Chapter 196: Such Weak Willpower?

Chapter 196: Such Weak Willpower?

Chapter 196: Is Your Willpower That Weak?

Rachel Royce went straight to the reception room.

Pushing the door open, she saw a man on the phone, standing before the floor-to-ceiling window. He stood there, exuding an invisible aura of pressure.

"Evelynn, you’re here," the manager greeted Rachel.

Rachel Royce looked at Tristan Sterling.

Tristan Sterling turned to look at her, said a few more words into the phone, and then hung up.

He returned to his seat.

Rachel composed herself, walked forward, and asked, "What brings you here, President Sterling?"

Tristan leaned back in his chair, his posture casual, but when he looked up, his gaze held an authority that brooked no argument. He said, "I’m here to understand KU’s current operational status. I’ll have to trouble Miss Evelynn to bring me all of your company’s financial project data from the last two years."

Rachel stared at him, wondering what he was trying to do now.

Seeing that Rachel hadn’t moved, Tristan’s dark eyes darkened slightly. "Miss Evelynn," he said.

Rachel turned to the manager beside her. "Go and prepare a copy."

The manager acknowledged the order and promptly left the office.

Rachel pulled out a chair opposite the man and sat down, then took her phone out of her bag to send David a message.

Tristan had shown up unannounced today, and there was no telling how long he would stay. Her meeting to discuss details with the other party was originally scheduled for one in the afternoon.

Just in case, she asked David if they could postpone it for a day.

David received the message and quickly replied, "No problem."

Rachel breathed a small sigh of relief.

Tristan watched the woman across from him texting on her phone, his cold eyes narrowing. "Is this your idea of a professional attitude?"

His words hung in the air.

Rachel looked up at the man she had been ignoring, her beautiful eyes turning cool. She then stood up directly, paying no mind to his snide remarks. "President Sterling, you arrived without notice, so preparing the documents will take some time. Please be patient. I’ll go and get ready as well."

With that,

She walked right out of the reception room.

In an instant,

The entire reception room was left with only Tristan Sterling and the executive assistant NS had assigned to accompany him.

He remembered that the last time they came, the people at KU had been incredibly enthusiastic, accompanying them the entire time and providing detailed information.

Faced with the current situation, the assistant couldn’t quite figure out what was going on.

’Do they not know Mr. Sterling’s identity?’

’But I just clearly explained to their manager that whether NS needs project investment funds or development channels in the future, it’s all up to Mr. Sterling.’

’Or is it that this Miss Evelynn doesn’t know?’

’Even so...’

’Is this the proper attitude for a company in its growth phase to have toward its major shareholder?’

’Just leaving us here all alone?’

’That Evelynn is far too arrogant.’

He turned his head to look at Tristan Sterling and saw his tense profile.

"Mr. Sterling."

The assistant called out cautiously and respectfully.

Rachel returned to her office.

Lina followed her in. Lina was a local Chinese woman and KU’s Chief Operating Officer.

"Evelynn, that Mr. Sterling is the executive director who acquired NS Silvercrest."

Rachel said, "I know."

Lina was puzzled and couldn’t help but worry. "Then is it really a good idea to just leave Mr. Sterling in the reception room like that?"

Rachel said calmly, "Lina, go back to your work. Don’t worry about them."

Lina was still very worried.

Seeing her expression, Rachel consoled her, "Then just prepare the project data as quickly as possible and hand it over to Mr. Sterling."

Lina nodded slightly. "Okay."

Lina turned to leave.

Just as she reached the office door, she ran into a man who had just appeared.

Lina was startled, but quickly recovered and called out, "Mr. Sterling."

Tristan Sterling grunted in acknowledgment and walked straight into the office.

Lina lowered her head and quickly walked out.

Rachel frowned as she watched the man enter.

Tristan walked directly to her desk and stopped, looking down at Rachel. He said in a deep voice, "You’re an adult. Do you really think this is a professional way to behave?"

No matter how she heard it, his tone was condescending and lecturing.

"Do you think KU is your personal company? That you don’t have to be responsible for the employees who fought alongside you? That you can do whatever you want without caring if they live or die?"

The meaning behind his words.

How could Rachel not understand?

He was threatening her. He could make her pay for her earlier actions and make the entire company suffer along with her.

"A big shot like you, President Sterling, coming here personally to warn and threaten me... Anyone who didn’t know better would think KU is some kind of major power."

"Are you incapable of speaking civilly?"

Rachel leaned back in her office chair, looking up at the man. "I’m sorry, but I really didn’t get the impression from your imperious attitude that you wanted to have a civil conversation with me."

Tristan’s dark eyes stared at her intently.

Suddenly,

The man turned, walked directly to the sofa, and sat down. He then ordered casually, "Make me a cup of coffee."

Rachel’s eyes narrowed, and her face darkened.

Tristan looked at her. "Are you just going to make me wait here with nothing?"

Rachel averted her gaze and used the intercom to have someone bring coffee.

Then she heard the man’s infuriating words. "I only drink freshly ground."

Rachel said, "We don’t have any."

Tristan’s gaze landed on a coffee machine in her office. "Is that just for decoration?"

’Is he trying to get me to make it for him?’

"Sorry, I’m busy."

After that cold reply, she went back to her work, treating him like he was thin air.

Tristan watched her.

The woman was wearing a long, purple dress today, her long hair tied in a low ponytail. The light from the window fell on her, casting a halo, illuminating her exquisite, tense face.

The man couldn’t help but let out a low chuckle.

He got up and walked toward the coffee machine.

Rachel heard the coffee machine start to whir.

An indescribable irritation welled up inside her.

Soon, the rich aroma of coffee filled the air.

He carried the coffee to the bookshelf, as relaxed and comfortable as if he were in his own office. He then picked out a book, sat down on the sofa, and noticed Rachel’s glare.

"Could I trouble you to wait outside, President Sterling? Please don’t disturb my work," Rachel said.

Tristan casually flipped open the book in his hands and said, "Is your willpower that weak?"

Rachel: "..."

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in."

The receptionist entered, first noticing the man sitting in the office, then turning to Rachel. "Evelynn, you have a visitor."

Rachel asked in confusion, "Who is it?"

Before the receptionist could answer,

She saw a man walk in carrying a large bouquet of roses.

The moment she saw him,

Rachel’s expression instantly soured.

The man who walked in was none other than Zion Alden, holding a bouquet of bright red roses in one arm. His exquisitely handsome face and long, deep-set eyes held a chilling aura.

Rachel’s hand tightened around her pen.

The moment Zion entered, he saw Tristan Sterling sitting on the sofa, drinking coffee. He was slightly stunned, but then a smile touched his thin lips. "What a coincidence. You’re here too."

Tristan Sterling’s gaze fell on the roses in his hand.
