Chapter 442 Come to the Meeting!
Chapter 442 Come to the Meeting!
Chu Nan’s jaw nearly dropped!
He sat there, completely frozen, his mind a blank slate.
Now it was Ling Feng’s turn to snap him out of it, waving a hand in front of him, "Hey, teacher, wake up, don’t be silly!"
Chu Nan came to his senses and after letting out a wry laugh, he looked at Ling Feng and said, "Kid, don’t fool me, didn’t you run out of Spirit Stones?"
"Huh?"
Ling Feng was startled, "You know about that?"
"Hehe, I still have my sources for that kind of news, so don’t think you can bamboozle me!" Chu Nan said with a sly grin, reaching out to take the Alchemy Furnace back.
Ling Feng, of course, refused to let go, hugging it tightly as he said, "I’m not fooling you, I really do have Spirit Stones, for real!"
"I don’t believe you!"
Chu Nan reached out and tugged hard, Ling Feng wouldn’t let go, and the old and the young began a tug-of-war inside the car.
Li Fei’er rolled her eyes from the side. The combined age of these two was nearly a hundred, so why were they acting so childish?
She hurriedly said, "Grandpa Chu, my uncle really isn’t lying to you, he still has more than ten top-grade Spirit Stones!"
"What?"
Chu Nan, upon hearing this, let go, causing Ling Feng to stagger. He then looked straight at Li Fei’er, without even glancing at Ling Feng, and demanded, "Are you serious?"
"Of course I’m serious, would I lie to you?" Li Fei’er pouted helplessly.
With her guarantee, Chu Nan chose to believe her, so he turned to Ling Feng, "Kid, just how many secrets are you hiding?"
"Hehe, doesn’t everyone have their secrets? Teacher, just tell me, one top-grade Spirit Stone for this item, will that do?" Ling Feng said with a laugh.
Chu Nan’s eyes swiveled, "You clearly said two earlier!"
"What do you need so many for? This item is a hot potato, having too many will only bring you trouble!" Ling Feng argued.
"That’s my business, and besides, you have more than ten, so what’s wrong with wanting two?" Chu Nan argued back.
Ling Feng was speechless, shaking his head as he gave in, "Alright, alright, my fault for running my mouth, two it is, then!"
"Deal!"
Chu Nan’s face bloomed into a smile when he heard those words.
No sooner had he finished speaking than a flash of light came from Ling Feng’s hand, and the Alchemy Furnace vanished, transported into the Ring Space.
"Damn it!"
Chu Nan was taken aback and cursed involuntarily, drawing an immediate scolding from Li Fei’er, "Grandpa Chu, what are you saying!"
"Sorry, girl," Chu Nan apologized to Li Fei’er, then with eyes as wide as eggs, he loudly asked Ling Feng, "What did you do with the item just now?"
"I just did a magic trick, why the fuss?"
Ling Feng rolled his eyes and stepped out of the car.
Chu Nan’s eyes were still round with astonishment as he turned to Li Fei’er, but she immediately shrugged, "Don’t ask me, I have no idea!"
"You crafty girl, you’re still closer to your uncle!"
Chu Nan rolled his eyes, knowing that even if she did know, she wouldn’t tell him, so he could only resignedly mutter a complaint.
Li Fei’er giggled and followed Ling Feng out of the car, catching up to him she asked, "Uncle, why do you care so much about that thing?"
"Because it’s a treasure, it will play a big role in my next steps. Just you wait and see!" Ling Feng said, beaming with joy.
As he spoke, he walked towards the village. Li Fei’er followed behind him with an expression that clearly said she had no words, "Uncle, you’re not going back home now, are you? Is everything settled? Is it completely over?"
Her words reminded Ling Feng, and he paused mid-step before slapping his forehead, "Look at me, I got so happy I forgot everything!"
Li Fei’er was speechless, showing a look of frustration, "What are you going to do? You really don’t let people worry less!"
Ling Feng: "..."
If it were someone else, he might have accepted these words, but coming from a little girl like her, they sounded somewhat strange, as if she were acting like a little adult.
Ling Feng had always treated her like a child, though Li Fei’er was about to turn sixteen and was already considered an adult.
The two of them chatted as they returned to Chu Nan’s SUV, after which Ling Feng asked, "Teacher, what do we do next?"
"What else can we do? We got the item, and I’m planning to head back, but we can’t leave now, can we?" Chu Nan asked him with a half-smile.
"Hmm, I need to call the higher-ups to ask about the situation," Ling Feng nodded.
But before he could make the call, Chen Ping had already taken the initiative to contact him!
"Did you find the item?"
Ling Feng nodded with a smile, "Yes, Director Chen, although there was a little hiccup, we still got it in our hands!"
"Good, you all head to Longyuan for a meeting!" Chen Ping said.
"Boss, it’s just a broken pot and a Peach Wood Sword. These things aren’t valuable, is that really necessary?" Ling Feng asked.
Chen Ping’s voice rose by an octave, "Am I the one calling the shots here? Hurry up and come over, no more dawdling!"
After saying that, he hung up the phone, leaving Ling Feng with a bitter smile, helplessly shaking his head.
"Let’s go, they want us to attend a meeting. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves; it’s still not certain whether today’s finds will belong to us or not."
Chu Nan sighed, a look of resignation on his face, and instructed the driver, "Drive, to Longyuan!"
Ling Feng was surprised, "What, have you been there before?"
"Of course, I’ve been there. I even know Chen Ping, is that strange?" Chu Nan glanced at him.
"Eh, not strange at all. A remarkable person like you, teacher, can surely do anything!" Ling Feng said cheerfully.
"Stop it, your flattery is so poor, there’s no feeling to it at all!"
Amidst their banter, the SUV left Shahe Village and half an hour later arrived at the gates of Longyuan.
Ling Feng got out of the car and saw Li Fei’er anxiously looking at him. He thought for a moment then said, "You get out too. It should be fine for a kid, but if my boss says no, you’ll have to go back and wait in the car!"
"Okay!"
Li Fei’er immediately smiled brightly and hurried out of the car.
The three of them entered the courtyard together. Sure enough, Chen Ping only gave Li Fei’er a glance and didn’t say anything. He then addressed Chu Nan, "Mr. Chu, please come with me."
The group went into the basement and arrived in the same room where they had held a video conference last time. As Ling Feng entered, he saw two people on the screen: one was the Head of the Bureau, Han Wanping, and the other, unexpectedly, was the Deputy Head of the Demon Capital branch, Zhang He!
Seeing him, Ling Feng was momentarily stunned, but he quickly greeted him very politely on the surface.
"Ling Feng, I’ve heard about what happened today. You were lucky that the item wasn’t stolen!" Han Wancheng said.
"Yes, I now feel very fortunate as well."
After saying this, Ling Feng flipped his wrist, and the Alchemy Furnace reappeared in his hand before he placed it on the table. He then continued, "This is one of the items, the other is with Mr. Chu."
