From start to finish, Ling Feng was a bit dazed, drinking a whole glass of draft beer.
And the fat man who invited him didn’t say much more, paid for Ling Feng’s drink, and went off to chat with others.
At this point, Ling Feng had already mastered the language and could communicate with them fluently. He turned to the available bartender and asked, "Excuse me, I’m from out of town and just arrived today. Why did that person buy me a drink?"
"You may not know, sir, but everyone here in the bar is from the local neighborhood. There’s always been a tradition of hospitality, and every visitor has a deep impression of this place!" the bartender explained.
"Alright, it’s certainly memorable."
Ling Feng nodded, thinking he was being targeted as soon as he arrived, but realized it was just a misunderstanding!
After a laugh, he said to the bartender, "Even if they’re very hospitable, I’m not stingy either. How about this, I’ll cover everyone’s expenses today."
Then he took out a stack of US Dollars and placed it on the table.
Although US Dollars don’t circulate in this country, they’re a universal currency. So seeing about a thousand US Dollars deposited, the bartender’s eyes lit up instantly, and he beamed with joy!
He was about to announce this to everyone when Ling Feng quickly gestured, "Wait, tell them after I’ve left. I don’t want to cause unnecessary trouble."
"Okay, then I’ll thank you on behalf of everyone!" The bartender nodded respectfully.
Recollecting the beer he had just drank, Ling Feng felt quite pleased; being treated by strangers was indeed quite enjoyable!
He then quietly left the bar. After walking away, he could hear cheers erupting from inside.
Ling Feng smiled as his Divine Sense unfolded.
The target location was a nondescript six-story building, which appeared at least several decades old, still a brick and concrete structure, with visible marks of red brick construction outside.
But inside, the decor was completely different, thoroughly modern.
Through Divine Sense, Hans was sitting in the office, holding a document, his face calm as ever.
He must have long known what happened at the fortress, yet remained calm, which surprised Ling Feng.
The fortress incident seemed as though it never occurred. Both here and in America, no one raised a stir.
Ling Feng couldn’t understand why, but he believed once he captured Hans, his doubts would be resolved.
Strolling down the street, Ling Feng headed towards the building, finding it odd that such an important figure like Hans only had two bodyguards, seemingly a bit careless.
The two bodyguards sat outside the office, sipping coffee and chatting, utterly unaware of the impending danger.
Ling Feng thought, with such an environment, capturing Hans should be a piece of cake. He couldn’t comprehend why Yao had foreseen complications.
Reaching the building’s ground floor, he saw two elder men in security uniforms. Ling Feng ignored them completely and leaped to the rooftop.
He quickly descended from the fire escape to the fifth floor where Hans was.
Activating Mind Soul Art, the two bodyguards fell silently to the ground, unable to move.
Ling Feng approached Hans’s office door directly.
So far, everything had gone very smoothly.
But just as he was about to open the door, an alert suddenly welled up inside Ling Feng!
Through Divine Sense, Hans unexpectedly raised his head, staring straight at the door, seemingly waiting for him to enter!
"What’s going on?"
Ling Feng’s heart skipped, realizing something was wrong!
What seemed smooth now appeared to be a trap!
But having come this far, even if it was a trap, he was already in. Hesitating and retreating wasn’t Ling Feng’s style!
So, stretching out his hand to push the office door, Ling Feng stepped inside and asked, "Did you know I was coming?"
"No."
Hans shook his head, then said, "But since you reached the rooftop, I knew."
"Oh?"
Ling Feng looked at him, seeing he was calm, indicating he must have something planned, so he asked, "Since you knew, you’re not nervous?"
"Nothing to be nervous about; I don’t know why you’re here or what you want to do to me, so why should I be nervous?"
Hans smiled, then gestured to a chair, "Care to sit and chat?"
"No need!"
Ling Feng squinted his eyes, "If you have anything prepared, it’s best to show it now; otherwise, you won’t have a chance later!"
"Really?"
Hans smirked, then leaned back, hands behind his head, looking unconcerned: "Go ahead; I want to see what you can do!"
"Alright!"
Ling Feng sneered, reaching straight for Hans’s collar!
It was supposed to be a sure thing: capture him, throw him into the Jade Token Space, and then leave the place.
But unexpectedly, Ling Feng’s hand passed straight through Hans’s body!
He appeared to be a substantial person, but in reality, he was a holographic image!
Ling Feng unwillingly reached out to confirm he wasn’t real, then frowned: "Well, looks like you were prepared for me!"
"I told you, it wasn’t until you reached the rooftop that I realized."
Hans’s holographic image chuckled, then explained: "This isn’t really a trap; it’s just a way to protect myself!"
Then he asked smilingly, "You’re not nervous at all?"
"Nothing to be nervous about."
Ling Feng shook his head, "Since you’re not here physically, it doesn’t matter; I’ll catch you sooner or later!"
"Why would you catch me?" Hans asked.
"You’ll find out when I meet you in person!"
Ling Feng remarked, prepared to leave.
But he sensed something odd in his surroundings, an unusual energy field was emerging!
Stopping, he glanced back at Hans.
"Is this a place you can come and go at will?"
Hans exclaimed with delight, continuing, "You’re trapped in a barrier now; unless I comply, you’ll never leave here in your lifetime!"
"Oh?"
Ling Feng squinted, murderous intent surged within.
"Trying to control my freedom won’t be easy!"
Ling Feng sneered, looking at Hans, "Indeed, I underestimated you, but rest assured, within three days, I’ll catch you!"
"I’ll be waiting, but before that, experience the taste of divine power!" Hans mocked coldly.
