Chapter 212: Demon God Pillar
Chapter 212: Demon God Pillar
The very instant Erwind finished speaking, Fisher vaguely felt the surrounding water currents begin to undergo a massive change. Frowning, he looked toward the ground, only to discover branches covered in green leaves were constantly spreading along the ground. And judging from the cracks produced by the battle earlier, the entire treasury space had been silently occupied by those terrifying branches.
But those were not real trees. If observed carefully, one could see those twisted, dry branches were completely festooned with eyes resembling cherries.
The instant those eyes were born, the water current across the entire ground began to become extremely viscous. The treasury hall behind them abruptly collapsed. Fisher looked back; that mother goddess statue cast from crystal had started moving at some unknown time.
The mother goddess' head fell off, and from within grew twisted arms, pushing it to advance continuously forward.
The entire treasury seemed to have come alive in this instant. Fisher reached out his Fluid Sword, tentatively attacking those branches once. Yet he saw that the moment the branch snapped, even more flesh-and-blood branches grew out from within, seemingly as if in an endless stream.
"What surprises me is, why didn't Mr. Fisher read the knowledge within after obtaining the Soul Completion Handbook? In the battle with Black just now, you didn't use any knowledge regarding the soul to help you. If you had read that knowledge, perhaps you could still continue fighting right now..."
"Read it and become a madman like you?"
Fisher covered his lower abdomen. Seeing the surrounding vegetation constantly growing but very intelligently bypassing the fallen Jasmine beside him, Fisher finally breathed a sigh of relief, fully dedicating his gaze onto the enemy before his eyes.
These surrounding things couldn't be killed; he could only try to kill Erwind's true body.
He abruptly twisted the Fluid Sword in his hand, but beneath the treasury ground, branch-like arms constantly grew out, deadly entangling Fisher's body. Those branches, akin to maggots on the bone, constantly extracted the blood within his body the instant they extended onto Fisher's body. The numerous surrounding branches tugged at Fisher like a whirlpool of flesh and blood, constantly making him sink. The treasury ground was like a whirlpool. Gritting his teeth, Fisher looked down, only to see incomplete torsos continuously waving at him from below, resembling a paradise-like hell.
In this instant, the entire underground had become a part of Erwind's body. As more and more blood was extracted, Fisher's complexion also became increasingly pale.
"Mr. Fisher, you are ultimately a person living in the secular world. Pherone had this bad habit as well... Wait until whenever you can cast your vision further afield, placing it upon the timeframe of the entire world, the entire society, and then look back, you will be able to understand that apart from truth, everything else is utterly meaningless."
"Fleeting and fragile moral character and emotions are merely burdens to people like you and me. Only a heart firmly and unshakeably pursuing truth is eternal and unchanging."
Fisher spoke no nonsense at all. The Fluid Sword in his hand fiercely flew out following his will, instantly piercing through the countless branches wrapping around him, flying straight toward Erwind's true body nearby.
The Fluid Sword continuously spun in midair, quickly chopping and slicing open that standing Erwind. But in Fisher's line of sight, his body was abruptly cut into two segments. Countless blood flowed, and he also became entirely devoid of sound.
Yet in the very next moment, upon the surrounding branches, another giant bird beak grew out anew, looking straight at the Fisher before its eyes.
"Look, the imprisonment of the physical body already has absolutely no relation to me. Even if you exert however much force, you cannot kill me; this is the true power of knowledge. In places Mr. Fisher's naked eyes cannot see, do you know how the human body is composed? Do you know how people are infected with plagues? Hypocritical morality and preaching ah, cannot save the people of the present and the future..."
Fisher looked straight at the person before his eyes, his expression unchanging, yet the Fluid Sword received a call anew and retreated back, sinking straight into the body of the person before his eyes. The狂暴 sword blade chewed the branches into pieces one by one. Before Fisher had time to catch his breath, a violent, massive force struck him upon his back.
That headless mother goddess statue occupied by branches suddenly appeared and sent Fisher flying. The bones all over his body simultaneously emitted wails of grief. Gritting his teeth, he used the Fluid Sword to carve a long mark on the ground, finally managing to brake. He lay upon the ground rather exhaustedly, his gaze permeated with fresh blood. Breathing with all his might, he raised his head to look at that giant cavern drilled out by Anna; outside was the azure sky of Saint-Nazareth.
