Chapter 602 You Don’t Trust Me?
Wang Laogen smiled, "Then there’s no need to say anything. We’re not interested in her normal identity, what we primarily care about is whether she has any concealed identities!"
After finishing speaking, he got up and left, making a call as he did so.
Li Jianshe still looked bewildered. Seeing this, Ling Feng said to Li Fei’er, "Take your uncle for a chat."
"Okay."
Li Fei’er knew this was to give them some father-daughter time alone, and she did indeed have many things she wanted to ask. So, she got up and pulled Li Jianshe out the door.
After the two of them left, Ling Feng looked at Wang Laogen, who had turned back to him, "It’s becoming more and more like the Black Dragon Sect’s doing."
"It’s only a suspicion for now; we need evidence to confirm it. No need to rush. They can’t stir up much trouble on the land of Huaxia!" Wang Laogen said with a smile.
Ling Feng nodded, "I understand."
No sooner had he spoken than Wang Laogen’s phone rang. He glanced at the number, answered it, and immediately activated the speakerphone.
"I found out. This Yu Hua has properties in Northern Myanmar, spending at least seven or eight months there each year!"
The speaker was Mo Lan, her cool and clear voice quite distinctive.
Wang Laogen nodded, "Mhm, anything else?"
"Based on the financial records of her company, there have been transactions with the Luo Family, as well as some local enterprises in Northern Myanmar. We can confirm she’s from the Black Dragon Sect!" Mo Lan reported.
"Got it, noted!"
Wang Laogen nodded and hung up the phone.
He then looked at Ling Feng, "Taking Li Fei’er away was a pretext, the real purpose was to gather intelligence. Now the Black Dragon Sect knows how many people are around you and the general situation!"
"It seems like it’s time for me to find Feng Ling and ask her about the situation," Ling Feng said, nodding.
"By the way, I’ve been at your house for two days, but I haven’t seen her around. Where did you hide that girl?" Zhang He asked.
"That’s a secret!"
Ling Feng chuckled covertly and got up to leave.
After returning to his room, he teleported directly to the Nine Heavens.
In the First Layer of Heaven, he saw Miao Ruoruo. She had already learned about the incident from Mo Jiaolan and Chen Yuhe, and now seeing Ling Feng, she immediately approached and asked, "Fei’er is alright, isn’t she?"
"No worries, the father and daughter are having a heart-to-heart right now, and that woman wasn’t targeting her," Ling Feng said with a smile.
"Good, you scared me," Miao Ruoruo patted her chest in relief.
Ling Feng looked at her, "Stay here these couple of days. I can’t bear it if anything happens to any of you."
Miao Ruoruo nodded, "Okay."
Ling Feng turned his head to Mo Jiaolan, "Where’s Feng Ling?"
"Up there!"
Mo Jiaolan pointed upwards, and as Ling Feng followed her gesture, he found Feng Ling sitting on a huge branch of a walnut tree, lost in thought.
Ling Feng called out to her, and only then did she snap out of her daze, glancing down before climbing down from the tree.
"Did you need me for something?" she asked as she walked over.
"I want to ask you a few questions, come with me," Ling Feng said, and turned to walk away.
Seeing this, Feng Ling hesitated for a moment, biting her lip and casting a seeking glance at Mo Jiaolan.
"Don’t be afraid, Ling Feng won’t do anything to you. If there’s anything you don’t want to say, then don’t say it," Mo Jiaolan said softly.
Feng Ling nodded and turned to follow.
The two of them arrived at the Second Layer Heaven. Ling Feng’s pace didn’t stop as he headed straight for the pond in the forest. Feng Ling followed behind with her head lowered, her heart filled with unease, still unsure of what he wanted to talk to her about.
Once they got there, Ling Feng sat down on a rock. Looking at Feng Ling, who was silent, he smiled and said, "Okay, no need to look so pitiful. Sit down and let’s talk."
"What do you want to talk about?"
Feng Ling sat on a stone more than a meter away from him and asked cautiously.
"The Black Dragon Sect is mobilizing en masse and heading straight here. Do you have anything you want to say?" Ling Feng asked bluntly.
"I..."
A flash of astonishment crossed Feng Ling’s eyes, and after hesitating, she said, "I don’t know if you’ll believe me, but if they really are coming, it might not be for me!"
"Why?" Ling Feng asked.
"Although I’m the Saintess, I’m just an object of veneration created for the believers. I have no real significance to the Black Dragon Sect, and they have no reason to go to such lengths to come looking for me!" Feng Ling said.
"Isn’t there something special that requires your presence, like some sort of ceremony?" Ling Feng asked.
Feng Ling smiled and replied crisply, "No."
Ling Feng looked at her seriously, "Girl, I’ve never had any ill intentions toward you. Although you’ve lost your freedom here, everyone has treated you well, right?"
Feng Ling was questioned with a confused face, "Yes, what about it? I never said you mistreated me!"
"But you’re not cooperating, and that’s not very appreciative!"
Ling Feng smiled and continued, "Remember when I first caught you, the head of the local security bureau told me that you were of considerable value to the Black Dragon Sect, or else they wouldn’t have brought you back all the way and planned to trade you for Luo Nanlin!"
"And now you’re telling me that the Black Dragon Sect doesn’t care about your existence?"
Under Ling Feng’s skeptical gaze, Feng Ling looked dumbfounded.
Then she gave a wry smile and looked into Ling Feng’s eyes, "Is it that whatever I say now, you won’t believe?"
"Of course not!"
Ling Feng shook his head, "I’m just curious, and I hope you can clear up my confusion. Honestly, since you’ve been here, you’ve become almost invisible. But I remember very well that you’re actually a very clever girl with lots of little schemes, right?"
Feng Ling gave him a glance, "Is this a compliment?"
Ling Feng nodded slightly, "Sort of. After all, people usually get conned by me, and you’re the first one who’s managed to con me out of money!"
Thinking back to that incident with the tea baskets, Ling Feng still felt a bit sore about it!
If he had known he was going to bring Feng Ling back with him, he wouldn’t have been so quick to transfer the money to her. After all, she couldn’t spend it now!
When this matter was mentioned, Feng Ling’s eyes immediately turned into crescents, "I didn’t con you; those teas were really worth that much money!"
"You, a Saintess of the Black Dragon Sect, short of money? Nobody would believe that!" Ling Feng rolled his eyes!
"Ah!"
Feng Ling suddenly sighed, then said earnestly, "Since you don’t believe me, I don’t know how to explain it. In fact, if the people of the Black Dragon Sect really want to come here, wait a few more days, and everything will naturally become clear!"
Ling Feng nodded, "I know, but with formidable enemies ahead, even if we don’t know their purpose, we at least need to understand what they’ve got up their sleeves and what their weaknesses are, right?"
"Oh!"
Feng Ling showed a look of sudden realization, "I get it now, you’re trying to pry information out of me, aren’t you?"
