Chapter 1050: Hidden Truth
Chapter 1050: Hidden Truth
Hearing Zhou Kun getting anxious, Ni Hong pursed her lips, "I’m just worried you’d be taken advantage of, out of good intentions, that’s all!"
"If you really have good intentions, then you’d better shut up!"
Zhou Kun glared at her and then said, "Had I known you’re such a nag, I wouldn’t have brought you along!"
"You!"
Ni Hong stomped her feet in anger, unable to believe that her own man would scold her like this in front of strangers!
Duan Feihong quickly tried to smooth things over, "Auntie, please stop arguing, let’s have Mr. Ling see to his illness quickly."
At this point, Zhou Kun also turned his head to Ling Feng, "I apologize for my wife’s behavior, Mr. Ling. She’s just like that, please don’t take it to heart!"
"It’s nothing, she’s concerned about you, it’s understandable."
Ling Feng said indifferently, then reached out to check Zhou Kun’s pulse.
A moment later, a gleam flashed in his eyes, and he looked up to say, "Your condition is more serious than I had anticipated!"
"What?"
Zhou Kun was taken aback, his eyes widened in confusion, and he stammered, "Is, is there a cure?"
"Hmph, I knew it would be like this, just a word can scare you half to death!" Ni Hong rolled her eyes and commented from the side.
Ling Feng was speechless, having come with good intentions to see a patient, only to encounter such a shit-stirrer, so he said to Ni Hong, "Are you hoping he’ll die soon?"
"What did you say?"
Hearing this, Ni Hong’s eyes widened, and then she said angrily, "What kind of bumpkin are you, daring to speak to me like that!"
"Am I wrong? He’s clearly gravely ill, yet you insist he’s not sick at all, I really don’t understand your logic!"
Ling Feng let out a cold laugh, looked at Zhou Kun, "You’re quite wealthy?"
"Ah? Well, it’s, it’s okay I guess."
Zhou Kun was startled by the question, a hint of confusion flashing in his eyes.
Ni Hong immediately sneered upon hearing this, "See, he’s opening his mouth like a lion already!"
Ling Feng couldn’t care less about her, looking at Zhou Kun he continued to ask, "You have a fair amount of assets, if you were to succumb to a serious illness, who would benefit?"
"This..."
Zhou Kun was not foolish, realizing what Ling Feng was implying, he turned to look at Ni Hong.
"Why are you looking at me?" Ni Hong asked, her eyes bulging.
"It’s nothing! Please step outside for a moment!" Zhou Kun said.
"What! You want me to go outside?"
Ni Hong’s voice went up by eight pitches, pointing at Ling Feng she asked, "Old Zhou, has this kid slipped you some kind of love potion, what are you thinking?"
"I told you to get out!"
Zhou Kun said with a face full of anger, then turned to the two young men and said, "Drag her out for me!"
But the two men did not move.
Duan Feihong and Tian Hong had intended to break up the fight, but they were stunned by this scene too.
Those two men were bodyguards hired by Zhou Kun, and should have obeyed his orders, yet now they completely disregarded him!
"What’s the meaning of this? You’re not listening to me now?" Zhou Kun asked in a cold voice.
The two young people looked at each other and then turned their eyes to Ni Hong.
As for Ni Hong at this moment, she was somewhat bewildered, her eyes shifting as she said, "If you want to leave, then leave. Since you’re willing to fall for someone else’s trick, why should I bother meddling!"
After speaking, she hurriedly stepped out the door, and the two young people followed her out.
The room fell silent, no one spoke.
Zhou Kun turned his head back and looked at Ling Feng, asking, "Mr. Ling, do you see anything wrong?"
"Not exactly, but I’m a bit curious. Your condition is obviously very serious, yet it wasn’t detected in your check-up a month ago. I wonder why!"
Seeing Zhou Kun’s complexion change, he continued, "Moreover, I’ve discovered that there seem to be some toxins in your body, clearly accumulated over a period of time. Have you taken any tonics or similar substances recently?"
"This..."
Zhou Kun’s complexion changed again and again, as if he had realized something.
However, he didn’t say anything and instead changed the subject, looking at Ling Feng and asking, "Mr. Ling, can you cure my illness? If so, I’m willing to give you half of my fortune!"
"No need, I’m not short of money!"
Ling Feng smiled and then said, "If I can help you resolve family issues, that would be an unexpected gain."
"I understand. Mr. Ling, you do not hold grudges and have even helped me discover the crisis lurking behind me. If I can live, my life would be yours!" Zhou Kun said earnestly.
Ling Feng smiled and didn’t take it to heart; affairs of great family grudges were something he simply didn’t care to be involved with.
Just thinking about it, one would understand that Ni Hong surely had something to hide. As for why she concealed the illness, and even poisoned Zhou Kun, it was nothing more than for his fortune.
The couple had reached this step today, which was truly sigh-inducing.
Zhou Kun had clearly understood. How he would investigate and deal with it upon returning didn’t concern Ling Feng, so Ling Feng continued, "No need for courteous words now. If you really want to express gratitude, you should properly thank Miss Duan. She sought me out twice, which is why I agreed to examine you!"
Having said that, he picked up a pen and wrote two prescriptions on the table, handed them to Duan Feihong, and said, "Get these herbs, and when you’re back, I’ll process them before they’re ready for use!"
"Alright, I’ll go now!"
Upon hearing this, Duan Feihong, without saying another word, took the prescriptions and left.
Only Ling Feng, Tian Hong, and Zhou Kun were left in the room. The two men exchanged glances, then Tian Hong looked at Ling Feng and said, "Mr. Ling, we know that the incident last night did not leave you with a good impression of us. It’s too late to say anything now, but we will keep your life-saving grace in our hearts!"
"I’ve said it already, there really isn’t any need. I don’t need your money or your influence in the Capital City. If you truly feel grateful, just properly thank Miss Duan and help her out more in the future!" said Ling Feng.
"We will!" both men nodded.
Afterwards, the room sank into silence again, everyone contemplating with heads bowed, lost in their own thoughts.
About half an hour later, Duan Feihong came back carrying a big bundle of herbs.
Ling Feng took the herbs to the next room, closed the door, and started the refining process.
His original thought was to directly give them the herbs and let Tian Hong and Zhou Kun boil them themselves at home.
But this way the effect would be slower; after his refinement, the potency of the medicine would be greatly enhanced.
The reason for his change of mind was also because of Ni Hong’s appearance, which made Ling Feng realize the situation was more complicated.
So, for the sake of Duan Feihong, he decided to go all the way with his good deed.
After busying himself for more than half an hour, medicinal pills of two different colors were successfully refined. Ling Feng came out and handed them to the two men, emphasizing to Zhou Kun, "Keep these medicinal pills safe, ensure no one finds out and secretly switches them with something else!"
"I understand. Apart from myself, no one else will even think of touching these pills!" Zhou Kun said seriously.
Ling Feng nodded, "Alright, my task is completed. You two hurry back home and take the medication!"
After saying that, he told Duan Feihong, "I’m heading back to the hotel now!"
