Chapter 228: Who Is She Kept By?
Chapter 228: Who Is She Kept By?
Chapter 228: Who’s Her Sugar Daddy?
Although Tristan Sterling and Julian Jennings were competitors, they had each other’s personal contact information, though they rarely used it.
The post he made quickly caused quite a stir.
People started messaging him privately one after another.
Franklin Fitzwilliam: So you’ve finally figured it out. Looks like you two had a good time. Has Rachel warmed up to you at all?
Even though her face wasn’t clear at all, anyone who knew her could tell it was Rachel Royce with just one look.
Jason Sinclair: So you went too. Yesterday, was it that you didn’t want to go, or that she didn’t want you there? It’s so hard to guess!
Tristan Sterling ignored him completely.
Jason Sinclair continued: Did you get pissed off last night? So you had to post a picture together to clap back.
Julian Jennings had also made a post last night, with a photo similar to the one Rachel Royce had shared.
Tristan Sterling ignored Jason Sinclair, instead replying to Franklin Fitzwilliam: As long as Melissa’s happy, that’s all that matters.
Franklin Fitzwilliam: True. After how you treated Rachel in the past, there’s no way she’d forgive you that easily.
Tristan Sterling just sent a smiley face emoji.
Alexander Sullivan sent him a message: Is that Korvale?
Tristan Sterling: Yeah, it’s beautiful. You should come see it sometime.
Alexander Sullivan: What’s the point of me going alone? I’m not like you.
Tristan Sterling: Then you should hurry up and settle down with someone.
Alexander Sullivan: I never thought I’d see the day you, the confirmed bachelor, would be telling someone else to settle down.
Tristan Sterling: Well, you don’t even have a kid.
Alexander Sullivan: Okay, okay. Claire has definitely seen your post.
Rachel Royce noticed that Tristan Sterling was busy typing replies to his messages.
’They must all be asking about his post.’
’You can’t even see me clearly in the photo, anyway. If he wants to post it, that’s his business. People will ask him about it, not me. What does it have to do with me?’
Rachel Royce paid it no more mind.
It was noon by the time the car reached the city.
Rachel Royce had lunch with Melissa.
"Aunt Evelynn has to go to work now. Melissa, go home and get a good day’s rest, and be ready for school tomorrow."
Though Melissa was reluctant to see Rachel Royce leave, she knew her mother had to work and she couldn’t bother her. "Then, Mommy, let’s call tonight."
Melissa kept calling her Mommy, and Rachel allowed it, no longer correcting her.
"Mm, okay. We’ll talk tonight."
After saying goodbye to Melissa, Rachel Royce got into the car driven by Miles Sheldon.
Tristan Sterling got into his car with Melissa.
Melissa looked at her father and said, "Daddy, Mommy didn’t even make me call her Aunt Evelynn anymore. Daddy, you have to try really hard to make Mommy like you so you can marry her, okay? Don’t let anyone else steal her away!" Her innocent tone held a hint of bossiness.
Tristan Sterling looked at his daughter and stroked her little head. Agreeing with her, he said, "I know."
Rachel Royce went home to freshen up first. She had just finished changing her clothes when she received a call from Julian Jennings.
"Rachel, you’re not home yet?"
"I just got home," Rachel Royce said. "I’m about to leave for the office."
"Okay. Be careful on the road."
She had a routine meeting at two-thirty and needed to hurry to make it.
As the end of the year approached, the company had to complete all its summary reports and data analysis, as well as launch new projects.
The entire company was bustling with activity.
Joanna Sutton told her today that an issue had arisen with the funding for a biomedical project she was managing. She had already suspended the problematic payment and had notified the other party via email, explaining the circumstances.
However, they still needed to discuss the details in person.
The meeting was scheduled for ten o’clock the next morning.
At eight o’clock that evening, she was still at the office working overtime when she took a call from Melissa.
"Daddy and Mommy are both so busy with work," Melissa said. "Daddy isn’t even home yet."
"Melissa, be a good girl and go to sleep," Rachel Royce replied. "You have kindergarten in the morning."
...
After the call ended, Rachel Royce continued working until nine o’clock before getting ready to go home.
Suddenly, she received a call from Thomas Sterling.
"Thomas, what’s up?"
"Are you still busy?" Thomas Sterling asked.
"I just got off work. About to head home. Have you been drinking?" she asked, hearing the heavy slur in his voice.
"Yeah. Do me a favor."
Thomas Sterling was drinking with friends, who had gotten him out tonight mainly to ask for a favor. It was a favor he couldn’t easily grant, but he couldn’t outright refuse either.
He was just looking for an excuse to get away.
"Alright, I’ll come get you now."
She left her office, just as Julian Jennings was about to knock on the door.
Julian Jennings looked at her. "Heading out?"
Rachel Royce nodded.
They walked toward the elevators together.
Julian Jennings asked if she wanted to get a late-night snack.
"I have to go pick up Thomas right now," Rachel Royce said.
"What’s wrong with Thomas?" Julian Jennings asked.
Rachel Royce gave him a brief explanation.
Julian Jennings nodded. "Alright, then. Drive safe."
When they reached the underground garage, Rachel Royce said goodbye to Julian Jennings and drove away.
She arrived at the address Thomas Sterling had given her: a high-end, members-only club. Luxury cars were parked everywhere outside.
After parking her car, she called Thomas Sterling.
She didn’t go inside, deciding to wait for him out front.
She hadn’t been waiting long before someone came over to hit on her. "Hey, beautiful. All alone? Let us buy you a drink inside."
Rachel Royce looked at the two men in front of her, didn’t answer, and simply moved a short distance away.
But the two men were persistent and followed her. "Hey, beautiful, don’t be nervous. We just want to buy you a drink." As he spoke, one of them even tried to grab her.
Rachel Royce slapped his hand away. Her eyes went cold as she stared at them. "You want to buy me a drink? Fine. First, transfer a hundred million to my account. Let’s see what you’re made of."
Hearing this, the two men froze for a moment. One of them recovered and chuckled, "Beautiful, you’re quite the joker."
Rachel Royce sneered. "Who’s joking with you? You don’t even have a hundred million, so what kind of drink do you think you can buy? I’d advise you to go make some money first!"
’When did it become a woman’s place to sneer at him like that?’ he thought, having been so blatantly mocked without saying another word.
The man’s expression soured. "So which billionaire’s woman are you?" ’For her to talk like that,’ he thought, ’a woman with her looks must be some rich guy’s sugar baby.’
Rachel Royce couldn’t be bothered to waste her breath on people like him.
Suddenly, she caught sight of a figure approaching. The man’s presence was too powerful to ignore.
She glanced over and saw Tristan Sterling striding toward them.
’What is he doing here?’
Seeing her suddenly go quiet, the man failed to notice the newcomer and continued to sneer, "I’ve seen plenty of sugar babies like you—"
"Who’s her sugar daddy?"
A low, cold voice laced with an invisible pressure cut through the air. The man froze. He turned his head and was stunned to see the tall man now standing beside him. He had to physically look up to meet his eyes.
The man was so shocked he didn’t know what to say.
