Chapter 1774 - 1773: The Cave
Bai Ling’s figure quickly exceeded the five-kilometer range, but Ling Feng still remembered the license plate number and the direction she left.
So he immediately said to Zhang He, "I’ve found her trail. Are you coming with me or staying here?"
Zhang He was already in an explosive state, but after thinking for a moment, he said, "I should go with you, but the scene is so chaotic. To prevent anything else from happening, I’d better stay here!"
"Very well!"
Ling Feng nodded, thinking to himself, I would have had to persuade you to stay if you wanted to come with me. Since you understand the situation, that’s for the best!
Then he continued, "You stay and watch the scene. I’ll be back soon!"
After speaking, he turned back to look at Bai Qian, "Sister-in-law, don’t worry, it will be fine!"
"Okay, Ling Feng, be careful!" Bai Qian nodded.
Ling Feng walked out, got into the car Zhang He had driven, and then merged into the traffic on the street.
This was a major northern town, the city was quite bustling, and there were many vehicles, so the car couldn’t move very quickly.
By the time Ling Feng drove to the less congested suburbs, half an hour had already passed.
His Divine Sense still didn’t detect Bai Ling’s figure, and he began to get a bit anxious, so he quickly increased the car’s speed.
Sprinting all the way, in the blink of an eye, he had gone nearly ten kilometers before Ling Feng finally saw the car that was carrying Bai Ling!
But unfortunately, he did not see her.
However, finding the car was good enough. Ling Feng then increased the car’s speed again, heading straight to where the car was parked.
The distance was gradually shortening, and Ling Feng was also using his Divine Sense to scan the area, discovering that it was a temple in the mountains, with a spiraling road up, some tourists were walking or driving, heading there.
The car was parked at the temple’s entrance, and no one was inside anymore.
Ling Feng felt puzzled, wondering why Bai Ling was brought here, and why her presence could not be detected by his Divine Sense after entering the temple?
The car sped into the mountains, and could no longer drive at high speed since he was within a scenic area.
Seeing the toll booth up ahead, Ling Feng decided to park outside and then walked to the entrance.
He bought a ticket and quickly entered the scenic area, not following the winding mountain road but directly entering the dense forest by the roadside.
A few minutes later, he had already climbed straight up through the mountains, reaching the temple’s entrance.
Once up close, he expanded his Divine Sense again, scanning more meticulously this time.
The temple was bustling with monks and tourists, but at the last row of monks’ quarters, there was a passage leading to the back mountain.
This temple leaned against the mountain, where a cave hid so well it was barely visible!
Ling Feng squinted, thinking to himself: "So this place is a shady shop, it looks like a temple, but there’s other business going on behind the scenes!"
His Divine Sense infiltrated the cave; inside was a sizable space within the mountain. He soon spotted Bai Ling’s figure!
Fortunately, the girl was alone, currently in a separate room, safe from any danger!
Seeing this, Ling Feng sighed with relief and then stepped into the temple.
Tourists were admiring the sights, taking selfies, or lighting incense for the Buddha statues, but he paid no mind, heading straight through Daxiong Hall towards the rear monks’ quarters.
Unexpectedly, upon entering the second courtyard, there was a high wall with only a moon gate leading further, guarded by a man in black and a monk.
Ling Feng walked up calmly, and the man in black immediately said, "Sir, this area is not open to the public!"
"Is that so? What’s inside?"
Feigning as a curious tourist, Ling Feng inquired.
"Amitabha Buddha, benefactor, the area behind is where monks conduct morning and evening classes and where they rest, not open to the public," the monk said.
Ling Feng responded with an oh, then asked, "Is the cave behind also not open?"
"Hmm?"
Both the man in black and the monk were stunned for a moment, and then the man in black squinted his eyes, "Who are you?"
"The one causing you trouble!"
Ling Feng chuckled and activated the Mind Soul Art!
The two had no time to react and fainted immediately.
Seeing no one around, Ling Feng stuffed the two into his Space Bracelet, and then pushed the door open, walking into the backyard.
The courtyard was empty and extremely quiet, perhaps because the monks were busy hosting tourists up front.
Without delay, Ling Feng headed straight for the monks’ quarters, pushing aside a wall cabinet to reveal a dark cave entrance.
Just as he was about to step inside, an elderly voice chanted, "Amitabha Buddha, benefactor, what do you intend to do?"
Ling Feng turned around and saw an old monk, bald, beardless, but with two particularly long, snow-white eyebrows hanging down to his cheeks.
Looking at the man, Ling Feng smiled, "Not much, just curious about what this cave is for, and wanted to take a look!"
"This is a private area, please, benefactor, curb your curiosity and leave," the old monk said blandly.
Ling Feng eyed him, "What if I don’t leave?"
"This..."
The old monk was taken aback, then chanted again, "Amitabha Buddha, if the benefactor insists, then you must bear the consequences!"
"Consequences?"
Ling Feng sneered, "The ones who should bear the consequences might be you!"
Seeing that his opponent did not attack, he turned and walked into the cave!
The old monk indeed did nothing, standing there watching Ling Feng enter the cave.
Without so much as an attempt to stop him, Ling Feng figured the guy was all bluster, snorted, and briskly headed towards Bai Ling’s room.
But after walking some distance, he suddenly sensed that something was off, something was wrong!
He had traversed dozens of meters, yet Bai Ling’s room was still distant, as if the space between them had not decreased at all!
"What’s going on?"
Ling Feng squinted; although the cave was pitch-dark, it couldn’t hinder his Divine Sense, which soon scanned the surroundings, searching for any weird Formation or Illusion array that might be at work.
But even after sweeping through the crevices in the rock, he found nothing peculiar!
Ling Feng continued to stride forward, feeling truly like he was moving ahead, the stones beneath and the walls around changing, yet his distance from Bai Ling remained just as far, showing no sign of reduction!
"Damn it!"
Ling Feng’s heart sank, feeling trapped by someone else’s trick!
The old monk didn’t stop him because he knew there was no point once inside!
Realizing this, Ling Feng squinted, and shouted, "Tian Lian!"
"Master, I’m here!"
A flash of white light, and Tian Lian appeared.
"There’s something strange about this place, can you see what’s going on?" Ling Feng asked.
