Chapter 1416: Is This Your Boyfriend?

The car turned a corner on the way to the county town, then wound around to North Mountain Township.

Driving all the way to Xun Qianqian’s house, the two elderly people inside saw them, and quickly walked out.

Upon seeing their daughter and Ling Feng getting out of the car, the two elders immediately beamed with joy.

Just like any typical son-in-law visiting, Ling Feng carried a large pile of things in both hands as he entered the courtyard.

Mr. and Mrs. Xun were very enthusiastic. They had already heard from relatives and friends about the happenings in Shiliu Village and knew that the tremendous changes there were all thanks to Ling Feng’s efforts, so naturally, they held him in high esteem.

Upon entering the house, Ling Feng noticed that it was the same as before, with no changes, and smiled to himself, understanding the situation but said nothing.

Though a year had passed since they last met, there was no sense of distance, so Ling Feng chatted casually with the elders about family matters.

He knew that since he came today, he wouldn’t be able to leave right away, so he wasn’t in a hurry and casually inquired about the current situation in the village and the convenience of life for the two elders.

As they chatted, some people arrived outside, glanced at the car parked at the entrance, and then came straight into the yard.

Two young people came, pushed the door open without hesitation, and laughter resonated from the outer room: "Qianqian must be back, right? It’s been so long since we’ve seen you!"

With their voices, the two young people entered the house.

One of them was tall, with a black mole near the corner of his eye, and appeared quite fair.

The shorter one had a burly build, with dark skin, evidently someone accustomed to physical work.

Seeing these two, Xun Qianqian smiled, "Oh, how did you two end up here?"

"We heard you had a guest, so we guessed it might be you. Qianqian, you’ve changed a lot!" said the tall young man.

"Really? I think I’ve changed quite a bit too!" Xun Qianqian replied with a smile.

Mr. and Mrs. Xun noticed the room getting a bit crowded with the arrival of the two young men, so they got up and said, "You young people chat away, we’ll go prepare lunch!"

"Hey, who’s this? Aren’t you going to introduce us?" The tall young man pretended to notice Ling Feng for the first time, smiling as he asked.

"This is my boyfriend, Ling Feng!"

Xun Qianqian introduced him promptly, then turned to Ling Feng and said, "These two are Gao Hu and Deng Qiang, childhood friends of mine!"

"Oh, nice to meet you!"

Ling Feng nodded, noticing the two didn’t intend to shake hands, so he just nodded with a smile.

The tall young man looked at Ling Feng, "You’re Qianqian’s boyfriend?"

After hearing Xun Qianqian’s introduction just now, his expression changed from being all smiles to still smiling but with an obvious shift in his gaze.

Before Ling Feng could speak, Xun Qianqian quickly interjected, "Of course, why would that be questionable? By the way, Gao Hu, why didn’t you guys come back last year?"

"Work was busy, we were swamped in the Capital City. If it weren’t for the boss suddenly deciding to invest in our county, we wouldn’t have come back even for the New Year!"

Gao Hu’s tone carried a hint of pride, and as he spoke, he glanced at Ling Feng, "By the way, Mr. Ling, what do you do for a living?"

"Me? No official work, just drifting wherever things come up!" Ling Feng replied with a smile.

"Is that so?"

Gao Hu laughed, pointed at the car outside, and asked, "Is that car yours? Couldn’t have borrowed it, right? Looks like it costs hundreds of thousands, I doubt you could afford it."

"Gao Hu, what are you talking about? Haven’t you heard of the name Ling Feng?" Xun Qianqian caught the hidden jab in his words and asked, a bit displeased.

"Ling Feng? First time hearing it today."

Gao Hu chuckled and turned to Deng Qiang, "Have you heard of it?"

"Nope."

Deng Qiang shook his head, "It’s been so long since I was back, can’t possibly know everyone!"

"Exactly!"

Gao Hu laughed and said to Xun Qianqian, "Heard you’re at your cousin’s, why not come to our company after the New Year? You’re so pretty, surely you’ll find a good position!"

Xun Qianqian didn’t want to flip out directly, so she shook her head and said calmly, "No need, my current job is quite stable."

"Stable for what? What’s important is making money. Shiliu Village wouldn’t be much better off; our company is investing over a billion in the county town this time. The prospects must be incredibly promising!" Gao Hu argued.

Saying this, Ling Feng suddenly became interested and asked curiously, "What company are you guys with?"

"It would scare you to know, the Great Wall Hotel Group!" Gao Hu said proudly.

Ling Feng was taken aback, "The Great Wall Hotel in Capital City?"

"Yes, indeed. Seems like you’re a bit savvy, not many in our county know this!" Gao Hu said.

Unfazed by his arrogance, Ling Feng followed up, "Isn’t your boss Duan Feihong?"

Gao Hu was a bit surprised, "Oh, you know that too? I’m definitely seeing you in a new light!"

Ling Feng ignored him, turned to Xun Qianqian, and asked, "When did Duan Feihong come to the county?"

Xun Qianqian shrugged, "I don’t know, haven’t seen her around lately! Why don’t you call and ask?"

"What? You have Ms. Duan’s number?"

Both Gao Hu and Deng Qiang were stunned upon hearing this.

Ling Feng still didn’t pay them any mind and shrugged, saying, "Never mind, I’ll talk later."

Finishing, he looked at Gao Hu and asked, "By the way, with such a huge investment, what project are you planning?"

"You don’t even know Ms. Duan, do you? Just pretending in front of us. If you really knew, wouldn’t you already know this?" Deng Qiang asked sarcastically.

Gao Hu, finding the logic in it, sneered, "Right, thought you really knew Ms. Duan. Turns out you were fooling us. Let me tell you, Ms. Duan is planning to build a Great Wall Hotel in our county, equal in scale to the one in the Capital City, absolutely five-star!"

"Is that so."

Ling Feng nodded, "Now I understand."

Duan Feihong must have seen the development potential of the county, which is why she decided on such a large-scale investment.

It’s just that she handled it so quietly, and he had not heard a thing!

Mo Jiaolan must have known about this, probably just forgot to tell him due to being too busy.

"No need, Qianqian has a great job right now, no need to work at Duan Feihong’s hotel. By the way, what do you guys do there?" Ling Feng asked.

"I’m the assistant manager of the Great Wall Hotel lobby, just appointed by Ms. Duan!" Gao Hu said proudly.

"I’m a driver for the fleet. Though not as high up as Brother Hu, the salary is over eight thousand!" Deng Qiang added.

"Oh, is that so."

Ling Feng smiled, somewhat insincerely, "That’s quite impressive."
