Chapter 1674 - 1673: Really?
Chapter 1674 - 1673: Really?
Ling Feng inquired a bit to understand that the method of making this whiskey was quite similar to the domestic Baijiu, the only difference being that this liquor needs to be stored in oak barrels for more than two years before it is bottled and sold.
The fragrance he smelled was the unique aroma of the oak barrels.
After understanding this, the whiskey didn’t seem so special anymore.
Today, Catherine seemed to be in a good mood and drank two glasses, totaling at least four ounces of alcohol.
After her face turned slightly red, her gaze became a bit dazed, appearing very charming.
Ling Feng also drank two glasses and, although he felt a little dizzy, he wasn’t quite drunk yet.
By now it was late at night, and the bar was starting to fill up with people.
As more people gathered, the noise level increased as well. Catherine frowned, seemingly not fond of such a noisy environment, so she turned to Ling Feng and said, "Shall we go? It’s too loud here!"
"Okay."
Ling Feng had no objections, paid the bill, and the two left the bar together.
The street was somewhat quiet; seeing Catherine head straight to her car, Ling Feng asked in surprise, "You’re not planning to drive, are you?"
"Yes, why?" Catherine turned back and asked.
"Uh, you drank, isn’t that drink driving?" Ling Feng asked.
"Only if you get caught. If not, who’s to know I’m driving after drinking?"
Catherine chuckled, opening the car door.
Ling Feng: "...."
Getting into the car, he curiously asked, "Don’t you guys check for drink driving here?"
"Almost never, unless something happens!"
Catherine looked at him, "Here, it’s mainly about self-discipline. If you get into trouble drinking and driving, you’ll face hefty fines that most people can’t afford!"
"So basically, even if you drink and drive, you have to be super cautious, right?" Ling Feng asked.
"Exactly, that’s it!"
Catherine nodded, started the car, then looked at him, "Want to go somewhere else for a drink?"
"Uh..."
Ling Feng hesitated for a moment, then nodded, "Alright, since you want to drink, I’ll accompany you!"
"Smart move, I helped you make quite a bit of money today, you should spend some time with me!"
Catherine said, driving away!
She didn’t live at the hotel where Ling Feng was staying, so then she turned in the opposite direction and drove straight to the place she lived.
Upon arriving downstairs, seeing the sign of the hotel, Ling Feng paused and asked, "What? You want me to drink at your place?"
"Yes, are you afraid?" Catherine glared at him.
Ling Feng froze, then smiled wryly, "What are you saying? I’m a grown man, what is there to be afraid of?"
"Exactly, then why so many questions!"
Catherine rolled her eyes at him, got out of the car.
With a helpless shake of his head, Ling Feng followed and got out of the car.
The two entered the hotel, then went straight up by elevator to Catherine’s room.
It was a small suite, a bit cramped, with only a bedroom and a small living room.
Ling Feng wasn’t someone who sought luxury and wasn’t particular about the environment. After entering, he walked over to the window for a look, then asked, "Do you have any liquor here?"
"Of course!"
Catherine smiled, went into the room, and came out with a hefty bottle a moment later.
"What kind of liquor is this?"
Seeing the crystal clear liquid in the bottle, Ling Feng, who always thought Western spirits had color, was a bit dumbfounded.
"Just wait, try it first!"
Catherine winked slyly, then brought over two glasses.
Ling Feng didn’t rush, watched her pour, then took the glass and sniffed it first.
The fragrance of the liquor was alluring with no off-putting smell, seeming like good quality alcohol.
He raised the glass and took a sip, then his brow furrowed intensely!
His mouth and tongue seemed to be on fire, and as he swallowed, his throat and stomach felt like they were traversing a fiery line, scorching hot!
"Oh my, what kind of liquor is this, such high proof!"
Ling Feng smacked his lips, quite surprised.
Meanwhile, Catherine looked as though she was proud of a mischievous success, laughing lightly, "This is vodka, seventy proof!"
"Uh....."
Ling Feng was speechless, glanced at her, "At this proof, it could probably be used for disinfection, right?"
"Yes, indeed very high!"
Catherine nodded, continuing, "If you’re going to drink, drink high proof; those low-proof liquors are like water, what’s the point?"
"That’s true!"
Ling Feng laughed, took another small sip, and with careful savoring, he found the vodka had a lingering taste.
Seeing he didn’t mind, Catherine also raised her glass, took a small sip, her brow furrowing but her mouth exhaling a pleased sound.
The two of them were drinking sip by sip; Ling Feng took the opportunity to ask, "Regarding the Holy Light Society and the American military, what’s your stance now?"
"What do you mean?"
Catherine glanced at him and asked lightly.
"Nothing in particular, just curious!"
Ling Feng smiled, continuing, "After all, they held you captive, using you as bait to lure me in. You can’t possibly be indifferent to that, right?"
Hearing this, Catherine seriously looked at him for a moment, "Are you trying to ask if I would betray my organization and country?"
"Not really, just want to hear your attitude. As for what you decide to do, I wouldn’t interfere!" Ling Feng smiled.
"Really?"
Catherine scrutinized Ling Feng’s face, seriously asking, "What if I told you I would betray them?"
"If that were the case, I can accept you on my end!" Ling Feng replied.
"Oh."
Catherine nodded, then queried, "Well then, do you hope I stay here with you, or remain in America?"
"Uh..."
Now Ling Feng didn’t know how to respond.
Because Catherine was staring straight at him with a somewhat peculiar look in her eyes, he was unsure what to say!
"I understand!"
Without waiting for Ling Feng to speak, Catherine smiled, raised her glass, and took a sip.
"What do you understand?"
Ling Feng looked at her, perplexed, and asked.
"To you, I still hold some value, and where that value can be realized is here in America, right?" Catherine inquired.
"..."
What she said made sense, and Ling Feng indeed had thought along those lines, but now that she mentioned it, combined with a hint of loss in her expression, he suddenly felt he was wrong!
An overwhelming sense of guilt welled up from within Ling Feng’s heart, and he quickly said, "Although I’ve thought that way, it’s not that I intensely need you to do so. If you wish to leave, I will arrange for you to go to Huaxia!"
"Really?"
Catherine looked at him, seriously asking.
Ling Feng also immediately nodded, with a sincere face, "Yes!"
