Chapter 1390: Searching for the Meteorite
Chapter 1390: Searching for the Meteorite
Ling Feng nodded: "Okay!"
Lin Xue looked at the computer, then raised her head: "There’s no report yet, it might have just happened, and the information exchange hasn’t concluded."
"Then let’s wait a bit."
Ling Feng also didn’t know what she meant by information exchange, so he nodded and sat down.
Exchanging glances, Lin Xue looked at him: "Have you found anything new this time?"
"That’s right, and it’s quite significant. When you get to the Nine Heavens and meet Fei’er, you’ll understand!" Ling Feng laughed.
Lin Xue responded with an "oh," then turned to look at the screen: "When are you free?"
"Why? Do you have something in mind?" Ling Feng asked.
"I’m planning to return to the Demon Capital soon, come with me," Lin Xue said.
"Sure, I was planning to visit Uncle Lin anyway," Ling Feng nodded.
"Mhm."
Lin Xue nodded, a slight smile appearing at her lips.
But before she could speak, the computer screen refreshed with a piece of the latest information.
"After verification, a meteorite from beyond the heavens fell in Gudu County, 300 kilometers away. It’s a desolate mountainous area," Lin Xue stated.
"Do we have specific coordinates?" Ling Feng asked.
Lin Xue shook her head: "Just a general area, that meteor disintegrated mid-air, and fragments might be scattered within a radius of several kilometers!"
"Alright, I’ll go see what’s going on," Ling Feng nodded.
"I’ll go with you. It’s not just you, many people who observed this are heading there!" Lin Xue got up and said.
Ling Feng was stunned for a moment: "Many people? Why?"
"This meteorite has substantial economic value. A piece of just over ten grams can sell for tens of thousands. Most people are going there to get rich," Lin Xue explained.
Ling Feng was a bit speechless and laughed: "Is that possible?"
"Yes, meteorites from beyond the heavens have high research value, and some people like to collect them, so they’ve become quite sought after in recent years."
As they talked, the two left the building, and after getting in the car, Ling Feng asked: "Aren’t you on duty?"
"With sudden events, I can arrange my schedule freely!" Lin Xue replied.
Ling Feng nodded without saying more and drove away from Longyuan.
The 300 kilometers were not a short distance. The car got on the nearest highway entrance and began speeding down the highway.
The sky gradually brightened, and it wasn’t until the sun came out that they arrived near the destination.
After leaving the highway, based on the location Lin Xue provided, they were still 30 kilometers away from where the meteorite fell, but the remaining road wasn’t easy.
Especially after entering the mountains, there was no road, just a rudimentary dirt path, unsuitable for regular cars and SUVs.
The rugged vehicle could only go about ten kilometers further before there was practically no road left, so they had to stop.
Ling Feng and Lin Xue got out of the car, looked at the desolate mountain forest around them, and began hiking into the mountains.
Though they set out promptly, what they didn’t expect was that by the time they climbed a hill and saw the scene in the distance, they were a bit taken aback.
The valley already had quite a few people, scattered across several square kilometers of wilderness, searching for meteorite fragments!
"The power of money is really terrifying. Where did they all come from?" Ling Feng asked, somewhat speechlessly.
"They should all be locals from this county, it’s nearby, so they arrived quickly!" Lin Xue said lightly.
"Let’s go then, maybe someone has already picked up fragments. If they’re just ordinary meteorites, there’s no need to search further!"
Ling Feng uttered, naturally embracing her waist, and then leaped down the hill.
In the wilderness, there were more than a hundred people searching, no one noticed the sudden appearance of these two.
After arriving, Ling Feng and Lin Xue didn’t rush to ask these people about their findings; instead, they took steps, slowly walking through the mountain.
Meanwhile, Ling Feng extended his divine sense for a scan.
Unfortunately, he could only see within a thousand-meter radius of treasure seekers, unable to distinguish which stones were meteorite fragments and which had always been there.
Feeling helpless, he said to Lin Xue: "Looks like we have to try our luck too."
"Nothing particularly unusual suggests they’re just ordinary meteorites, and that’s good, saves us some trouble!" Lin Xue chuckled.
"That’s true!"
Ling Feng nodded and started walking towards the hill ahead.
Two young men approached from the opposite side, chatting and laughing, as if they were there for an outing rather than treasure hunting.
When passing by Lin Xue, both couldn’t help but glance at her a few more times.
After all, her delicate features and her unique, courageous aura naturally attracted attention.
But Lin Xue didn’t mind the gazes of others; she had grown used to such situations after many encounters.
As they passed, the two young men suddenly stopped, and one of them said: "Miss, are you here to look for the meteorite too?"
"Yes!"
Lin Xue nodded, then asked: "Have you found anything?"
"Not yet, but you shouldn’t go ahead; the area was already thoroughly searched, and there’s nothing there!" the young man said.
Lin Xue made an "oh" sound: "Thank you!"
With that, she didn’t say more and continued walking forward.
The two young men glanced at each other, and the one who spoke couldn’t help but say: "If you want to find the meteorite, why not come with us? We know where there might be some!"
Lin Xue paused: "Really? How do you know?"
"We just know, don’t worry, we’re not trying to deceive you, it’s true!" the young man said.
Lin Xue said nothing, glancing at Ling Feng.
"Since the two young men are willing to share, let’s walk with them then!" Ling Feng smiled, reaching out to take Lin Xue’s hand.
The two young men then realized the two were a couple and felt a bit regretful.
But since they had already said it, it was hard to backtrack, so they simply nodded: "Alright, let’s head north!"
So, their group of two turned into four, walking together toward the north.
On the way, Ling Feng looked at the two: "You’re both still students, right?"
"Yes, we’re students at the Electric Power Institute!"
The two young men nodded, with one of them saying: "I’m Ma Hao, and this is Sun Lei. And how should we address you two?"
"I’m Ling Feng, and this is Lin Xue!"
Ling Feng didn’t conceal it and directly introduced himself, then proceeded to ask: "Your school isn’t far from here, right?"
"Yes, just 20 kilometers away in Gudu County," Ma Hao nodded.
"Not that close either, you sure came early," Ling Feng laughed.
"Indeed, when we saw the meteor fall last night, we jumped over the wall and biked here directly!" Sun Lei said.