Fisher didn't doubt in the slightest that this was very likely the last time he would see such a beautiful sky scenery. Thus in this second, panting, he rather greedily recorded that scenery into his mind.
Could this be his ultimate end? Could it be the mother goddess punishing his greed and hesitation?
"Buzz buzz buzz..."
"Mr. Fisher, do you still need to rest for a while midway?"
On all sides of the cavern in the sky, those flesh-and-blood-like branches constantly spread, gradually wanting to wrap up the entire space. But in the final moment before that cavern was wrapped up, Fisher vaguely saw a faint glimmering red star in the sky.
Are there stars out during the daytime too?
Only just as this thought sprouted, above the cavern wrapped in flesh and blood, that star drew closer and closer, the sound also growing increasingly louder. A bizarre, piercing wind sound of air bursting and burning transmitted from above the sky, smashing straight toward this cavern on Klein Mountain Peak drilled out by Anna.
"Buzz buzz!"
A boiling hot temperature akin to magma fiercely roared over. A rather powerful-feeling figure drew out that bizarre curved sword whose scabbard Fisher had never seen opened before in midair.
"Rumble!"
A massive sound of an airwave exploding detonated in midair. Fisher's body ached severely; frowning, his ears forcefully throbbed with pain from that sonic wave. But fortunately, that terrifying attack wasn't aimed toward himself.
In the next moment, a familiar scorching figure lightly landed beside Fisher, while that headless giant mother goddess statue in the distance also instantly shattered apart, collapsing onto the ground.
The entire treasury was overflowing with a bloody aura. Countless branches were severed and chopped to pieces by the curved sword. The surrounding temperature abruptly rose.
Fisher opened his eyes groggily. Raising his head to look, he hazily saw a giant pillar of fire as lofty as a mountain peak. That pillar of fire stood upon the ground of hell. Beneath the pillar of fire, countless humans and Demi-humans wearing warrior attire knelt down bowing in submission.
"Great Demon God, grant us noble warrior character and allow me to defend my homeland. For this, I am willing to dedicate my everything."
Those devout figures trembling due to fear knelt on the ground, offering up their everything to the pillar of fire before their eyes.
But Fisher didn't hear how that pillar of fire answered, because such terrifying scenery only lasted for a mere single second.
After one second, replacing that pillar of fire and appearing before Fisher was merely a lackadaisical demon with long red hair. She let out a yawn. Her casual line of sight, upon seeing the wretched Fisher lying on the ground, finally revealed a little visible smile,
"It's been a while since we met, aww. Just looking at you, you clearly haven't been practicing what I taught you properly, getting beaten to this extent."
Her expression was lazy, and her movements didn't even bring about any panting. Upon her high-raised arrow tail behind her, that fireball was scorching like the sun. It was precisely the demon Eliog Fisher had encountered before.
Perhaps it was precisely because of that night, which felt rather casual even when spoken about now, that their relationship became less than pure, instead harboring an indescribable sense of subtlety.
Meeting again at this moment, Fisher surprisingly didn't have any surprised expression. He smiled silently, self-mockingly saying,
"Indeed, after all, lacking a teacher's guidance, the progress of practice isn't fast..."
"Now you finally know how good a teacher I am, aww. That tens of thousands of human gold coins actually came with my security services attached. You made a massive profit, Fisher."
"I'll compensate you a bit more then, but I'm out of money."
It seemed the person Eliog was pursuing was this Erwind before his eyes. Previously he even thought the person possessing the Completion Handbook was Black, even confused as to why she left to pursue while Black clearly hadn't left Saint-Nazareth.
Eliog smiled slightly but didn't answer further, merely carrying that curved sword to stand up. The shape of that curved sword was bizarre; on the side rear of the blade hung two tiny silver rings. Every time the blade was swung, those bells would ring crisply. Once the bells rang, it would cause a violent explosion. That was why there was such a terrifying explosive sound when she swung the blade in midair earlier.
But then again, Eliog's combat ability could truly be called terrifying. The entire treasury was beaten nearly to pieces by Eliog descending from the sky, let alone those flesh-and-blood branches of Erwind's.
"Ah, what a miscalculation. To actually let the [Demon God Pillar] Eliog catch my tail, an [Eighteenth Tier] high-ranking Demon Species... I thought Agreas had already called you back."
