Chapter 1283: Apple Cider

Chapter 1283: Apple Cider

After a while, Chen Fei returned from outside.

Seeing her empty-handed, Ling Feng asked curiously, "Why didn’t you bring any wine?"

"Hold on, I chose the homemade apple wine from the store, and the staff went to the basement to get it!" Chen Fei replied.

"Apple wine?"

Ling Feng was taken aback, thinking he had heard of grape wine, but never that apples could be used to make wine!

Chen Fei smiled, "It’s a specialty of the store, the only one in our Yangjing County. You’ll know when you try it!"

"Really? Then I must give it a try!"

Ling Feng nodded, thinking how good this apple wine could be—could it even compare to the rice wine brewed by Sister Xiao Qian?

After a few more minutes, the exquisite dishes began to be served, followed by the waiter bringing the apple wine in large glass cups.

The color of this wine was like amber, appearing jelly-like when still, but when shaken even slightly, it would cling to the glass, making it look slightly sticky.

"This wine has a pretty high alcohol content, so I just ordered a pound of it for us to taste first. If you like it, we can order more later," Chen Fei said.

Just by looking at the appearance of the apple wine, Ling Feng already liked it, so he nodded, "Let’s taste it first!"

Both poured themselves a glass, and as the dark red liquid entered his mouth, Ling Feng’s eyes lit up!

This apple wine had only a faint alcohol taste, slightly spicy, but with an exceptionally rich fruity aroma!

Nowadays, apples have been improved to high-yield varieties with not much aroma, yet this wine had a strong apple scent!

After a sip, seeing Chen Fei looking at him expectantly, Ling Feng smiled, "Indeed, this is fine wine, perfect for women!"

"That’s right, it’s very fruity and also sweet."

Chen Fei smiled and continued, "But don’t just keep drinking it because it’s good; this wine is strong, and people often get drunk thinking they’re fine!"

"Really? Well, I’m not worried—this bit of wine won’t overwhelm me!" Ling Feng laughed.

"Come, let’s toast to your contribution to our county’s economy!"

Chen Fei generously raised her glass.

"Thank you, Sister Fei!"

Ling Feng smiled, feeling truly grateful for her kindness—from giving him a ride to Taiping Town, to spending the day on investment matters, and helping with Duan Kun’s issue in the evening.

After a drink, the alcohol kicked in, spreading warmth through his body, which felt immensely pleasant.

Ling Feng quickly had an idea, looking at Chen Fei’s slightly flushed face, "Sis, how much does this wine cost?"

"It’s a bit pricey—300 yuan per pound," Chen Fei replied.

"Oh, then I’ll ask the waiter to pack some to take back for my friends to try!" Ling Feng said.

"Sure, I’ll arrange it!"

Without hesitation, Chen Fei nodded and called out, and the waiter quickly entered the private room.

Then Chen Fei looked at Ling Feng, "How much do you want to pack?"

"Ten pounds," Ling Feng said.

Unexpectedly, the waiter quickly responded, "I’m sorry sir, our store has a rule that each table can only take away a maximum of five pounds of apple wine!"

"Oh? Why is that?" Ling Feng asked.

"Because the supply of apple wine is limited, if everyone packs it to go, there would be none left for diners to enjoy!" the waiter explained.

Ling Feng suddenly understood and nodded, "Alright, then just five pounds, please."

"Understood!"

The waiter left, and Chen Fei then looked at Ling Feng, "You have many friends?"

"Ah?"

Ling Feng was momentarily surprised, then smiled, "Quite a few, but only one enjoys drinking, and you met him last night."

"Oh."

Chen Fei nodded without saying more, raising her glass again, "This second glass is to celebrate our meeting!"

Ling Feng was taken aback again but quickly raised his glass, "Great, nice to meet you, Sister Fei!"

The two drank together, one glass after another, making Chen Fei’s face even more vibrant.

She was already a feast for the eyes; although she claimed to be thirty, she didn’t look it. After some wine, her beauty was even more captivating, making Ling Feng reluctant to look away.

He knew, however, that she was a deputy director, and her kindness was due to work relations, so he didn’t overthink it.

After three rounds, the waiter brought over a jar of packed apple wine, and once she left, Ling Feng casually put it in his Space Bracelet.

Although Chen Fei was slightly tipsy, she noticed this and was momentarily surprised!

However, she didn’t ask much, and the two left the private room together and headed to the front desk.

When the bill came, seeing it amounted to over two thousand, Ling Feng quickly said, "Sis, let me pay!"

"What? I said I would treat you!" Chen Fei protested.

"You can buy me dinner, but I can’t let you pay for the five pounds of apple wine I packed!" Ling Feng smiled.

"It’s okay, let’s consider it my treat for your friends!"

Chen Fei insisted firmly that she would pay.

Ling Feng had no choice but to relent; arguing too much in public, especially with a woman, was somewhat improper.

Besides, over two thousand wasn’t a huge sum, and she could certainly afford it as a deputy director.

So after Chen Fei paid, the two walked out together.

It was already 10 p.m., and the air was a bit chilly. As the night wind blew, Chen Fei shivered slightly.

Seeing her hair being tousled by the wind, Ling Feng quickly asked, "Sis, are you cold?"

"I’m alright!"

Even though Chen Fei said so, she hugged her arms.

Seeing this, Ling Feng quickly said, "Let’s hurry back then!"

"Alright!"

There were hardly any cars on the street by this time. The two quickly crossed the road and soon returned to the Public Security Bureau’s courtyard.

At the entrance of the building, just as Ling Feng was about to say goodbye, Chen Fei unexpectedly said, "It’s still early, why don’t we go sit in my office and have a cup of tea?"

"Uh, okay."

Ling Feng initially wanted to refuse, but something flashed in his mind, and he immediately agreed.

So the two went upstairs and soon arrived at Chen Fei’s office.

Entering the room, the temperature noticeably rose.

Chen Fei took off her coat, revealing a beige sweater underneath, and looked back at Ling Feng, "Sit wherever you like, I’ll make some tea for you!"

"Okay."

Familiar with the place where he had recorded notes, Ling Feng sat directly in the chair.

A few minutes later, Chen Fei brought over a teapot and cups, smiling, "My tea may not compare to your Ling Yun, but it’s among the finest Pu’er tea we have here, give it a try!"

"Okay!"

Taking a sip from his cup, Ling Feng saw Chen Fei looking intently at him and smiled, "Sis, why are you staring at me like that?"
