Chapter 507: The Aroma of Meat Is Everywhere
Chapter 507: The Aroma of Meat Is Everywhere
After returning home, Ling Feng didn’t ask for anyone’s help, but used the God Slayer Saber himself to process what he believed were octopus legs, and then tossed them into the pot.
Upon lighting the firewood and seeing everyone watching him, he couldn’t help but laugh and say, "What are you all doing? Don’t you dislike this stuff?"
"Dislike it, but want to see how you eat it!" Mo Jiaolan laughed.
Li Fei’er even kindly ran to the back and brought back a tube of green mustard, "Uncle, this is for you, it’s best with octopus legs!"
Seeing the mischievous smile in her eyes, Ling Feng knew that the girl was doing it on purpose, so he snorted and said, "Waiting to see me make a fool of myself, huh? Well, just wait!"
After speaking, he fiercely threw a few more logs into the stove.
Everyone was snickering at his indignant look, but as the water in the pot began to heat up, a peculiar fragrance started to waft out, and their laughter stopped.
The aroma grew stronger, indeed mixed with a scent of seafood, and now Li Fei’er kept quiet.
However, a thick smile was on Ling Feng’s face, as he became proud and turned to look at everyone, "Does anyone want to eat? If you want to eat, sign up!"
No one spoke.
Everyone had a conflicted look, curious as to what exactly it was and how it tasted, but also a bit incredulous, fearing it might be something strange.
It was like how some people are scared of insects but know that they must taste especially good when roasted; they end up feeling very conflicted, wanting to eat but afraid to do so.
As the water boiled, the rich aroma filled the entire house. Ling Feng lifted the lid to see sections of pinkish-white meat floating on the water, and just the smell could intoxicate anyone.
He used chopsticks to scoop them into a bowl and once again turned around, "Sure you don’t want to eat?"
Nearly everyone had the same expression, eyes gleaming, but they bit their lips and looked troubled.
Just then, the door was knocked on, and Li Fei’er went to open it, seeing the old Zhang from the convenience store, so she asked, "What’s up, Uncle Zhang?"
"What are you cooking at home that smells so good, my grandson is crying because he’s craving it!" Old Zhang asked.
Everyone: "..."
Ling Feng was also stunned, thought for a moment, picked up a piece of meat and bit off two mouthfuls. It melted in his mouth; the rich broth swirled on his tongue, amazingly delicious!
After tasting and ensuring that there was nothing dangerous about the food and that it was very delicious, he found a plastic bag, filled it with two pieces, and handed it to old Zhang, "This is a secret recipe octopus leg, take it home for the child to eat!"
"I was just asking, how could I accept this?" Old Zhang laughed awkwardly.
"Don’t be polite, if it was available for purchase, I wouldn’t give you any, but since it’s not, we can’t let the kid cry for it, right?" Ling Feng laughed.
Old Zhang nodded, "Alright then, thanks a lot!"
After finishing speaking, he turned and walked home, muttering to himself, "I’ve been eating their stuff every day this year!"
Originally, Ling Feng had cut off more than a meter and divided it into seven pieces to put in the pot. Now after giving away two pieces and holding one, there remained four pieces in the bowl.
As Ling Feng turned around, just about to say something, he saw Li Fei’er rush forward unable to restrain herself, and grabbed the largest piece. She sniffed it under her nose and immediately showed an ecstatic expression.
"Worms or not, as long as it’s delicious!" After speaking, she closed her eyes and took a big bite.
Then her eyes widened, showing a look of surprise, "Delicious!"
"Sister, I want to eat too..."
Qiao Anran had already been drooling with craving. At this moment, she began to act coy, hugging Qiao Anna’s leg.
The other young girls looked at each other, hesitant. Even if they wanted to eat at this point, they couldn’t very well compete with a child, could they? So no one spoke.
"Let the children eat. There should be more in the Fourth Layer, right, Ling Feng?" Zhang Lan asked.
"Correct, just wait. I’ll go get more!"
Ling Feng chuckled, and in an instant, he teleported to the Nine Heavens.
A few minutes later, he came back, beaming, carrying a huge octopus leg.
"Wow, so much!"
Everyone was stunned, the large piece weighed at least two hundred pounds!
"This is just the tip of the iceberg, there’s still over a thousand pounds left, let’s cook these first. I’m worried that later others might come asking what we’re cooking and then there might not be enough to go around!" Ling Feng said with a laugh.
Hearing this, everyone realized he had a point, so they all got to work, rolling up their sleeves and getting busy with the preparation.
Half an hour later, the two big pots that had been used for stewing meat were now emitting a rich fragrance!
The girls, throwing caution to the wind, started to tuck in enthusiastically, grabbing and holding big pieces, some dipping in soy sauce, some in horseradish, each to their own taste.
"Uncle, there must be some really good stuff inside the Fourth Layer. We’ve barely gotten inside and already got such a huge surprise!" Li Fei’er said while eating.
"That’s right, what I need most right now are Spirit Stones and alchemy materials. I’m sure there are plenty inside!"
Ling Feng nodded and then added, "It’s just that this octopus leg is a bit annoying. We might encounter even more troublesome creatures later, and exploring might become quite exhausting!"
"Then let Qian Qian and the others hurry up and improve their strength so they can help you out later!" Li Fei’er suggested.
Upon hearing this, Ling Feng looked up. Aside from Xun Qianqian, the rest of them, Mo Jiaolan was focused on her business and not much interested in cultivation.
Chen Yuhe was planning to return after the New Year to take over the Chen’s Mining Industry.
Huaihua would go to the provincial city for school soon, so she was out of the running.
Lin Xue was out of the question too, as she worked for the security bureau and couldn’t spend all her time in the Nine Heavens.
Miao Lanlan was a possibility, since she didn’t have much going on in Wanshou County anymore and could stay here with him in the long term.
Li Yumei had her hands full taking care of Ya Ya and Chen Yuhe’s brother and naturally wouldn’t have the time.
Zhang Lan and Li Yun were currently cleaning up the Luo Family’s mess and wouldn’t be free for months, plus they weren’t interested in cultivating either.
As for Joanna...
Upon seeing her, Ling Feng couldn’t help but ask, "Anna, what are your plans after the New Year?"
"Me? I’m staying here!" Joanna responded.
"Huh?"
Ling Feng was about to take a bite of meat when he looked up, puzzled, "Staying with me here?"
"Yes, didn’t my cousin tell you?" Joanna asked.
Ling Feng was dumbfounded and tried to recall, but couldn’t remember Zhou Yi mentioning it, so he asked, "No, what does she have to do with it?"
"She can’t come back for a while, so she asked me to take over for her temporarily!" Joanna explained.
"Ah, take over for her, what does that mean?" Ling Feng inquired.
A mischievous glint shone in Joanna’s eyes, "One thing is to take care of Huaihua, and the second is to look after the house."
Taking care of Huaihua made sense, Zhou Yi genuinely liked her; it wasn’t just because of Shiliu Village that she was interested.
So she had already mentioned that she would take care of Huaihua’s school fees, living expenses, and future job arrangements.
Now that she was away on business, she had entrusted these responsibilities to Joanna.
But this second point about looking after the house seemed far-fetched to Ling Feng, so he remarked, "Looking after the house and you have to specifically do it? Don’t joke!"
Joanna rolled her eyes, "Believe it or not, before my cousin comes back, I won’t be leaving Shiliu Village!"
