Chapter 504: Just Asking for a Drunk
Chapter 504: Just Asking for a Drunk
Ling Feng forced a bitter smile and said, "I wasn’t talking to you, why would you get so cheesy?"
"Can’t the messenger feel something?" Zhou Yi asked.
"Regardless, I still thank you!" Ling Feng said seriously.
"All right, save the thanks for when you come back! You should head back, I’m leaving now," Zhou Yi said.
"Then how soon can you return, can you give me a time?" Ling Feng asked, not giving up hope.
Zhou Yi bit her lip, "I don’t know either, maybe three to six months, or maybe a year."
"..."
The tiny flame that had nearly extinguished in his heart flared up again!
Ling Feng’s eyes reddened a bit, and he clenched his teeth as he asked, "What is it that’s so important, why is it taking so long!"
"Don’t be like this, when it’s time for you to know, you’ll naturally be told. This isn’t about trust. There are deep secrets involved, and revealing them would be bad not only for you but also for Li Shiyun!"
Seeing his urgency, Zhou Yi broke from her usual demeanor and tenderly explained.
"So all I can do is wait?" Ling Feng asked.
"Yes, but rest assured, I promise to bring her back to you safe and sound!" Zhou Yi said.
Ling Feng gazed at her intently, and after a while, he reached out and grasped her hand, "Then I’m entrusting her to you!"
The two had shared intimate moments before, but this time, Zhou Yi’s heart suddenly began to race, and she quickly withdrew her hand, "Don’t worry, I’m off!"
With things said and done, Ling Feng couldn’t justify lingering in the car any longer, so he nodded, took a deep look at her, and got out of the car.
As Zhou Yi drove away, Ling Feng watched until she was out of sight, then stood there, dazed, for a while!
He felt a wave of melancholy and indefinable discomfort in his heart.
Turning to go back to his room, he heard the sound of clinking glasses inside, and as Ling Feng entered, he was speechless!
He had asked Li Fei’er to come over and persuade the two elders to stop drinking endlessly, but what happened? This girl was now sitting at the table, drinking with them!
It was then that Ling Feng remembered how, back in Shahe Village, she had been drinking with Chu Nan!
Thinking of this, Ling Feng almost slapped himself. How could he have forgotten that!
But it was too late for regrets now because Li Fei’er was already flushed from drinking!
She wasn’t much of a drinker to begin with, and by the looks of it, she had downed at least three or four hundred milliliters.
Ling Feng felt frustrated and shot a glance at the giggling Li Fei’er, then sat beside her, "Pour me a glass too!"
"Sure, uncle," she said.
Li Fei’er, clearly tipsy, chuckled as she picked up the bottle to pour, but as she wobbled, the bottle turned out to be empty.
"Hold on, there’s still a case outside!"
As she said this, she staggered to her feet, intending to get more wine.
Ling Feng hurriedly stopped her, "Forget it, you might fall. I’ll go get it."
When he went outside, he saw that out of a case of six bottles, only two remained.
"Can they really drink this much?"
Ling Feng shook his head in disbelief and decided to take both remaining bottles inside.
"Kid, didn’t you just say you wouldn’t drink?" Wang Laogen asked.
Looking at his flushed cheeks, Ling Feng forced a smile and replied, "I didn’t want to just now, but now I do. None of you should compete with me for this bottle; it’s all mine!"
After saying that, he filled his glass to the brim, tilted his head back, and downed it, then yelled, "What fine liquor!"
With a single exclamation of appreciation, he startled the three of them, and Li Fei’er even rolled her eyes at him, "Uncle, can you not be so dramatic!"
"But it is fine liquor indeed!"
Ling Feng laughed softly, poured himself another glass, and once more drank it down in one gulp.
Drowning his sorrows in alcohol, he now felt an oppressive gloom that seemed inescapable, so he wanted nothing more than to drink himself into oblivion and forget all his worries!
Wang Laogen and Chu Nan exchanged a look, both sensing something; however, neither of them said a word. Instead, Chu Nan spoke up, "Don’t just drink by yourself, you little rascal. Don’t you know how to respect your elders? You haven’t even offered a toast yet!"
"Alright, I’ll toast to the teacher!" Ling Feng picked up his glass, stood up, and drained it in one go.
"Teacher? What teacher?"
Wang Laogen was taken aback, glancing at him and then at Chu Nan.
"It’s Ling Feng’s respectful term for me!" Chu Nan said proudly.
"Come on, why does he call you ’teacher’ but calls me ’old Wang’?"
Wang Laogen immediately felt displeased and picked up his glass, saying, "No way, Ling Feng, you owe me an explanation!"
"Heh heh, it’s all in the wine!"
Ling Feng chuckled and downed another glass.
These were two-liang glasses, and after guzzling four in a row, nearly a whole bottle was gone.
A warm sensation spread from his stomach to his limbs, making Ling Feng suddenly feel light as a feather, as if gravity no longer had much hold on him.
Despite that, he still filled his glass with a wide grin, raising it to say, "Come on, come on, nobody’s leaving until we’re all drunk tonight!"
Seeing that his tongue was getting heavy, Chu Nan laughed, "You were just fine a moment ago, how come you’re like this all of a sudden?"
"It’s a long story, a very long story, teacher!"
Ling Feng’s eyes were bleary with drunkenness as he drained his glass and cried out indignantly.
"Uncle, are, are you upset about something?" Li Fei’er, also tipsy, asked with a stammer.
"I’m fine, let’s drink!"
Chu Nan and Wang Laogen looked at each other, exchanging glances and simultaneously lifting their glasses, "Alright, let’s drink! No leaving until we’re plastered!"
...
...
When Ling Feng woke up, he found himself in darkness, with a petite body snuggled in his arms, soft and tender.
Once his eyes adjusted to the dark, he realized he was in the inner room, lying on a bed, with Li Fei’er in his arms.
The little lady was sleeping soundly, her face still flushed with the aftereffects of alcohol.
Ling Feng carefully got up to sit at the edge of the bed, scratching his head as he tried to remember the drinking spree.
"How much did I drink?"
After a rueful chuckle, he looked at the time and saw it was already nine o’clock at night.
He had slept for at least five hours.
It was only because of his constitution; anyone else probably wouldn’t have woken up until the next morning.
Seeing that the room had already been tidied up, Ling Feng knew it must have been Mo Jiaolan and the others. He sighed and said to himself, "They’re sure to tease me about this tomorrow."
After sitting for a few minutes and feeling much clearer in the head, Ling Feng stood up and glanced out the window.
He saw that Chu Nan’s SUV was still there, with the lights on, wondering what the old man was up to.
He stepped outside and headed towards the vehicle. Just as he approached, he noticed a barbecue grill nearby, its coals still warm, the air faintly carrying the scent of cumin.
"What in the world?"
Ling Feng scratched his head and pulled open the car door.
And there he saw Chu Nan and Wang Laogen sitting opposite each other, chomping on kebabs!
Their eyes met, and Ling Feng couldn’t help but tease, "I don’t believe it, you two started a private feast without me!"
"You woke up surprisingly quickly, kiddo. Hurry up and get in the car, and close the door; the cold air’s getting in!" Chu Nan laughed.
Ling Feng got in the car, looking from one to the other, "You both drank more than me; how come you’re both fine?"
