Chapter 702 Isabella's Tears

Chapter 702 Isabella's Tears

Chapter 702  Isabella's Tears

"You're back? I heard you were imprisoned in the eastern region. What happened?"

Isabella looked at Nolan, who was walking toward her, with a curious expression.

Nolan smiled. Instead of answering right away, he stepped forward and hugged her.

"I'm back, Mother," he said affectionately.

Isabella raised an eyebrow. It had been a long time since Nolan had acted so clingy, and usually, when he did, it meant there was a big problem he couldn't solve on his own.

However, she didn't push him away. Instead, she returned his hug.

"Did you make a big mistake?" she asked suspiciously, stroking her son's head.

Nolan let out a small sigh and released her.

"Yes, I did," he admitted honestly. "But you don't need to worry. I've already taken care of it."

Isabella was a little surprised. She had thought her son would ask for her help to resolve the matter.

Who would've thought everything had already been handled?

Still, that was a good thing. After all, Nolan was a man now. He should be able to deal with his own affairs.

Nolan sat down beside his mother and looked around.

"Where's Eliza?" he asked.

"She went to the Blue Moon office to discuss work matters with Miss Shion," Isabella replied casually. "She'll be back soon. Just wait."

No sooner had she said that than an excited voice rang out from the distance.

"Big Brother Nolan!"

Nolan looked up and saw Eliza, dressed in an adorable blue dress, running toward him with sparkling eyes.

Nolan smiled, then crouched down and spread his arms wide.

The little girl jumped into his arms and hugged him tightly.

"I missed you so much, Big Brother! When did you get back?"

Nolan held her for a moment before sitting back down.

"I just returned a little while ago," he replied gently. "And I missed you too."

Seeing the affection between the two siblings, Isabella simply smiled and didn't interrupt.

"Big Brother, let's go for a walk!" Eliza exclaimed excitedly.

Nolan was about to refuse, but he swallowed his words when he saw the hopeful look on Eliza's face.

"Alright." He smiled and ruffled her hair. "Go change your clothes first. Then we'll go. I'll buy you lots of snacks."

"Really!?" Eliza's eyes sparkled as if they were filled with stars.

"Of course. Do you think your big brother would lie?" Nolan pinched her right cheek.

Eliza quickly shook her head. "No! I believe you!"

Nolan nodded in satisfaction. "Then hurry up."

Without hesitation, Eliza jumped down and ran inside.

Nolan then turned to Isabella. "Mother, there's something I want to talk to you about."

Isabella gave a faint smile. "Go ahead. I'm listening."

Nolan paused for a moment before finally saying, "I killed Prince Aldrian with my own hands."

Isabella's eyes widened. Her body trembled slightly, but she quickly forced herself to calm down.

"What was your reason for doing that?" she asked in a heavy voice.

"To save Seira," Nolan answered honestly. "And also for the safety of the empire."

Isabella narrowed her eyes. "To save Seira… and for the safety of the empire?"

Nolan nodded and explained everything to her, including his alliance with Karakh.

His mother was one of the few people he could truly trust. What's more, his father would eventually tell her the truth anyway, so there was no harm in telling her now.

Only after Nolan finished explaining everything did Isabella fully understand the situation. Her expression turned complicated as she said, "You're really reckless, Nolan. If you get hurt, I… I…"

Her voice faltered, and tears began to well up in the corners of her eyes.

Nolan was startled. He quickly wiped them away.

"Mother…" His expression also grew complicated, and he pulled Isabella into his embrace.

Isabella sobbed uncontrollably, making Nolan feel even more guilty.

'Hah…' Nolan let out a small sigh and muttered, 'I shouldn't have told her…'

A few minutes later…

Isabella finally calmed down, though traces of tears still clung to her cheeks.

She pinched Nolan's ear and scolded him, "Next time, don't do something so reckless. Otherwise, I'll hit you!"

"Ouch!" Nolan groaned and quickly apologized. "Yes, I understand! Let go, Mother! That hurts!"

Isabella smiled in satisfaction and finally released him.

Nolan rubbed his reddened ear, but there was no displeasure on his face.

"Big Brother, what happened to you?"

A worried voice came from behind.

Nolan turned and saw Eliza. He cleared his throat.

"It's nothing." He stood up and immediately changed the subject. "Are you ready?"

Eliza's face instantly brightened. "Mhmm! I'm ready!"

Nolan turned to Isabella and said his goodbyes. "In that case, I'm leaving with Eliza."

"Be careful. Come back before nightfall," Isabella reminded him.

Nolan nodded. He took Eliza's hand and walked away.

"Goodbye, Mom!" Eliza waved enthusiastically.

Isabella smiled and waved back. But once the two of them disappeared from view, the smile on her face slowly faded.

"You two, come here," she commanded coldly.

Whoosh!

Two figures appeared behind her. Both wore red robes and fox masks.

Judging by their build, they were clearly men.

"What are your orders, Your Highness?" the man on the left asked respectfully.

Isabella turned to face them. They were special guards sent by her father.

It was no exaggeration to say that neither of them was any weaker than the Seven Mages of the Constellations on her husband's side.

"I want you to investigate what's happening in the Ancient Kingdom of Eron," she ordered calmly. "Leave nothing out—not even a single detail. Understood?"

After hearing Nolan's explanation earlier, she felt he was still hiding something. And she was certain it was extremely important.

"As you command, Your Highness!" they replied in unison.

Without another word, the two of them vanished from sight.

Isabella took a deep breath and stared in the direction Nolan had gone.

"I hope you aren't hiding something serious," she muttered. "Otherwise…"

She snorted coldly and turned to leave.

Two days later…

"Hah…" Elina let out a long sigh, occasionally glancing outside.

Rafine noticed her unease and asked, "What's wrong?"

Elina shook her head. "I'm just worried. My brother hasn't contacted me in three days. Could something have happened to him?"

By her calculations, Nolan should have contacted her yesterday. But strangely, even now, he still hadn't reached out.

What she feared most was that their father had actually locked him up in prison, and she didn't want that to happen.

"Hmmm…" Rafine furrowed her brow. "I haven't heard from Nolan either. But I don't think His Majesty the Emperor would lock him up, would he? Nolan had a reason to kill Aldrian to save Princess Seira."

Hearing this, Elina finally calmed down a little.

"You're right…"

She forced an awkward smile, trying to suppress the anxiety still lingering in her chest.

Just then, footsteps sounded from outside.

"Your Highness, it's me, Luvistar! I have news from the imperial palace!"

Elina's eyes lit up. She hurriedly stood and walked to the door, then opened it.

"What is it?"

Luvistar handed her a golden envelope.

Elina immediately opened it and read the contents. But two minutes later, her expression froze.

"Huh? A reward for my service and achievements?"
