Chapter 2156 - 2155: Strict Vigilance
"Boss, that place is quite far. Should I send a car to take you there?" Shen Yuan asked.
Ling Feng looked at him and shook his head with a smile, "No need, your presence is very important to me. Even if I’m discovered, the Americans must not know about you!"
"Alright."
Shen Yuan nodded, not insisting further. He just said, "Boss, you should be extra careful. After all, the things at that place are extremely dangerous!"
"Yes, I understand!"
Ling Feng smiled, not underestimating the Americans, thinking he should assess the situation once nearby!
He then changed his attire and headed out, strolling the streets like a typical American.
After leaving Chinatown, he wandered the streets of Washington D.C., using his Divine Sense to locate Pete’s office to see what he was up to, only to be surprised that his Divine Sense couldn’t penetrate it!
"Things have changed!"
Ling Feng didn’t expect the Americans to be on their guard against him.
Although he didn’t know what method they used, it was apparent that it was aimed at him.
Ling Feng narrowed his eyes, thinking it wasn’t a big deal as he wasn’t particularly aiming to eavesdrop on anything.
He then stopped using his Divine Sense and slowly walked out of the city.
By nightfall, Ling Feng had distanced himself from the city and summoned the Ghost Dragon to ride upon.
Fort Knox is deep within America, two to three thousand kilometers away, so flying there was much quicker.
The journey was uneventful. Ling Feng arrived near his destination around ten o’clock at night.
The location coordinates weren’t classified, so Ling Feng found the place quickly.
However, as before, to avoid radar detection, he landed a hundred kilometers away and chose to continue on foot.
Once within the range of his Divine Sense, Ling Feng immediately scanned the area.
He was astonished to find Fort Knox was completely blank to him!
Ling Feng exclaimed, "Unbelievable!"
It was understandable for Washington D.C. to have defenses, but having something here that could block Divine Sense was intriguing.
Just as Shen Yuan said, the defense level of this place was extremely high!
How much shady business are the Americans conducting here?
Ling Feng smirked, thinking they were underestimating him if they believed blocking his Divine Sense rendered him powerless!
He stopped using his Divine Sense and sped towards his destination, reaching the outskirts of Fort Knox in half an hour.
Despite being named a fort, it was just a collection of buildings.
Ling Feng was two kilometers away, at a spot not very elevated, yet he could still get a general view of Fort Knox.
He then summoned Tian Lian and Little Fei, saying, "I need detailed information about that area. Let Little Fei look for nearby insects!"
"Understood, Master."
Tian Lian nodded, conveying Ling Feng’s thoughts.
Little Fei flapped its wings and immediately began searching the surroundings for insects.
Moments later, many insects were under its control.
Those that could only crawl, like scorpions and centipedes, were abandoned due to their slowness. Little Fei chose thousands of winged beetles and mosquitoes to fly towards Fort Knox.
Ling Feng wasn’t in a hurry, sitting on the ground waiting for feedback.
After ten, twenty, thirty minutes, Little Fei sent back information. Most insects were eliminated by an invisible electric grid as soon as they entered the base.
The few that made it into the ventilation ducts were electrocuted!
Not a single insect successfully breached the defenses!
"Now this is interesting!"
Ling Feng muttered, then stood up, saying, "Looks like I have to act personally and infiltrate with Invisibility!"
"Master, how about I give it a try?" Tian Lian suggested.
Ling Feng looked at her, "You can’t turn invisible."
"But I can enter in a spiritual form. They might not detect me."
Tian Lian added, "Master, you can become invisible, but with such high-level defenses, they must have infrared monitoring systems. You can’t control your body temperature."
"That’s true, but if you go, what can you do? You can’t just go in and start killing!" Ling Feng said.
"I’ll scout first. If I can disable their electronic systems, Master can enter afterward." Tian Lian said.
Ling Feng smiled at her, "You’ve grown a lot lately. Your thinking aligns with modern approaches now!"
"Yes, I’ve learned a lot indeed."
Tian Lian nodded emotionlessly, and her form gradually became transparent.
"Alright, go check it out, then!"
Seeing her insistence, Ling Feng didn’t say much, just nodded.
Tian Lian quickly headed towards Fort Knox. Ling Feng, unable to use his Divine Sense, could only sit and wait.
A few minutes later, he saw a flash of light from Fort Knox—a massive arc of electricity!
The arc was incredibly bright, yet disappeared in an instant.
Ling Feng stood up immediately, exclaiming, "Tian Lian!"
"I’m fine, Master!"
Tian Lian replied quickly, returning to his side and reappearing.
"What happened?" Ling Feng promptly asked.
"Even in spiritual form, they detected me, possibly sensing my energy." Tian Lian explained.
"Luckily, their attack didn’t hit me."
"That’s good!"
Ling Feng nodded, squinting his eyes, "Their defenses are really tight. Do I have no choice but to force my way in?"
"Not quite."
Tian Lian shook her head before adding, "There’s another option, using Little Hei."
"Oh? By tunneling underground?"
Ling Feng pondered before nodding, "It’s a good idea, but I suspect they also have tools to detect seismic activity. If Little Hei causes any underground tremors, they’ll notice."
"Even if they do, it won’t matter. They can’t enter underground; they can only watch us approach!" Tian Lian said.
"That’s true!"
Ling Feng contemplated, thinking it would be best to enter silently, allowing him to access what he sought without them being able to destroy it in time.
"Alright, let’s have Little Hei try. If we don’t alert them, we’ll attempt to enter from underground!" Ling Feng said.
"Okay!"
Tian Lian nodded and summoned Little Hei.
Then, Little Hei’s massive figure dug into the ground, creating a nearly vertical tunnel.
