Chapter 1536 - 1535: Going to the Countryside

The two of them ate and chatted, creating a very cozy atmosphere.

After lunch, Ling Feng helped cleanup the dishes and then washed them.

Like any ordinary couple, after tidying up, they sat on the sofa eating fruit and watching TV.

Snuggled in Ling Feng’s arms, Chen Fei felt sweet as if she had eaten honey, transforming from a decisive external affairs director into a gentle little kitten.

Ling Feng had no ulterior motives and just held her, enjoying the warm world of the two of them.

He then picked up the call and immediately asked, "What’s up?"

"Boss, can you come to Lingyun Island? We’ve got a lead on the people who attacked us!" Gu Li said.

Ling Feng’s heart skipped a beat but he didn’t rush back. Instead, he calmly said, "Really? Follow up on the lead, confirm it, and then let me know. I’ll settle the score with them when I find time!"

"Oh, that’ll work!"

Gu Li didn’t expect Ling Feng to suddenly be not in a hurry but nodded, "Alright then, you get on with your day!"

Ling Feng gave a grunt of acknowledgment and hung up the phone.

Then he put his arm around Chen Fei’s shoulder: "Even if the sky falls today, I’ll accompany you to Taohua Township!"

"Thank you!" Chen Fei said softly.

Ling Feng chuckled, "There you go again!"

"Okay, okay, I won’t say it anymore!"

Chen Fei also smiled, and then they both got into the car.

The daily necessities they had purchased earlier were loaded into the car, so Chen Fei got in and they drove towards Taohua Township.

On the way, she explained to Ling Feng the situation over there in Taohua Township.

This township has seven village committee offices and over twenty natural villages. Due to its deep mountainous location, there’s not much farmland, so almost all villagers earn a living by working outside, while the elderly, women, and children stay at home to farm, gathering mountain goods to supplement their income.

This way of life is much like Shiliu Village back then. Ling Feng listened thoughtfully, and then asked, "What is the average household income in the village now?"

"I inquired before, and if calculated on average, each household makes only about twenty thousand yuan." Chen Fei replied.

"That’s at least three members per household, with less than seven thousand per person on average!"

Ling Feng thought the number was really too low!

These incomes could barely satisfy basic needs, let alone better living conditions!

So he gave a wry smile and said, "Seems like this task is really not going to be easy!"

"Yes, I know that the villages you’ve helped before were single villages, while Taohua Township is an entire township, which indeed adds to the difficulty!" Chen Fei nodded.

"No problem, the greater the challenge, the stronger the sense of accomplishment upon completion!"

Ling Feng smiled and added, "I’ve got this one covered!"

With that, he took out his phone and called Mo Jiaolan.

When the call connected, Ling Feng asked, "How’s our poverty alleviation project coming along?"

Mo Jiaolan was taken aback: "Why ask about that all of a sudden?"

"There’s a Taohua Township in Yangjing County that I’d like to add to the list. The situation there isn’t too good!" Ling Feng said.

"Okay, I’ll have someone look into it later!"

Mo Jiaolan said, then asked, "You went to visit Fei?"

"Yes, I came over to see her and happened to hear about this. I’m on my way to Taohua Township right now." Ling Feng replied.

"Alright, wait for my call then."

After hanging up, Ling Feng looked at Chen Fei: "I have a dedicated planning team now. Any village in Huaxia with development potential can get help with planning, helping the locals get prosperous!"

Chen Fei didn’t say anything, but gave him a deep look.

Words of gratitude were unnecessary, but what Ling Feng was doing deeply moved and impressed her, causing her feelings for him to deepen even further.

About an hour later, the car entered a region of towering, knife-like mountains.

Taohua Township is deep in the mountains, and the roads aren’t very wide. After driving for a while on the mountain road, the landscape suddenly opened up, revealing a village nestled at the foot of the mountain.

This was the government seat of Taohua Township, Taohua Village.

Being in the southwest of Huaxia, although it was winter, it was still a lush green, with the village hidden amongst the greenery, giving it an idyllic feel.

The township government was just a small courtyard, much like the village committee office in Shiliu Village. After parking the car, Ling Feng looked around at the courtyard’s simple buildings and sighed internally.

As the two of them got out of the car, a middle-aged man came out to greet them.

Seeing him all smiles, Chen Fei quickly introduced him, "Ling Feng, this is Township Chief Chu."

Chu Zhennan quickly nodded, "More than just heard of it! Ling sir’s fame is known all over Huaxia now!"

"Chief Chu, you’re too kind. I’m here visiting Fei. I just heard she’s in charge of the poverty-relief work here, so I wanted to take a look!" Ling Feng said with a smile.

"Welcome, welcome, please come in!"

Chu Zhennan’s face blossomed into a smile and he quickly ushered them inside.

The reason for his enthusiasm was twofold; he knew of Ling Feng’s reputation and was aware of the tea plantation project in Liangdong Village!

Especially the latter, as it happened within the county, and when others heard about it, the cadre from nearby townships were envious!

Developing the economy and improving the income of the people, everyone was wondering when such good fortune might come their way.

So now that he saw Ling Feng, Chu Zhennan knew the opportunity had arrived!

Ling Feng was like a God of Wealth, and he needed to be entertained properly. If he invested, it would be best for everyone!

Inside the office, seeing the somewhat shabby environment, Ling Feng sighed again internally.
