Chapter 467: Take You to Meet Someone
Chapter 467: Take You to Meet Someone
Ling Feng was taken aback.
It was Joanna’s invitation that brought him here, and although she had never admitted it, Ling Feng had always believed the Qiao Family needed something from him.
Now, hearing Qiao Jinsong ask such a question, he found himself at a loss for words.
Handing him a cup of coffee, Qiao Jinsong smiled and said, "After Anna comes down and we’ve had breakfast, Mr. Ling can take a stroll around Qiao Family Town to see the local customs and culture. If you’re in a hurry to get home, you can leave tomorrow!"
Ling Feng: "..."
It seemed he had indeed misunderstood. He could only smile and say, "Well then, I’ll try to stay a few more days if I can."
As they were talking, Joanna walked into the dining room. Ling Feng turned around to look, and was immediately stunned!
Her outfit today was completely different from before, wearing a white long dress paired with her golden hair, she looked like a character from a Western painting, stunningly beautiful!
It wasn’t just him, Li Fei’er also looked on with a face full of surprise and quickly stood up, saying, "Sister Anna, you look so beautiful today!"
"Thank you, Fei’er, you’re so sweet!" Joanna said with a smile.
As she said this, her gaze was on Ling Feng, seeing him staring intently at her, she suddenly felt a sweet warmth inside.
After breakfast, Qiao Jinsong spoke up, "You young people go out and have fun; I won’t be joining you."
"All right, Uncle Qiao, please do as you wish!" Ling Feng said.
After he had left, Ling Feng turned to Joanna: "Did you invite me here just to be a guest?"
"Yes, what else did you think?" Joanna replied with a sly smile.
Ling Feng scratched his head: "Then why were you in such a hurry, saying there was something urgent at home, making me overthink!"
"Why think so much?"
Joanna rolled her eyes at him and looked back at Li Fei’er: "Fei’er, shall I take you to town to have fun today?"
"Sure, what’s good to eat and fun to play with here?" Li Fei’er clapped her hands and asked.
"The tasty things are all at my house, and there’s also a strange old man in town; sister, you better not go!" During the meal, Qiao Anran and Li Fei’er had become close as if they were real sisters, and at this point, she was holding her arm and speaking.
"Strange old man?"
Li Fei’er was taken aback and raised her head to look at Joanna.
"He’s one of my family elders, also a member of the Qiao Family, just that his appearance is quite unique, so Anran has always been afraid of him," Joanna explained.
Hearing this, Li Fei’er laughed and said to Qiao Anran, "Little sister, don’t be afraid, with big sister here, no one will dare to bully you!"
"Yes, big sister is the best!"
Joanna rolled her eyes: "You girl, you’ve got Fei’er now and you don’t acknowledge me as your real sister anymore?"
Qiao Anran looked innocent: "Aren’t you busy dating Brother Ling Feng? I don’t want to disturb you!"
"You..."
Joanna’s face turned red, and she was left speechless.
"Alright, didn’t we say we’re going out for a stroll? It was dark when I arrived yesterday, and I still don’t know what Qiao Family Town looks like!" Ling Feng said with a laugh.
His words lightened the previous awkwardness, and Joanna immediately nodded, "Okay, then let’s go!"
The group of four stepped out, and standing at the entrance of the Qiao Family’s courtyard, they could directly see the entire layout of the small town, with over a hundred households scattered around. The architecture was entirely in the style of Jiangnan water towns, which gave it a very special charm.
"Is everyone in town surnamed Qiao?" Ling Feng asked as they walked.
"Pretty much, there are also a few outsiders, but not many; the town is mainly composed of Qiao Family members," Joanna answered.
Ling Feng uttered an acknowledgment and admired the scenery while thinking to himself that the mountains and rivers here were even better than those in Shiliu Village, but after all, it was not his home—it was good enough just to take a look.
Since he was told there was nothing urgent and they needed his help, he decided to treat it like a vacation.
The main road in the town was paved with cement, but the alleys were lined with cobblestone paths. The sky looked somewhat overcast, and Joanna looked up at the sky, "It seems like it’s going to rain!"
"Sister, I’ll go get umbrellas!"
Hearing her say this, Qiao Anran instantly bounced off and ran to a shop by the street, standing at the doorway and calling out in her childlike voice, "Aunt Tao, Aunt Tao, lend us three umbrellas!"
"Coming!"
Accompanying the response, a middle-aged woman emerged from inside, asking with a smile, "Anran, what brought you out to play today?"
"Accompanying my sister and her..."
She hadn’t finished her sentence when Joanna rushed over and covered her mouth, then looked up to Aunt Tao and said, "Don’t listen to her nonsense; just showing a friend around."
"Oh, the young man looks nice!"
Aunt Tao seemed to understand something, glanced at Ling Feng with a smile, and commented.
Joanna’s face reddened again, and she couldn’t find the words to explain. She hastily grabbed the umbrellas and hurried back!
"Anran, if you keep talking nonsense, I won’t take you with me. I’ll let Fei’er take you home!"
"Then I won’t say it!"
Qiao Anran pouted, rolling her big eyes exaggeratedly.
Joanna sighed softly and said to Ling Feng, "Never mind, I won’t hide it from you anymore. Come with me, I’ll take you to meet someone!"
After saying that, she opened the umbrella and started walking down the alley.
Ling Feng chuckled wryly and followed, but as he watched her receding figure, he felt an inexplicable pang in his heart!
The cobblestone path, the oil-paper umbrella, and the beauty in a flowing white dress, this scene seemed like a beautiful painting, and he was somewhat mesmerized!
"Hey, Mister, what are you daydreaming about?" Li Fei’er asked.
Ling Feng snapped out of his trance and replied with a wry smile, "Nothing, what’s that scent? It’s really nice."
"It’s the fragrance of osmanthus. Aunt Tao makes osmanthus cakes, so everything in her shop has this scent!" Qiao Anran answered first.
Ling Feng made a sound of understanding and glanced once more at Joanna’s figure, etching the scene deeply into his mind, feeling he would never forget it for the rest of his life.
The two had known each other for some time, and there hadn’t been much between them previously, but in these southern alleys, his heart suddenly stirred.
They continued along the alley, and soon Joanna stopped in front of a house. Seeing this, Qiao Anran immediately stopped and began pleading in a tearful voice, "Sister, I was wrong, okay? Why do you have to take me to his place?"
"Silly girl, it’s not you I’m taking, it’s Ling Feng. It’s alright if you don’t come, really, you’re already eight years old yet still act like a little child!" Joanna gave her a look.
Upon hearing this, Ling Feng knew this must be the old eccentric’s home and curiously asked, "Why have you brought me here?"
"Uncle Sanshui here has some nice things. I want to see if there’s any fate between you two; maybe he’ll give you something!" Joanna said with a light laugh.
"What nice things?"
Ling Feng was even more puzzled.
"Now that we’re here, I might as well tell you, he has Mithril!" Joanna said with a smile, speaking softly.
"What?"
Ling Feng felt as if struck by lightning, freezing on the spot!
Mithril was precisely what he had been eagerly searching for; he thought such a thing did not exist in the world, yet to his surprise, Joanna suddenly offered such an astonishing revelation!