Fisher was injured too heavily, unable to get up and see what Erwind's current situation was like, only able to hear his voice.
The body of Erwind in the distance had already been broken into two segments. At that neat wound, you could still see pitch-black traces scorched by high temperatures. But what was frightening was, even having been hacked to this extent, Erwind was still alive, still able to manipulate that body to speak, and still able to make the two bodies draw closer to recover.
"Going back will also be after dealing with you, you damned sinner..."
Eliog's lazy expression became extremely apathetic upon seeing Erwind. The fighting intent in her eyes grew increasingly increasingly exalted. Tightly gripping the blade in her hand, she aimed it at Erwind before her eyes.
Being aimed at by that terrifying killing intent, Erwind gave a bitter laugh. The torso broken into two halves simultaneously raised their hands, rather comically surrendering toward Eliog,
"Oh my, I truly didn't expect Mr. Fisher also has connections with the esteemed Eliog, and furthermore possessing the [Death Rune] brought from Agreas. Do you demons really want me to die that much?"
But Eliog was no longer prepared to waste words with the person before her eyes. She fiercely hoisted the battle blade in her hand. The instant the battle blade swung, a scorching magma akin to a giant hand deadly gripped that Erwind who was still opening his mouth. The muscles on Erwind's surface were constantly being scorched, yet as if unable to feel pain, he stretched out his right hand toward Eliog,
"Oh my, it hurts, it hurts..."
Watching the person before her eyes being pinched, Eliog held the blade with her left hand, while her right hand gripped that short dagger-like weapon fastened behind her waist. The instant Eliog's hand contacted that dagger, an ominous and bizarre rune akin to the abyss began to burst forth upon that dagger.
"Buzz buzz..."
But before drawing the blade, Erwind's fingers moved slightly, urging a twisted flesh-and-blood tentacle on the ground to strike toward the immobilized Fisher on the ground. Fisher's expression changed slightly, but nonetheless shouted towards Eliog,
"Kill him!"
Eliog's action in midair stagnated slightly. Hesitating for a second, she abruptly let go of that short dagger, turning back and reaching back with a single blade strike to shatter that flesh-and-blood tentacle assaulting Fisher to pieces.
"Hehe, thanking Eliog for the mercy. Then I shall take my leave first today, waiting to visit Mr. Fisher anew later..."
And the twisted bird beak of the Erwind before their eyes, clearly lacking facial features, abruptly revealed a humanized "just as expected" expression. He cast an interested glance at the Fisher lying on the ground.
In the next moment, his body slowly decomposed and shattered, instantly turning into countless dense little flying insects that scattered. Aiming at those little flying insects before her eyes, Eliog sighed, and subsequently exhaled a breath fiercely. That breath transformed into scorching flames in midair, swallowing those little flying insects completely in an instant.
"Crack..."
Struggling, the flying insects turned into flying ash in midair. At this point, the restless Soul Completion Handbook on Fisher's body instantly quieted down.
He looked at that Eliog walking toward his side with difficulty, and thereafter opened his mouth to inquire,
"Did he die?"
"No, this method cannot kill him..."
Eliog squatted down beside Fisher, yet from her peripheral vision she saw the Whale-girl Jasmine lying nearby. In a place Fisher couldn't see, her brows raised slightly.
In the next moment, the massive fireball upon the demon tail behind her once again became small and dim. Simultaneously she let out a yawn. Amidst Fisher's astonished gaze, Eliog rapidly squatted down, grabbing Fisher's neck with one handful, pulling him to touch her own lips.
"Ugh!"
Even Fisher hadn't expected her to suddenly pull this act, but right now his entire body ached severely, fundamentally unable to resist this terrifying demon girl...
Since he couldn't resist, he could only enjoy it.
Fisher's eyes turned into dead fish eyes, his body remaining completely motionless.
Seeing Fisher completely give up resisting, a trace of joy and satisfaction flashed across Eliog's eyes. This kiss lasted for a long time before she reluctantly let down the Fisher in her hands.
Fisher exhaled a breath. Feeling the ambiguous scent of blood mixed with saltpeter upon his lips, he inquired,
"...What are you doing?"
"Helping heal you... oh, and also satisfying my craving."
