Chapter 410 Wang Laogen’s Request
Chapter 410 Wang Laogen’s Request
While the three of them were talking, Wang Laogen had already prepared the fish. Joanna stood up to fetch some firewood, and Ling Feng was in charge of starting the fire, getting ready to cook.
As he worked, Ling Feng looked up at Wang Laogen, "Have you told me everything about your identity this time? There’s nothing else hidden, right?"
"What else do you want to know? Do you want me to tell you my resume?" Wang Laogen gave him a disdainful glance.
Ling Feng chuckled, "That won’t be necessary, who asked you to be so mysterious?"
Wang Laogen’s eyes widened, "I’ll let you know what you need to know. Why are you so curious? Haven’t you heard that curiosity killed the cat?"
"Alright, I won’t ask anymore. Is that okay now?"
Ling Feng smiled. Since the Spirit Stone was in the hands of one of their own, he could put the matter to rest and didn’t need to worry about it anymore.
As the clay stove heated up, Wang Laogen started to get busy. Two fish were put into the pot and immediately sizzled, followed by a delicious fragrance that filled the room.
Joanna, with a look of bliss, exclaimed, "That smells so good!"
"How long has it been since you last had meat?"
Although Ling Feng also thought it smelled great, he couldn’t help teasing her.
"Hmph, just wait until you taste my master’s cooking; ordinary people couldn’t even dream of having it!" Joanna rolled her eyes at him.
After a while, the fragrance became even more intense, as a steaming dish of braised fish was ready.
In the modest surroundings, the three of them sat around a broken wooden table. Joanna seemed unable to wait any longer, biting on her chopsticks and eagerly looking at Wang Laogen, just waiting for him to give the signal.
Ling Feng found it amusing to himself, thinking it’s just fish, how good can it be?
Noticing his disciple’s anticipation, Wang Laogen let out a chuckle and said, "All you think about is eating, where’s my wine?"
"Ah, I forgot! I’ll get it right now!"
Joanna stuck out her tongue and dashed out of the house, seemingly heading to the vehicle to fetch the wine.
Ling Feng looked at Wang Laogen, and as they made eye contact, he couldn’t resist asking, "So, since you manage this organization, does that mean your military rank is pretty high?"
"Heh, I know what you’re thinking. My rank is certainly higher than yours. You’d better watch how you behave around me from now on. Don’t be so informal!" Wang Laogen said with a smug smile.
"I don’t believe it; I’m a lieutenant colonel!" Ling Feng felt his smugness was slightly deceitful, and he glared back.
"Don’t believe it if you don’t want to. When you have the time, go and ask Old Han at the headquarters, Han Wancheng; he’ll tell you!" Wang Laogen rolled his eyes.
Han Wancheng!
Upon hearing this name, Ling Feng’s mind stirred. He had seen the director of the headquarters through a video call last time. From the sound of it, Wang Laogen seemed pretty familiar with him!
Now convinced, he chose to stay silent and reached out with his chopsticks to try some of the fish.
Wang Laogen coughed, "I advise you not to do that, or Anna won’t let you off the hook!"
"What?"
Ling Feng was taken aback, not understanding what that meant. Just then, Joanna walked in, and seeing his chopsticks hovering over the braised fish, she exploded whether he had tasted it yet or not, "Ling Feng, what are you doing!"
"I’m not doing anything! I just wanted to try it and see how it tastes!" Ling Feng said, feigning innocence.
"No way, I haven’t had a taste yet!"
Anna stamped her foot and walked over quickly.
"Fine, you eat first then!"
Ling Feng was speechless; he hadn’t expected the girl to be so protective of her food. What difference did it make who ate first?
Joanna sat down, picked up a piece of fish, placed it in her mouth, and then her face lit up with delight. "Delicious!"
"Can I eat now?" Ling Feng asked, watching her.
"Go ahead, no one’s stopping you!" Joanna rolled her eyes.
Ling Feng: "..."
Wang Laogen smiled without saying a word, lifted his cup of liquor, took a sip, and smacked his lips with satisfaction, "Great wine!"
"You guys are really something!"
Ling Feng looked outraged and aggressively grabbed a big piece of fish, putting it in his mouth, then immediately his eyes widened!
"How is it? Tasty, isn’t it? Be careful not to swallow your tongue!" Joanna said with a mischievous smile.
Ling Feng had no time to mind her. After chewing and swallowing two bites, he immediately reached for the second helping with his chopsticks.
"No rush, there’s plenty for you all!" Wang Laogen said with a laugh upon seeing this.
"Hey, Old Wang, how did you make this fish? Can you teach me? I want to make it for everyone when I get back!" Ling Feng asked between gulps of food.
"Hehe!"
Wang Laogen seemed to have been waiting for just this question and chuckled slyly before saying, "Want to learn? I can teach you, but there’s a condition!"
"What condition?" Ling Feng asked, lifting his head.
"Don’t you have two Spirit Stones on you? How about giving me one? It’s a fair deal, I’ll give you the smaller one from Luther!" Wang Laogen proposed.
Ling Feng was startled, his hand movements suddenly stopped, and then he laughed slyly, "I think I’m full."
Wang Laogen: "..."
Joanna said nothing, her big eyes rolling around, sneakily giggling as she watched the two of them.
"Kid, playing tricks on me, eh? Tell me, what do you want for a Spirit Stone?" Wang Laogen asked, clearly irritated.
Ling Feng smiled slightly, "If I didn’t know I had Spirit Stones, would you still have not planned to reveal your identity to me?"
"Yes! Because you weren’t qualified yet!" Wang Laogen nodded emphatically.
"Then, is that Teleportation Array in Luther’s machine your handiwork?" Ling Feng continued to ask.
"Correct, I also did that!" Wang Laogen continued nodding.
Ling Feng smiled, "If I want to learn how to draw that Teleportation Array, will you teach me?"
"This..."
Wang Laogen suddenly hesitated.
After thinking it over, he couldn’t help but ask, "Why do you want to learn that?"
"When it’s time for you to know, you’ll naturally find out!" Ling Feng parroted back the same words!
Wang Laogen was speechless and shook his head, "I can teach it to you, but it’s not something to use lightly. It requires special materials to assist. Otherwise, at most, you can teleport something the size of an egg, and the teleportation distance can’t exceed one hundred meters."
"What materials?"
Ling Feng hadn’t expected there to be so many restrictions, which were completely different from what he had imagined.
He had thought that as long as he learned the Teleportation Array, he could set one up in the Nine Heavens and then be able to teleport there anytime he wanted.
Things are never that easy.
Wang Laogen then said with a wry smile, "Some things you already have, but the hardest to find right now is Mithril. If you have that, not just teleporting a living person, even a car or an airplane would be possible!"
"Holy crap, is it that powerful? What in the world is Mithril, and where can I find it?" Ling Feng said, nearly standing up in excitement.
However, Wang Laogen just gave him a look, "Why so excited? If I knew where to find it, would I say it’s hard to find?"
"As long as it exists, right? As long as it’s in this world, that’s good enough!"
Ling Feng was not discouraged at all; instead, he became even more spirited.
Wang Laogen looked at him, "So, you’re saying you’ll give me a Spirit Stone then?"
