Chapter 534: Treasure Hunt in the Cave
Chapter 534: Treasure Hunt in the Cave
Ling Feng was rather busy that day.
Although Mo Jiaolan was helping with the food packaging factory establishment, he couldn’t just sit around idle; he was running back and forth assisting.
After finishing up here, they had to assemble the equipment in preparation for entering the Fourth Layer of the basin.
It wasn’t until evening that the group got everything sorted and were ready to commence a new round of exploration!
This time, their goal was that particular tree, and they would deal with anything else they encountered along the way. If nothing else cropped up, they were going to find out what was the deal with that tree.
However, unexpectedly, while descending along the rope, having slid down just over thirty meters, Ling Feng at the front suddenly stopped!
From above, Xun Qianqian, seeing him not sliding down anymore, asked in confusion, "What’s wrong?"
"There’s a cave entrance over there!"
Ling Feng pointed ahead and said.
Xun Qianqian paused, turned her head to look in that direction, but from her angle, she couldn’t see it very clearly, so she followed up with, "Is it a big cave?"
"Exactly, so big that even a train could go in and out without trouble. What do you think, could there be treasures inside?" Ling Feng looked up and asked.
"I think there might be, a cave suddenly appearing on this cliff is really strange!" Xun Qianqian nodded.
Ling Feng chuckled, "Then I’ll go take a look!"
With that, he pushed off with his legs, bouncing into mid-air, and then with another push, he headed straight for the cave entrance!
"Thump!"
As he landed, Ling Feng stuck his head out and shouted, "Remember to secure the rope at the entrance later, or it’ll be troublesome!"
"Got it, don’t rush, wait for us to catch up!"
Xun Qianqian knew he was eager to go in and take a look, so she quickly called out.
With no other choice, Ling Feng waited at the entrance.
When she arrived, she was clearly not as agile as him, so Ling Feng quickly extended his hand for a catch, ensuring her safe landing.
Afterward, Joanna and Miao Lanlan also reached the cave entrance, and the four of them curiously surveyed their surroundings. Seeing the marks of chiseling on the cave walls, they realized that the cave was not a natural formation!
"Who would leave a cave in a place like this?" Xun Qianqian, with widened eyes, asked.
"Whoever it was, they definitely didn’t want it to be found by others. Even if discovered, it would be very hard to climb up here!" Ling Feng said with a smile.
The reason for saying this was that the cliff was so steep that it would be extremely difficult to climb with just hands and feet.
"Let’s go, let’s see inside if there are any treasures!"
Ling Feng was animated with excitement, and even before entering the cave, he felt an intuition in his heart that there must be good things inside!
Fortunately, they had lighting equipment with them, so the four of them entered the cave with flashlights in hand. The deeper they went, the colder it seemed to get, eventually making them shiver.
Having walked nearly a hundred meters, Xun Qianqian suddenly said in a low voice, "What do you think, could this place lead to the lair of that giant octopus?"
Ling Feng was taken aback, his steps faltering momentarily, then he shook his head, "I don’t think so."
In truth, he didn’t have much of a clue himself, as this was an unknown territory. If the cave was very deep, it could indeed be at a similar location to where they had previously encountered the giant octopus.
The group continued to venture deeper, and after another hundred meters or so, the path ahead suddenly widened into a vast underground space.
As the beams of light illuminated the area, the surroundings became clear, and they all realized they had reached the end of the cave.
"What’s that over there!"
Xun Qianqian, with her sharp eyes, spotted something reflecting light under the flashlight and immediately called out.
Ling Feng and the others also noticed the reflection. He stepped over to take a look and then laughed, "Finally, it hasn’t been a wasted trip!"
"What is it?"
The three girls crowded over and bent down to look.
They discovered that the reflective object was none other than a top-quality Spirit Stone!
"We’ve finally found this thing again!"
Ling Feng was very happy, as for him, this was a consumable item; after all, everyone’s Teleportation consumed Spiritual Energy.
Even though the ones found in the Third Layer were enough to last for a very long time, who would complain about having too many of such things?
Crouching down, he found that the Spirit Stone was embedded in the stone, so Ling Feng took out his God Slayer Saber and dug a couple of times before the fist-sized Spirit Stone was dislodged.
After examining it in his palm, he happily stored the Spirit Stone into his Space Ring.
Looking back at the three girls standing there in a daze, Ling Feng asked in confusion, "What are you daydreaming for? Hurry up and collect them!"
"Ling Feng, look over there, it seems like there’s a person!"
Although Xun Qianqian was brave, her voice trembled at this moment, as if she was very scared.
Miao Lanlan and Joanna were the same, all being girls and being in this deep, dark cave, and what’s more, in Another World!
A combination of all these factors naturally made it a terrifying sight to stumble upon a human figure here.
Ling Feng turned his head to look and indeed saw something human-shaped in the dark, lying askew. He took his flashlight and walked over.
He was artificially mustering courage in front of the girls; being the only man, how could he show fear at a time like this?
On approaching, the bright light finally made the sight clear; it was indeed a person.
To be precise, it was a person who had died. Since there were no bacteria here, the body hadn’t decayed but had dried out into a mummy due to dehydration.
The purple-red flesh, shriveled from dehydration, made it impossible to make out the features clearly, but from an overall impression, it appeared to be a man.
He was wrapped in something that looked like a blanket. Crouching beside the body, Ling Feng mumbled to himself, "What’s the situation? What was this guy up to?"
Even though it was just a corpse, Xun Qianqian and the other two still didn’t dare to come close. Joanna even spoke up, "You know, just check it out yourself, we’ll help you look for Spirit Stones."
After speaking, the three of them quickly turned their heads away and stayed far from the corpse.
Ling Feng shook his head helplessly. Although he wasn’t knowledgeable in forensic science, he felt that this body must have a long history.
He wondered how many years had passed since this predecessor had entered the cave, perhaps to collect Spirit Stones or for some other reason, only to die here.
Thinking of this, he figured that meeting the deceased was a kind of fate. Since he had encountered him, he would help bury him.
So, he reached out his hand, planning to move the body to the entrance of the cave, so he could find a place to dig a grave and bury him after they left.
Unexpectedly, just as he touched the body, something slid out from under the blanket and fell to the ground with a clang.
Ling Feng was startled and reached out to pick it up, his eyes immediately revealing a look of surprise!
It was an ancient-looking Dagger, with a black tattered leather sheath, giving it a sense of weight and antiquity.
After drawing the Dagger, the blade, which was only about twenty centimeters in length, immediately emitted a flash of cold light!
