decision, County Magistrate Lin?" Director Gu evidently picked up on something and got a bit angry.

If he completely fell out with Lin Hao, his position as director might be in jeopardy.

Director Gu was silent for a full ten seconds before responding in a low voice, "County Magistrate Lin, I have no objections, but..."

"But what?" Lin Hao's temper flared.

He didn't expect Director Gu to be so uncooperative and even try to counter him, which naturally provoked his wrath.

"Director Gu, the county committee and government assigned such an important task to you. Rather than finding a way to solve it, you question me instead. It seems you have quite a lot of issues with me!"

Lin Hao's voice turned icy cold, with an underlying threat that made one's hair stand on end.

Director Gu verbally expressed reluctance, effectively declining the task.
