Chapter 702 The Statue
Chapter 702 The Statue
An Xue sighed for a moment, then placed the cleaned diving suit on the shore before diving back into the water!
The riverbed was all pebbles, and even after she had been swimming underwater for so long, the water remained clear.
After swimming for a while, An Xue suddenly saw something in the crevices of the scattered rocks, so she reached out and turned over the stones.
A round black object emerged, and when she picked it up, she found it was something similar to a badge.
Upon closer inspection, An Xue’s heartbeat suddenly quickened a lot!
She hurriedly surfaced and returned to the shore!
Looking at the badge and then at the birthmark on her calf, An Xue was a bit bewildered!
"What, what is this?"
The material of the badge was indistinguishable, but on it was a simple line drawing of a fish.
The shape was exactly the same as the birthmark on her leg!
An Xue’s eyes were filled with confusion as she fell into great doubt.
Meanwhile, outside, Ling Feng was wandering aimlessly through the forest at that time.
After walking for an entire day without finding any way to leave this place, he was truly getting anxious.
No matter how nice this place is, it’s not as good as home, right?
Besides, knowing that both he and An Xue were missing, everyone must be really worried, right?
The more he thought about it, the more agitated he became. When he saw a raised mound of earth in front, Ling Feng kicked it forcefully!
"Bang!"
The dirt flew from his kick, revealing the stone underneath.
Ling Feng paused, noticing the intricate patterns on the stone, and quickly squatted down to clean it up with his utility knife.
As the dirt was cleared away, a statue lying on the ground was revealed.
"What’s this?"
Ling Feng was a bit stunned, thinking, why would there be a statue here?
Standing up and looking around, he saw there were many more mounds ahead, suggesting that beneath them lay similar statues!
"Is this some sort of ancient ruins?"
Ling Feng scratched his head and hurriedly moved forward.
After walking a few hundred meters more, he arrived next to a huge depression.
The depression was actually an enormous space below the horizon, filled with scattered rocks everywhere.
Because it was getting dark, Ling Feng couldn’t clearly see what was inside and, after hesitating, he jumped down anyway.
After all, he guessed that An Xue probably hadn’t dried her clothes yet, and returning early might seem like he was taking advantage of her situation. It was better to stay outside for a while longer.
After jumping down, Ling Feng discovered that the ground beneath his feet was made up of flat stone slabs, and it seemed like this place used to be the interior of some large building. However, for some reason, the cover on top had suddenly collapsed, turning it into a field of rubble.
Passing through these rocks, Ling Feng arrived at the center of the depression and then his gaze was drawn to a piece of white material.
Upon closer inspection, he realized it was also a sculpture, but it was made from a very special type of stone that looked pure white, almost like jade!
He touched it with his hand, and it felt cool and slightly slippery to the touch.
It was indeed made of jade.
Ling Feng knew this sculpture had to be out of the ordinary, so he moved the scattered stones aside and then carefully stood the sculpture upright.
This thing must be very sturdy, for even though it had fallen over, there were no signs of damage.
After cleaning off the dust, the full image of the sculpture appeared before Ling Feng.
It was a girl, her attire did not resemble that of ancient peoples for she wore a two-piece outfit, much like a conservative swimsuit.
Ling Feng wondered, could this be a worship object left behind by people who used to live here?
Who is she?
After looking around the statue several times and finding no inscriptions, it seemed that this question was unlikely to be answered.
However, because the sculpture was delicately made, Ling Feng didn’t have the heart to just leave it there, so he still put it inside his Space Ring.
Not to mention anything else, its artistic value was indeed very high, it might be exchanged for money if taken back.
After searching around and finding nothing else, Ling Feng then turned and left, heading back to the entrance of the cave.
Before entering, he first asked loudly, "An Xue, have you finished washing up?"
A moment later, An Xue’s voice came, "I’m done, come in!"
Only then did Ling Feng step into the cave.
An Xue was sitting beside the fire, baking herself; hearing footsteps, she looked back and asked, "You were out for quite a while, huh?"
"Just strolled around."
Noticing her hair was still wet, Ling Feng sat down beside her.
"Guess what I found?"
Almost simultaneously, the two of them exclaimed!
"Hm?"
Immediately after, they both paused in surprise!
"I’ll go first!"
An Xue raised her little hand and showed off the black insignia in her hand.
Ling Feng took a look, received it in his hand, and carefully examined it, "Where did you find this?"
"It was in that pond over there." An Xue pointed back.
She continued, "That’s not even the most magical part, the magical thing is that the pattern on it is the same as my birthmark, look!"
After saying that, she stretched out her calf and presented it to Ling Feng.
Ling Feng was startled, then looked at the light pink birthmark and, after comparing, found it to be indeed the same, not only identical in design but also in size!
"That’s crazy, what are the odds?" he asked, perplexed, looking up at An Xue.
"Right, I also think it’s incredible, it must be fate that I found this!" An Xue laughed.
Ling Feng nodded and handed the insignia back to her, "Then take good care of it, you can use it as a protective charm too."
"Mm."
An Xue took the insignia and placed it on the ground, then asked, "So, what did you find?"
"What I found is much bigger than your find!"
Ling Feng laughed and stood up to walk to the clearing, taking out the statue from the Ring!
The jade statue was lifesize, that is, the size of a real person, so when he took it out, An Xue was stunned for a moment, immediately standing up!
The statue was as tall as her; An Xue looked at it in amazement, her little hand stroking the cold jade, she praised, "So beautiful, is this jade?"
"Although I’m not sure which type of jade it is, it’s certainly jade!" Ling Feng nodded.
"This statue must have taken a lot of effort to carve, I wonder who she could be?" An Xue asked curiously.
Ling Feng smiled, thinking that this question was probably hard to answer.
Before he could speak, he saw the statue’s eyes flash slightly, as though emitting a bit of light!
Seeing this, Ling Feng immediately pulled An Xue into his arms!
Caught off guard, An Xue thought he was up to something and didn’t know what to do when the statue’s eyes suddenly lit up!
At the same time, the black insignia on the ground also emitted a silver light!
"What’s going on?"
An Xue asked nervously upon seeing this spectacle.
"Not sure, but when the two met, it seems like something is about to transform!"
Ling Feng tightened his grip around her waist, his eyes alert, deciding that if danger occurred any moment now, he would take An Xue and leave immediately!
